DH got a delivery this morning....

My DD2 is a nightmare. She screams and cries if I put her in the pram, she's impossible to pacify in a restaurant or shopping etc...

So DH says this is the solution.

She's been quiet for 15 minutes!!!! Shock

To love this buggy!

400+ posts on a thread where the OP has clearly set out to cause a bun fight Because I suspected this was the reaction I would get

Have MN added a "hide poster" option yet?

curiousgeorgie · 24/08/2014 17:50

Just hide the thread then? Or we're you being deliberately argumentative there?

OP posts:
curiousgeorgie · 24/08/2014 17:53

Actually, I'm really glad I started this thread. Aside from the obvious, expected reaction, I got a lot of positive comments and support from those who know what it's like to have difficult children so as a result I actually feel more confident in using it while I'm away. (Plus hearing your baby is cute from strangers can only ever be a good thing Grin)

This really disturbs me. Having known a child who grew up in his car chair in front of the telly. And is now the strangest most anti social child.

You know, Georgie, there is no reason why you can't put A Book into the see through pocket Grin

curiousgeorgie · 24/08/2014 18:04

Pasithea - my children are very social. They go to lots of groups and have lots of time to play. Don't worry for them... It's a helpful holiday accessory. No different than the means to an end of letting them play with a tablet on a plane or watching a DVD in the car.

curiousgeorgie · 24/08/2014 18:06

RJ - if I had suggested that it would probably have been a much more positive thread Grin

If it makes life easier for you for 20 mins, then why not. A bit of TV for a short period isn't going to kill anyone and I'm sure op has tried to soothe her in all the traditional ways.

Some kids are just harder than others, I have 5 dd and 2 of them were hard work throughout toddler years until the present day.
If something is going to help you, and make things easier take it.

Happy kids, happy mumSmile

It doesn't mean op is tying her child to the tv all day!

Stumbelina · 24/08/2014 21:46

Glad yours have got good memories, my 5 year old can hardly remember her best friend from nursery a year after we moved away. A child she spent 2 days a week with!!! It would be wasted on mine. Good luck to you.

HavanaSlife · 24/08/2014 22:33

Grin at cup and ball

TinyDancingHoofer · 25/08/2014 00:36

If I saw someone with this I would assume their nanny had just walked out and they had no idea how to actually look after their child.

curiousgeorgie · 25/08/2014 00:53

Hoofer, you sound really lovely...

DamnBamboo · 25/08/2014 01:01

OP, your baby will be staring at a screen for how long?

I ask only because the no screen time rules are suggested for a reason.

How much screen time a day will she get in total?

p.s. I have 4 children and haven't slept much for nine years!

JustDontWantToSay · 25/08/2014 01:02

Hoofer, you sound deluded

JustDontWantToSay · 25/08/2014 01:07

I cannot believe that people are still seriously suggesting that the OP is going to damage her child's long term health through the use of a buggy with an ipad on holiday.

TinyDancingHoofer · 25/08/2014 01:11

Didn't mean that to be so harsh, just my honest first thought as I have never seen this before. Gives me the same feeling as when I first saw a five year old with their own mobile phone.

Idocrazythings · 25/08/2014 06:25

I was at the GPs a few weeks ago and had an eldery man tut and loudly exclaim how we are "raising a nation of zombies" when I gave DS 4 1/2 my iPhone to play with for a bit whilst waiting for his appointment. The man had no idea I was in there to get a health care plan written up for DS to access more services due to his behavioural issues. (Not screen related either!!)

Until you walk in someone's shoes it's best to keep unsolicited opinions to yourself. Enjoy your trip OP. Hope the buggy holds all your bags!!

PinkSquash · 25/08/2014 07:08

I don't get why it needs to be in the hood? I think it's a cruddy idea for a pram like the iphone driving wheels for toddlers as they need to learn to behave outside the house without a screen in front of them.
Yes I do have a very challenging 2 year old but he's entertained with other things rather than a screen

ziggiestardust · 25/08/2014 07:36

I'm agog for ideas over how you can get a 14 month old to 'behave outside the house'. Seriously.

Huh? Of course there are ways to distract a baby without using a screen. What do you think all the people who don't have iPads do?

curiousgeorgie · 25/08/2014 09:37

I think it's in the hood just for convenience Wink

If I handed an iPad to her it would be on the floor in 30 seconds. If I put it on a nearby table she may not be able to see it properly and it might not have the same effect, given that then we would be stuck in one place.

Where would you have put it? Underneath the seat, pimp my ride style?
