To lie your get a refund?

Inspired by another thread sorry.

I bought some ballet style pumps from Dorothy perkins. Wore them once, walked for literally 5 minutes in them and got 3 blisters. So I took them back to the shop, truthfully told them what had happened and they wouldn't let me have a refund. They said they couldn't as they'd been worn and couldn't be resold. Fair enough you can't sell them but I can't bloody wear them! She told me they needed 'breaking in'. They cost £20 so pretty cheap for shoes but it's a lot of money to me.

Would I be unreasonable to take them to a different branch and lie and say I haven't worn them (you can't tell by looking at them) but that I tool the labels off and realised they didn't go well with the outfit I'd planned?

Try putting some (and I know this sounds random), Lanacane anti Chaffing cream on your feet where they rubbed next time you wear them and they will be fine.

Try selling them on FB selling pages/ebay as new without tags. You could get £15 for them.

Return them again! They are not fit for purpose. If they are not leather they will not break in. I'd drop an email to customer services tbh. I just returned a pair worn for 5 minutes (they they crippled me) to matalan and they were great about it.

You should be able to return them even though you wore them!

I thought I was well within my rights as like a pp said, they're not fit for purpose but she got quite shirty with me and I don't do confrontation especially with a que of customers behind me.

'Doesnt fit you properly' does not equate to ' not fit for purpose '! They are perfectly adequate shoes they just don't fit you. Bad luck I'm afraid - same happened to me easier in the summer.

I think it is pretty awful if you have got blisters/sores and want to return the shoes for someone else to end up wearing. I would not be happy wearing shoes that someone else had worn and gained blisters from.

No I wouldn't be happy to wear shoes that someone else had previously worn and got blisters from either and that's why I'll go down the customer service route but would you be happy with a pair of shoes that gave you 3 stonking sores after 5 minutes wear?! I'm a size 5, I've bought many pairs of size 5's from Dorothy perkins before. It's nothing to do with 'bad luck'. They fit me fine, they're a crap design of shoe!

If they had better customer relations people wouldn't consider lying to get a refund I feel I rightly deserve. I can ill afford to lose £20, I might as well of just thrown the money in the bin. I'm pissed off now just thinking about it!

Wow, that's rubbish, I'd be really annoyed too. I don't even think twenty pounds is cheap. A fiver and I'd probably just think 'oh well', but twenty is a lot for shoes you can't wear.

I always wear shoes indoors for an hour to see how they're going to be blisters wise. Do they accept them back at shops for a refund if you've only worn them indoors ?

Wow, do people really take shoes back for that? I've had loads of shoes over the years that have given me blisters - I just thought it was part and parcel of buying impractical naice shoes!

Surely everyone goes on a night out in massive heels and ends up walking home barefoot - and then wears them again anyway?!

Get some thick woolly socks and wear them with those around the house for a few days. The socks stretch them a bit.

I think you're being a bit daft, tbh. I'm a size 5 and have had plenty of pairs of shoes that have rubbed and given blisters at first. I put a shit load of plasters on and try to break them in or flog them on eBay or Facebook. It goes without saying that not every pair of shoes in your size is going to be a good fit.

I think Dorothy Perkins are in the right here, I would not want to buy a pair of shoes that someone else has worn.

Shops are toughening up on. 'Returns'. Reading stuff like this must strengthen their resolve

My local DP has a manager who prides herself that she NEVER gives refunds or exchanges (I know this because a friend worked there).

Doesn't matter how unreasonable, she won't back down.

Most shops will refund or exchange because it makes good business sense.

Some shops are better though, could you try another branch with the same truthful explanation. My story.
I got invited to a garden party at Buck Palace bought a gorgeous dress, couldn't find shoes, in madness and desperation I bought a pair from a small boutique which cost £270 ridiculous price but I was desperate this was a once in a life time thing. The garden party was a wash out, thunder, lightning and hail. My pretty wedges which had a woven rope design round the wedge fell apart, all the rope fell off. I was devastated, £270 down the drain, took them back, showed the store what had happened and they took them back apologised and gave me a full refund. Amazing.
I will never make the mistake of spending £270 on shoes again, I doubt I will get invited back to the palace either!
But a less grumpy customer service assistant may be willing to take them back if you explain. Otherwise, anti chaffing gel.

I'm sorry - I'm not sure you can actually really get 3 blisters in 5 minutes? I'm a bit not believing you.
