To fear the outcome of Indyref?

My husband is half Scottish and half English and I am seriously worried that he will be heartbroken on Thursday if Scotland votes Yes! He is worried that our little boy's British identity will be undermined. Thus he took this picture and is hoping that all of us who care will take a similar photo with a similar message to show Scotland that we care.
Not all of us get to vote, and it’s Scotland’s decision - and Scotland’s alone - to make. But all 60 million of us care what that decision is, and we have a few days now to show everyone in Scotland how much.

We shared this message on Facebook and Twitter and many have followed - here is our hope that those of us on Mumsnet who care about the British identity of our children will follow.

Someone actually said on one of the Indy threads that it was time people stopped being so politically active and got their heads down and back to work.

Brightbutchilly · 18/09/2014 13:35

Rita Sad Do think they slept through History and Modern studies classes?

PhaedraIsMyName · 18/09/2014 17:43

And still no comments from Yes on Salmond trying to coerce support from the Principal of his old university.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 18/09/2014 17:57

You seem rather fixated on that. I've seen you post a couple of times but not had a chance to read anything. Fancy linking again? I'll bite to keep you happy.

Although don't expect me to stick up for him just because I've voted yes. Surely after all this time you kniw yes doesn't equal salmond or snp?

Celticlass2 · 18/09/2014 18:43

Pheadra I think the answer to your question is no. Smile

Celticlass2 · 18/09/2014 18:44

Oh, I've just seen Rita is going to indulge you.Smile Good on ya Rita. I seriously couldn't be bothered.

ashmts · 18/09/2014 19:04

Phaedra I read it earlier, what do you want us to comment on? It basically said 'politician tries to use contacts to make a point'. Hardly breaking news.

PhaedraIsMyName · 18/09/2014 19:55

I posted lots of links Rita. You have no difficulty using Google when it suits you.

Several of you were incensed about poor Kevin Bridges but the First Minster dictating what he wants an entirely independent academic to say doesn't bother you in the slightest.

It goes way beyond just "using contacts"

Surely in this fairer, better more just society it should be unthinkable for an MP to try to manipulate academics in this way?

Clearly the lies you want to hear can be ignored.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 18/09/2014 20:22

Who is this 'you' you're referring to?

So what was the story? You seem quite focused on getting someone who has voted yes to comment on it, feel free to point me in the right direction

I can Google. I tend not to allow myself to be drawn into who can Google the best response type arguments. And I'm freezing my arse of standing outside the polling station.

Go on, humour me and post the links. You must have them to hand.

Iggi999 · 18/09/2014 21:44

Ooh, are you still there Rita? What impression are you getting of how it's gone?

Pumpkinpositive · 18/09/2014 21:57

There is a very aggressive enthusiastic no voter on my FB feed who has, for months been saying that yes voters are stupid and uneducated

I've got one of those. Sakes alive, he's never OFF FB. Frothing away 24/7.

I actually wonder if he's a closet Nat trying to drive his readership to drink to vote YES.

Pumpkinpositive · 18/09/2014 21:58

Phaedra, surely one can loathe the bones of Salmond yet still be an independence supporter?

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 22:03

Admittedly if I tried to even up the volume of Yes posts on my facebook feed I'd have to post 24/7! Even though the majority of folk on it are probably No voters!

BasketzatDawn · 18/09/2014 22:08

I don't believe it. Just as the polls shut, I catch sight of my first love-bomb. SmileThey are a cute pair, the haj. But I still want to live in an independent Scotland with my lovely (English) husband and our family. Thanks anyway.

I am knackered and will not be staying up all night. DH is to waken me if he hears the final result while I am asleep IF it's the news he knows I want. If it's 'bad' from our viewpoint, I will cope better if I get a decent kip.

thehajduk · 19/09/2014 11:52

Let's now be worthy of the decision + build ever stronger links between the 4 nations.
