To think some people are overreacting about the new mobile site?

I appreciate it is not perfect but I think some posters are being a tad over zealous in their criticism. Someone, probably some people, spent a lot of time working on the layout, and whilst I am sure they appreciate some of the feedback, it can't be pleasant to have tons of posters writing about how awful it is/ how much they hate it/ how they think it's ruined MN for them because they simply HAVE to be able to customise their view in a particular way.

It's a different website layout that doesn't work as well for you - in the big scale of things, how serious a problem can that be?

OwnerOfAnInsanePuppy · 21/08/2014 09:56

I like the active button. Save scrolling to go back!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/08/2014 10:11

yes tobeabat they don't have to pay for so much colour now so it works out cheaper Wink

Greenrememberedhills · 21/08/2014 10:12

Thanks Nanny and kitten.

gamerchick · 21/08/2014 10:16

I like it, it loads up much faster on my phone. The rest is just gravy.

halfdrunkcoffee · 21/08/2014 10:18

I preferred it how it was before. However, I was able to post without any trouble, and I should think I'll get used to it; it's a bit like when they change Facebook and then you can't remember how it was before. I think people are entitled to comment with any feedback and problems.

I prefer to use a laptop if I can, as I find it fiddly to type anything above a very short post on my phone. In any case, I probably shouldn't look at MN on my phone so much in the day - as soon as I get my phone out DD wants to play with it.

Greenrememberedhills · 21/08/2014 10:19

Well, now I have managed to customise it , I like it a lot.

You can highlight the OP, which I was complaining about. It gives it a totally different look.

I also ticked 1000 posts at a time, which us easier than having to do it thread by thread.

Tinkerball · 21/08/2014 10:25

Kitten I'm still posting because I'm on my computer and apart from number of posts per page nothing has changed there , it's only the mobile site that I have a problem with! Not a luxury I usually have through the day.

Tinkerball · 21/08/2014 10:26

Green how have you managed to get all OPs posts highlighted in a thread like it used to be like as I can only get the first one highlighted?

Tinkerball · 21/08/2014 10:28

And where is the 1000 posts at a time option on mobile site? When I click this on desktop site it automatically changes back every time u change thread.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/08/2014 10:40

If you don't have the bookmark option, but have the other options under the "..." are you logged in?

ValerieTheVodkaFairy · 21/08/2014 10:41

I really like it. I have a degenerative eye condition, so my eyes tend to go all funny with phone screens after a while, and the new mobile site is a lot easier for me to use

nannynick · 21/08/2014 10:56

Yes logged in.

Change never goes well. Recall when Desktop version was changed from Classic to New. Got used to it though.

As we learn how to use it things will get better. Jumping to bottom by pushing addpost is useful.

hiddenhome · 21/08/2014 11:00

I can't use it on my Iphone. It's giving me a bad headache Sad

weeblueberry · 21/08/2014 11:00

I do like it and it looks and works fine on my iPhone 5s with the latest os. But what they need to do is have a dedicated feedback form that allows you to give bullet points and screenshots about the issues you're having as well as list the phone and os you're using. Because having multiple threads with lots of people complaining 'it doesn't work and is shit' is a pretty terrible way to organise feedback in any new software rollout.

kali110 · 21/08/2014 13:01

It won't even let me use the desktop site! It just takes me back into the mobile site!!
Had enough. There are other forums.

GalaxyInMyPants · 21/08/2014 13:08

Threads I'm on has changed on the desktop site now.

Suzannewithaplan · 21/08/2014 13:15

I'm getting used to it but I miss being able to see part of the content of posts on the threads I'm on page.

elQuintoConyo · 21/08/2014 13:16

I use mn on my phone. LG5 with Android.

I don't have an ipad/tablet, i don't have a Kindle. DH works from home on the laptop, so I don't access that except to Skype, certainly not to surf MN.

I don't like:

The brightness.

Can't highlight posts.

When i scroll, the bastard blue buttons at the bottom of the screen (active/pist/tio.etc) stretch up the screen - right up the screen, hiding everything, until they ping back. It is fucking annoying.

I can only see one post at a time, so scroll a lot, and that is just winding me up.

It is taking a thoroughly boringly long time to load anything, reeeeaaaallllly slow.

I can't be bothered with it anymore, quite frankly.

Oh, and I'm not going on desktop on my mobile as it is too small. And no, I'm not on Fakebook, before anyome throws that at me!

whois · 21/08/2014 14:02

It falls down on basic usability. It's shit.

Page navigation gone from the top of threads.
Fancy new buttons at the bottom of the screen, but when you tap that area of the screen on anniphone it brings up the safari navigation buttons so you have to ten tap again at the new position of the MN buttons.

Stuff takes up more room on the page so you have to scroll more for the same content.

OwnerOfAnInsanePuppy · 21/08/2014 16:55

I don't know how but my preferences like op highlighted and all on one page have come across and now I really like it!
