To block this car in...

I'm at my mum's. she lives on a a fairly narrow hill, you can park on the road but it's best if you park half on the pavement. I'm going camping for the weekend with friends who are coming to pick me up in an hour. I've just popped to the shops for supplies of crisps and wine and some cheeky bugger has parked on my mum's drive.

I've text all my family and no one has any knowledge of this car. Would I be a total arse to just reverse onto the drive right upto their bumper and leave my car there for the weekend? I really don't want to leave my car half on the pavement for a whole weekend. A few of the NDNs have double buggies and there won't be enough room for them to pass. I also don't want to leave my shiny lovely car under the tree on the road cos it will be covered in bird poo and tree sap when I get back.

Mum is also away this weekend too so I can't even leave the keys. Grrrrrr.

When did she say she be back from camping. Did she leave her car blocking the alien car in.

SwearySwearyQuiteContrary · 17/08/2014 12:30

OP, wherefore art thou?

DadDadDad · 17/08/2014 12:38

sweary - you do realise that wherefore means why, as in the most famous example "wherefore art thou Romeo?" meaning "why are you are a Romeo? What does it matter that you have the name of a Montague when I am a Capulet?"

BerylStreep · 17/08/2014 12:43

I didn't know that DadDadDad.

Gruntfuttock · 17/08/2014 12:44

Indeed, DadDadDad, hence "What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet"

Fairenuff · 17/08/2014 12:47

It's commonly misunderstood Beryl, lots of people think it means 'where are you' Romeo.

ClashCityRocker · 17/08/2014 12:54

Well, you learn something new every day.

Pheonixisrising · 17/08/2014 13:05

PlodPlodPlodding · 17/08/2014 15:31

This thread has everything! Who knew a simple parking thread could include Shakespeare too! I love it. I hope there's a good ending too, even though the diamond idea would have been interesting!

PureMorning · 17/08/2014 15:35

Ive lost a large part of my weeekend refreshing this thread.

Nanny0gg · 17/08/2014 17:26

Three more pages and there will be no room for an update.

Just sayin'...

honeybeeridiculous · 17/08/2014 17:46

This thread is doing weird things!
Iv saved it to my watch lists 3 times now and it just vanishesHmm

So I'm marking my place

QOD · 17/08/2014 18:03

Groan, I just read 696 posts for nowt

SisterMoonshine · 17/08/2014 18:09

.

(I can't remember which is the least annoying for those who only want to read the significant updates, so I've put both)

Fairenuff · 17/08/2014 18:14

Nanny Ogg, don't worry, there are 12 more pages to go yet, room for just over 300 posts.

Fairenuff · 17/08/2014 18:16

And I expect OP will say, oh yeah, turns out it was my mum's mate's car. She forgot she said she could leave her car there this weekend whilst she went on the train to Edinburgh.

Or summat.
