To fear the outcome of Indyref?

My husband is half Scottish and half English and I am seriously worried that he will be heartbroken on Thursday if Scotland votes Yes! He is worried that our little boy's British identity will be undermined. Thus he took this picture and is hoping that all of us who care will take a similar photo with a similar message to show Scotland that we care.
Not all of us get to vote, and it’s Scotland’s decision - and Scotland’s alone - to make. But all 60 million of us care what that decision is, and we have a few days now to show everyone in Scotland how much.

We shared this message on Facebook and Twitter and many have followed - here is our hope that those of us on Mumsnet who care about the British identity of our children will follow.

"as I think the yes voters are deluded"

It's talk like that that makes me think there will be violence on Friday.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 16/09/2014 20:52

Bit late having it on Thursday!

I know a lot of schools local to me have underestimated the appetite for this in all pupils, not just those with a vote.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 16/09/2014 20:53

I think she maybe thought if she had it sooner it would cause a lot of tension leading up to the vote, judging by the way the last quick discussion went!

There are 17yo's in my class who haven't registered to vote too. :(

Iggi999 · 16/09/2014 20:54

Can any of you shed any light on the issue about Betfair paying out for no votes already? Dh has already decided there's no point voting on Thursday.

awaynboilyurheid · 16/09/2014 20:56

op, hopefully people will vote No and send wee Eck packing and this will all be over

TeamScotland · 16/09/2014 20:58

Oh I wonder if I can volunteer to give lifts?

JudysPriest · 16/09/2014 20:58

"Dh has already decided there's no point voting on Thursday."

In that case, whichever way it goes, remind him had has no right too whinge about anything to do with the result, ever. Wink

Seriously, whichever side you're on, go have your say. Let's have Scotland with an amazing turn out which shows how much every single one of us cares about our country, regardless of how we vote. Apathy will kill the country before any policy.

TheBogQueen · 16/09/2014 20:58

The bet fair thing is nonsense. DP likes the odd flutter.

He says there are 2sides to Betfairs operation the smaller side is odds set by Betfair and as it's the smaller part of the business, it's a proportionally small amount they have paid out. It's just free publicity. And the owner is a Tory party donor.

JudysPriest · 16/09/2014 20:59

Are we voting for Eck, away?

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 16/09/2014 21:00

I might be the only person left that actually likes him...

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 16/09/2014 21:00

send wee Eck packing

And half the voters that are saying yes. Hmm

Iggi999 · 16/09/2014 21:01

Thanks for that, I'll pass it on Smile
He will definitely go to the poll, I think it's just getting a bit much for him.

TeamScotland · 16/09/2014 21:02

I like him. I prefer Nicola though.

I never get the Salmond hate, when there are far, far more dodgy politicians out there.

Numanoid · 16/09/2014 21:03

I agree with Judys, it's too close not to vote. Maybe the bookies are paying out on a No vote, but the amount of people who are supporting a Yes vote is astounding. I didn't expect it myself.
Regardless of which way you are voting, don't miss out on your chance to have a say.

JudysPriest · 16/09/2014 21:03

I don't mind him Schro.

I quite liked Gordon Brown though so what do I know.

The ballot says Independent Yes or No. I have expect to get there on Thurs to see "SHOULD SALMOND RULE US FOREVER!????? DO YOU WANT THAT, DO YOU?!"

If you fancy a laugh follow Angry Salmond on Twitter. A fucking hoot.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 16/09/2014 21:04

I've loved Nicola in the debates, just her "Pfft" attitude, especially to that Tory woman (can't remember her name), she pissed me right off.

I don't get it either, I think he's much better than most of them!

TeamScotland · 16/09/2014 21:05

Shhhhh, we've been rumbled, everybody hide Grin

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 16/09/2014 21:05

I liked Gordon too Blush...

Wouldn't be surprised if that was on the paper!

Will have a look at the twitter.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 16/09/2014 21:06

RD contact your local yes group they might have a list.

I just chatted with my neighbours, quite a few frail ones who would make it along but thought I would offer.

I better check who they are voting for first...

SantanaLopez · 16/09/2014 21:07

Your son is gorgeous :)

I too fear the outcome for our family. I am sorry you've been given such a hard time.

TeamScotland · 16/09/2014 21:09

Good idea Rita Wink

SantanaLopez · 16/09/2014 21:10

I know Judy, I was wondering why no one was left to challenge the pish misleading and often misinformed posts on there.

We were challenging you, TeamScotland.

As an aside, we are not 'BT anonymous'. Anyone is welcome on any thread in MN. But we are allowed to question what you say and we are allowed to ask for clarification. We haven't been given that by the yes campaign so far.

dotdotdotmustdash · 16/09/2014 21:10

If you're sentimental about Scotland why don't you come and make your home here? There are and will be, great opportunities for families with skills to live, work and bring up their children here. If the vote is yes, come and share in our exciting new times. Obviously if the vote is No, you're far better off staying where you are.

TheBogQueen · 16/09/2014 21:11

You can volunteer to help people get to polling stations. I think DP wi be using our car to drive some of the elderly people so they can vote.

Numanoid · 16/09/2014 21:11

Rita, do you know if it is still possible to volunteer to be at the polling stations on Thursday? I will be working some of the day but want to be there when I'm not in work.
We got cards from Yes Scotland asking if we'd like to volunteer but never found the time to post them back. :( Might get DP to fire off a quick email to our local Yes group saying we'll help if they'll have us!
