To fear the outcome of Indyref?

My husband is half Scottish and half English and I am seriously worried that he will be heartbroken on Thursday if Scotland votes Yes! He is worried that our little boy's British identity will be undermined. Thus he took this picture and is hoping that all of us who care will take a similar photo with a similar message to show Scotland that we care.
Not all of us get to vote, and it’s Scotland’s decision - and Scotland’s alone - to make. But all 60 million of us care what that decision is, and we have a few days now to show everyone in Scotland how much.

We shared this message on Facebook and Twitter and many have followed - here is our hope that those of us on Mumsnet who care about the British identity of our children will follow.

I wouldnt believe anything Brown has to say. Listen to Tommy Sheridan instead.

I know it's been commented on before, but oh dear.

Numanoid · 17/09/2014 18:11

It just seems too risky for me, it has been promised before and not fulfilled, so I'm not confident they will do any different now.

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/09/2014 18:12

It's risky, certainly. But no where near the scale of risks associated with a Yes vote.

OneNight · 17/09/2014 18:16

Oh they'll do it this time you can be sure of that. They have had one hell of a fright.

PhaedraIsMyName · 17/09/2014 18:18

It would be political suicide not too for all of them.

And the more I think about it having Devo Max on the same ballot paper wouldn't have worked. A final result of No using second choice would just be tolerable democratically but a final result of Yes relying on second choices wouldn't.

There should have been 2 balllots - one as we are and if Yes wins, end of story.

If No wins , then a second within a short time scale on do we want no further change or Devo Max.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 17/09/2014 20:15

Why on earth would it be political suicide? The only people that would care are the Scots and we all know our vote is worthless in Westminster so it doesn't matter a jot.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 17/09/2014 20:17

We've already ha Tory mps saying they'll block it.

And even then it would have to get past the house of Lord's.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 17/09/2014 20:20

Huge yes stall at the top of the street I work on. Was so busy all day and toots and cheers, really inspiring stuff.

Anyone else feel like it is Christmas eve?

TeamScotland · 17/09/2014 20:22

Me, me, me!

I went to our yes shop today and it was absolutely buzzing. I left there and the no shop was on my way home. Nobody there and the bloke who works there was outside having a fag.

TeamScotland · 17/09/2014 20:24

OMG Rita, you've just reminded me, a yes result means no more non-elected House of Lords. Brilliant. I notice Jeffrey Archer, convicted criminal is still on their payroll.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 17/09/2014 20:24

Did you get any info about helping out tomorrow?

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 17/09/2014 20:25

I know, I think they've got the hint that we think their a bunch of elite unelected self serving scroungers. Pretty sure they won't happily sign off our extra powers any time soon.

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/09/2014 20:29

LovleyRita, if the Yes voters are allowed to believe that:
-despite an absolute mountain of evidence to the contrary it will all be fine,
-the economy won't struggle,
-a poorer country will somehow be mysteriously fairer despite the complete lack of redistributory policies,
-the NHS will be protected despite the SNP already cutting its funding,
-we'll be in the EU immediately despite all evidence to the contrary,
-we'll be in a currency union despite all major politicians and 63% of the rUK population saying no,
-if we use sterling without a CU we won't need reserves to stabilise our economy and the cuts they would require,
-that the poorest people in the country are not going to suffer massively as a result of the economic chaos and massive cuts,
-that no major financial institutions will leave even though regulations will require it,
-that tuition fees will remain free to Scotland but not England despite it being against EU laws,
-that our shipyards will be protected despite most of the contracts being UK warships which are only built in the UK,
-that despite expert evidence, the SNP figures about oil are somehow right,
-that despite being a small, new, untested country we'll have a great credit rating even though the credit rating agencies say we won't,
-that every mainstream media source is biased, and
-that everyone who points out any of this is "scaremongering"...

Then I think the NO voters are perfectly entitled to believe in the possibility that the pledge for more powers will be honoured.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 17/09/2014 20:31

What a concise list. Smile

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/09/2014 20:39

Well I had to be brief, I actually made that one myself Wink

EarthWindFire · 17/09/2014 20:44

OMG Rita, you've just reminded me, a yes result means no more non-elected House of Lords. Brilliant. I notice Jeffrey Archer, convicted criminal is still on their payroll.

Best not go down that road when certain posters are telling us to believe everything that a certain yes campaigner has been saying, that has been convicted of purjury... Oh the irony Hmm

TeamScotland · 17/09/2014 20:46

Still no more House of Lords how much are those unelected cunts being paid to sleep?

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 17/09/2014 20:47

Glasgow looked amazing earlier, Edinburgh doesn't seem to be doing these spontaneous get togethers like that, unless I'm missing them.

House of Lords members hard at work.

TeamScotland · 17/09/2014 20:49

Rita, sky news was live from edinburgh just now. Massive Yes rally in the background.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 17/09/2014 20:49

Citizen Brother Tommy Solidarity at least works for his money!

And he's studying law which I thought was interesting.

He's not really comparable to a Lord though, as flattering as that might be I don't think he would take to kindly to the comparison.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 17/09/2014 20:51

I miss all the action.

I don't understand I follow them all on Twitter ext but always seem to miss things.

Unless they don't want me there Shock

TeamScotland · 17/09/2014 20:52

Er, ahem, messages Grin

PhaedraIsMyName · 17/09/2014 21:09

Well Rita you don't think if the devo max promises aren't kept it runs the risk of there being a majority for the SNP and we have to go through this all over again.

Personally I don't want Devo max but the alternative is much worse.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 17/09/2014 21:09

You don't want devo max? Why not?
