To fear the outcome of Indyref?

My husband is half Scottish and half English and I am seriously worried that he will be heartbroken on Thursday if Scotland votes Yes! He is worried that our little boy's British identity will be undermined. Thus he took this picture and is hoping that all of us who care will take a similar photo with a similar message to show Scotland that we care.
Not all of us get to vote, and it’s Scotland’s decision - and Scotland’s alone - to make. But all 60 million of us care what that decision is, and we have a few days now to show everyone in Scotland how much.

We shared this message on Facebook and Twitter and many have followed - here is our hope that those of us on Mumsnet who care about the British identity of our children will follow.

I'd agree with pretty much all of that Bellebelle. I think the SNP is actually quite a disjointed party in many ways and I suspect that it might well break apart if there is a Yes.

itsbetterthanabox · 16/09/2014 21:31

What's 'British identity'?

BettyFlour · 16/09/2014 21:32

I'm voting yes for the future of my own children. There are a huge amount of children living in poverty in scotland. There has been a recent campaign 'coats for kids' as there are children in my local area who will be without warm clothes this winter. The local food banks are begging for nappies as there are many parents only changing dirty nappies as they can't afford to change ones that are just wet. They are also looking for toothpaste as parents can't afford to clean their kids teeth. And for food that can be prepared using only kettles as the cost of using a cooker is to much for some families. These things genuinely sadden me and make me want to vote yes for a chance at a better future. I believe if we were better together we'd be better now and not have situations of extreme child poverty in a rich country.

And you're voting yes to change this??? You do realise that Scotland will have to raise taxes dramatically to make any money? That most industries will move to England, so there will be no jobs. And that free prescriptions and free University fees will be abolished. So in the immediate future, and Independent Scotland will be harsh times.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 16/09/2014 21:32

When will we find out the results? I guess it will be Friday but will it be morning, afternoon? Gutted if I will miss it.

TeamScotland · 16/09/2014 21:32

There's a wee unofficial group that I know of who are driving around the countryside, erm, collecting No Thanks signs...maybe I'll try them?

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 16/09/2014 21:33

Bright I can't find a link but yes won, by a decent wee percentage in comparison to the other polls.

But now we've all been enlightened and educated by the wonderful people on the Indy ref thread if it was to be repeated now it was most definitely obviously be a no.

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/09/2014 21:34

The last thing I saw Schro suggested the last count (Aberdeen) is expected at 6am but if it's close it could well be later as they might have to double count etc.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 16/09/2014 21:35

was *would

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 16/09/2014 21:35

Guess I will be getting up really early on Friday then. :) Thanks.

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/09/2014 21:35

Lovleyrita, what's the need for that, really? The Indyref threads have largely been pretty good natured with some really good debate.

Numanoid · 16/09/2014 21:37

I will do that Rita, if I don't hear back from them before Thursday (guessing they will be very busy). Grin

SantanaLopez · 16/09/2014 21:38

There are jokes and then there are jokes and you damn well know it.

awaynboilyurheid · 16/09/2014 21:38

Betty don't you know all poverty will be wiped away free education free prescriptions free heating free everything once we vote Yes ? seriously has no one mentioned its a global recession but nooooo Scotland will be richer than our wildest dreams according to the YES campaigners

PhaedraIsMyName · 16/09/2014 21:39

Rita do you have anything more on the alleged BBC bias re Kevin Bridges. You seemed het up about it. Can't find anything.

PhaedraIsMyName · 16/09/2014 21:40

Oh and Rita I never saw the MN poll

Brightbutchilly · 16/09/2014 21:42

PhaedraN emailed all the Scottish MNers they could find about it.?

Numanoid · 16/09/2014 21:42

If the last count is at 6am hopefully there will be a definite announcement on Friday. I for one don't want to wait much longer than that.

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/09/2014 21:43

Fingers cross Numanoid, I don't think my nerves could take it!

Numanoid · 16/09/2014 21:44

Rita do you have anything more on the alleged BBC bias re Kevin Bridges. You seemed het up about it. Can't find anything.

I don't know for sure, but I think I saw something mentioned about it on FB. I think it may be on his Twitter, as a reply to someone.

PhaedraIsMyName · 16/09/2014 21:44

I don't have any personal information on my profile so I would not have got it.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 16/09/2014 21:45

I have not once mentioned Kevin bridges.

Wtf?

Numanoid · 16/09/2014 21:46

IrnBru mentioned it on another thread Rita. I think it's a case of mistaken identity. Wink

Brightbutchilly · 16/09/2014 21:47

Thank you LovelyRita that's very interesting I shall have to go and do a search for the thread.

Betty don't believe everything you read in the media. I work for a very large company can't say who so please don't ask with significant employees in Scotland. It has been widely reported that they planning to leave a Scotland. The company have repeated reassured their staff that the change of registration is a legal matter only which will not impact either jobs in Scotland or customer service.

Celticlass2 · 16/09/2014 21:49

I agree Weegie.

unlucky83 · 16/09/2014 21:49

Why have all the yes voters left the other thread? Because they don't like hearing the cold hard facts...they can't argue against them...
By all means vote with your heart/convictions...but do it with your eyes open.
Don't fall for the smoke and mirrors - at the moment the Yes campaign is promising all things to all men - the promise of Utopia - a bit like Blair in 1997. And we know what happened there ...
And it isn't too late . Until you have marked your ballot paper you can always change your mind. You don't even need to tell anyone you did.
I think everyone should take a second before they do -be that a Yes or No - have a wee think - am I 110% convinced this is absolutely the right thing to do, right now, for the whole of my country?...
If you have a seconds hesitation it has to be No. We can (will!) have another referendum in the future -hopefully when more of the questions have been answered and there is more financial security - there will be no going back from a Yes...
