Welcome to indyref 6

Spidergirl8 asked close to end of last thread:

What impact would independence have on fiscal policy and economic stability
What impact would the ageing population have on the future
Is the predicted future a positive one, based on fact

If the bite goes no, what has actually been achieved? Does that not just put Scotland on the back foot?

Let's try and give not too biased answers please!

Milliband said something about the border in June. Is the mail rehashing that?

Generally I do despair of Front Bench Labour and their no-mark SpAds.

Cordelia
Reading it again I think it might actually be a positive, rather than a second-best to independence. It would be good for the many Scots who would like more freedom from WM but are feared to vote Yes.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/09/2014 22:40

Panelbase just released according to twitter

Yes: 44%
No: 48%
Undecided: 8%

Excluding undecideds
Yes: 48%
No: 52%

Oh for heavens sake Itsall, we all know Panama is an independent country.

Good. So you now accept that Scotland using Sterling outside of a currency union would be an independent country.

Did you bother to read the link to the article explains the many downsides of sterlingisation?

Of course there are downsides. There always are. But plenty of countries manage just fine.

It seems to be the opinion of a senior EU official.
A bit of googling will find you quotes from other senior officials saying the opposite.

Why would Scotland get special treatment?
Scotland already in EU
Fishing
Oil
Renewables
EU citizens resident in Scotland
Scottish citizens resident in EU...

I've decided I'm in love with Panelbase.

I'm really pondering a heated dryer rack from Lakeland, if we're onto that.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/09/2014 22:45

I've got one, its awesome

If we vote Yes Scotland won't be in the EU from 2016. We will have to reapply which will take at least 5 years.

We won't participate in European institutions during that time.

Sallyingforth · 06/09/2014 22:50

Why would Scotland get special treatment?

There is no such thing as "special treatment"
No EU official has ever said there is "special treatment"
The latest statement confirms there is no "special treatment"
"special treatment" does not exist.

You cannot force the EU when the EU say no deal,
just as
you cannot force a CU when the UK says no deal.

How many times do you need to be told?

I've only heard good things, tbh. How hot does it actually get? Would you worry about a toddler grabbing it?

OOAOML · 06/09/2014 22:51

Santana I gave the heated airer from Lakeland it is brilliant Smile

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/09/2014 22:51

Itsall, Scotland won't be in the EU when it secedes from the UK. It is the UK that is in the EU, the whole point of independence is to leave the UK.

Scotland will remain part of the UK for a fair while after the vote. Plenty of time for negotiations.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/09/2014 22:52

Is it not quite pricey to run?

squoosh · 06/09/2014 22:53

I've just had a thought............

If Scotland becomes independent they will have to have their own Eurovision entry.

SantanaLopez · 06/09/2014 22:55

If Scotland becomes independent they will have to have their own Eurovision entry.

Are you trying to give me nightmares? Shock

Cordelia I think you're muddling me and Stats up.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/09/2014 22:55

If Scotland becomes independent they will have to have their own Eurovision entry.

Well duh! Did you not know this is what the whole thing is about?

WildThong · 06/09/2014 22:55

lady it's great as it dries while the heating is off during the day, it's like 5p an hour to run and works even faster when in a room with heating on too but doesn't muffle your radiator.

One thing this referendum won't change in Scotland is the weather.

Sallyingforth · 06/09/2014 22:55

Scotland will remain part of the UK for a fair while after the vote. Plenty of time for negotiations.

Yes. The first 18 months of the "five to six years". So only four years outside the EU. That's be OK then :)
