DH got a delivery this morning....

My DD2 is a nightmare. She screams and cries if I put her in the pram, she's impossible to pacify in a restaurant or shopping etc...

So DH says this is the solution.

She's been quiet for 15 minutes!!!! Shock

To love this buggy!

Having a tablet, or indeed an ipad, or computer available in a pre school setting for children to have a got at isn't unusual. Even part of the curriculum.

But that's not two lessons a week at school is it?

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 13:17

Yes it is. On a Tuesday and a Friday after they have a snack they all sit on the carpet and have a 'lesson' with the iPad trolley. When the head teacher showed us around the school she spoke about them 'having lessons with iPads' which is why I used those words.

Oh wow.

I wonder how everyone managed to sooth their crying babies before the invention of the iPad. How did they ever manage?

chubbyhez · 23/08/2014 13:19

And it's not exactly school is it? you're tripping yourself up here.

You think it's okay to plonk a tot in a buggy with an ipad glaring at them, you took the hump when people disagree and you're sounding silly in your attempts to justify it.

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 13:19

I guess they didn't enjoy their dinner as much?

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 23/08/2014 13:20

Who didn't enjoy dinner?

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 13:21

Chubby - it is school, it's in a school, they use the hall and they play in the playground with everyone else, they wear the school uniform the same as everyone else. We call it school, DD calls it school. I fail to see how I've 'tripped myself up' to be honest.

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 23/08/2014 13:22

Curious, it's not school. That's pre school or nursery.

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 13:24

Yes. I'm aware of that Hmm

But we refer to it as school to her. It will be her school for the next 6 or so years so we have called it school from day one.

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 23/08/2014 13:27

I appreciate you call it school to her but when you are posting here why confuse the issue and call it school? Just call it nursery and everyone will know what you are talking about.

chubbyhez · 23/08/2014 13:28

There's a huge leap from an ipad in a preschool setting to lessons at school...

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 13:28

Because what does it matter? The point was about using an iPad, and the school do it for every year so the point is the same.

Anyway, I love the pram. It's going to make our brilliant holiday even better Grin

DomesticSlobbess · 23/08/2014 13:30

Good for you.

So why did you bother posting in AIBU then?

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 13:31

Why does anyone? Because I did.... Because I suspected this was the reaction I would get and was hoping to be pleasantly surprised, because a debate is fun, because I wanted to?!

Mutley77 · 23/08/2014 13:31

Sounds great. My 14 month old dd is a nightmare and won't even look at a screen let alone be entertained by one! My 9 year old didn't watch a screen until she was 2 and is extremely bright, she could write her name and easily count beyond 40 at age 2 Grin

So they are all different. I don't believe I pads are essential to children leaning basic literacy or numeracy (or even particularly helpful) yes the technology is useful but my 2 eldest haven't started using them until age 4 or so and at age 9 and 6 are both fully capable with the technology, isn't the whole point of this technology that it is easy to pick up!

Rockinghorse123 · 23/08/2014 13:32

Where can I get one????

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 13:32

FairyKing - how is buying a 60 quid pram everyone hates a stealth boast? I could do better I think Wink

Oh honestly. Lets beat up the mum who has a young DD and is having a difficult time. Seriously?!

OP, if it makes your DD happy and you are using it for a short period of time great. A less stressed out mum is surely a good thing for the DD, too?

Gorgeous DD BTW Smile

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 13:35

It's actually brilliant for holiday regardless of the iPad addition because the hood is huge...

DomesticSlobbess · 23/08/2014 13:36

OP: AIBU to love this buggy?
Majority: Yes.
OP: I don't care and I will get all defensive to anyone who doesn't love it too.

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 13:36

Thanks alpaca Smile
