To think some people are overreacting about the new mobile site?

I appreciate it is not perfect but I think some posters are being a tad over zealous in their criticism. Someone, probably some people, spent a lot of time working on the layout, and whilst I am sure they appreciate some of the feedback, it can't be pleasant to have tons of posters writing about how awful it is/ how much they hate it/ how they think it's ruined MN for them because they simply HAVE to be able to customise their view in a particular way.

It's a different website layout that doesn't work as well for you - in the big scale of things, how serious a problem can that be?

I quite like the look of it, and will used to it, but they have lost a few basic useful functions (TIO, previous/next/last without having to scroll). So this cannot be described as an improvement. I'm also still wondering who actually tested it, and didn't immediately point this out.

As I suspected it's all about advertising revenue then.
Some minor tinkering will happen to pay lip service to the notion that MN cares what the posters think.
Then it will be put up or shut up time.
I don't think this is even use able on a phone.
Back to PC time.

Given the clean layout I would have expected it to be better for screen readers. Valid thing to raise with MNHQ as more and more people use screen readers not just visual impaired.

One future development of mobile devices I see as being more voice/listening control.

KittenOverlord - it may work for you, but it doesn't for others.

Apart from a cracking migraine - I can't follow a thread in an easy way. Bookmark takes me to the top. So I have to scroll back to the post. Customise doesn't work. Threads imam watching doesn't allow me to go a specific post.

These aren't a few glitches - it is truely awful.

I don't like it. There are some lovely buttons on the top but I can't work out what they do.

If the designers are listening, can we have a function that takes you back to where you were in a thread? It's a bit tiresome having to remember which page you were on in a large thread.

You might not like it, but it isn't "completely unusable" by any means.

nannynick you can bookmark last post read by clicking on the 3 little dots and one of the options is bookmark. Its pretty pointless though as when you go back to thread it doesn't take you to that post but the top of the page! Kind of defeats the purpose of a bookmark.

The bookmark function works for me (apart from the sending you back to the top thing)

TIO I is on the quick bar at the bottom or the menu at tho top.

owl it has made it unusable for quite a lot of people by the looks of it - just because you can use it doesnt mean everyone thinks the same.

I want all OP posts highlighted
I want to be able to move between pages without scrolling to the bottom
I want TIO to remember where I am not take me back to beginning
I want everybody to be able to read it easily because I don't want some fab posters to leave or post less

That to me defeats the point of a "bookmark" function - its not taking you to that post, so I don't believe it is working. I don't want pages and pages either, I want all posts on one thread except its not anymore.

I'm probably the only one that isn't bothered by the adverts though on the plus side!

Sorry, I mean that when I click bookmark it sends me to the top of the page. When I refresh or re-enter the thread it takes me to the post I had bookmarked.

I don't have an option to bookmark if I click on the three dots.:(

I hate the fact that the OP's posts aren't highlighted. I've tried the customise option but it didn't work.

TIO is rubbish now, as it just takes you to the top of the thread and provides no preview of what has been added.

I've just tried out the bookmark function and that takes me back to the post. It first opens up the page the bookmarked post is on then scrolls down to the post.

What I want to know is why no [pinkvisor]?
Think ladies, what would EKL do when faced with such changes?

This reminds me of everytime Facebook used to change and people would be up in arms about it and join groups called 'Change back to the old layout or we are leaving Facebook' etc. But ok and behold, after a few days people got used to it and stayed!

Also saw it when another big forum radically changed it's layout.

Give feedback, but I guarantee that in a few days everyone will have forgotten what the old format looked like!

I don't care be because I use the desktop version even on my phone

Ok, some constructive criticism-

  1. It's all just too big- you need to be able to see more on the screen
  2. Threads I'm on- I would like to see a snapshot of what the new comments are, not just how many people have commented
  3. Threads I'm on- I would like to go back to my last comment on a thread, not go to the op and have to scroll down, twice as much, cos it's now twice as big!

Option for posts per page is in customise, as is option to highlight op's posts

Can I ask for clarification ? What is "the mobile site"?

I have the app, and that hasn't changed one bit.

If I ignore the app and search Mn using safari, then I see the changes. Is that what people mean?

On safari I like some bits and not others. I haven't used it much but it seems the content is better laid out and the clean ness of the design good, but the 'headings' aren't strong enough.

It needs some bold text.

I cant even use the desktop version!!!
I hate the new layout. I cant hightlight the ops posts, theres no up button so i have to scroll all the way up loads more. Iv only been on here 10 minutes since yesterday because of it.
