Apologies for the daily mail link and apologies if its already been done, I did have a quick look and couldn't see anything.

An old work friend posted the video of this on Facebook last night and it is horrendous... (And this absolutely doesn't excuse it) but she thought she was doing it for a holiday, but it turned out to be for a drink.

I feel so sorry for her parents (and for her actually)..

I think the rep who organised this 'game' should face prosecution...

longtime

Agree with everything you say above.

If some of the MN vipers actually watched the video they would see she is no victim of rape.

Of exploitation and a horrible joke yes

DottyDooRidesAgain · 04/07/2014 16:09

I don't believe she was assaulted.

She was encouraged and taken advantage of. Surely someone who was with here could have stepped in and stopped it.

She has to accept responsibility for her actions but the blame does not lie solely on her shoulders. All concerned lost their dignity that night and all concerned should be ashamed of themselves.
I wonder how many of the men would be happy if their daughter behaved in such way. I also wonder how many of the women involved would be happy for their sons to behave that way too.

glasgowstevenagain · 04/07/2014 16:10

Dotty

I would not want my son or daughter to act the way I did when I was 19, but they probably will...

and they will not want.... etc etc

teenagers break boundaries and learn from them!

Bambambini · 04/07/2014 16:12

But she shouldn't be singled out to be hounded and humiliated. That's sexist and so wrong.

YouAreMyFavouriteWasteOfTime · 04/07/2014 16:15

she is clearly being set up and made a laughing stock - the offer of the holiday which turns out to be a cocktail shows its all about mocking her.

misogyny.

LuluJakey1 · 04/07/2014 16:16

I don't feel sorry for her or the men. They are all sleazy and disgusting.
Without wishing to sound like some old-fashioned, right-wing, prude ('cos I'm not), these people's values in life are just wrong. They have all made choices to end up in this situation. And the ones who were videoing it are no better.
People who go to Magaluf know what goes on there and that's why they go. If they just wanted sun, a beach and a few drinks they could go to lots of places.
The holiday companies, bars and reps are worse- making money from it all- what an sleazy, immoral way to earn your living!
I have not seen it and don't want to see it. I am ashamed if they are British because most of us would not do that, or put ourselves in that situation. It is about the choices you make and the values you have.
I am hoiking my judgey pants as I write.

MostWicked · 04/07/2014 16:16

She has to take responsibility for herself.
She got drunk and is then responsible for her actions, just like if she then started a fight or drove a car.
In a completely intoxicated state, she would be unable to consent to a sexual act performed on her, but this was very much her choice. She was the one doing the performing.
Being drunk reduces inhibitions and it may make you unable to stop someone doing something to you, but you are always still responsible for your own actions.

Really what difference does it make if she was doing it for a holiday or a drink? I wouldn't do it for the holiday of a lifetime every year for the rest of my life! She was on holiday, got drunk and did something stupid that she will probably regret. That's not uncommon. She can't pass blame onto other people for her actions. She was neither raped nor assaulted. If she was conned with the belief that she would get a holiday, she can't claim that she didn't consent. She did consent, but she got underpaid.
It's like a prostitute calling rape if a client didn't pay after she consensually had sex with him.

glasgowstevenagain · 04/07/2014 16:18

It happened with Kinga in BB,

It is wrong and it should not happen, but it does,

Hopefully her name can stay out of it to ensure her future employability stays ok...

metro.co.uk/2006/12/07/sunderland-investigate-sex-tape-450268/

this was a similar situation with 3 football players and a girl who was over 16 but under 18 - it transpired that as she was under 18 any video of her would be subject to exploitation of children.

myusernameis · 04/07/2014 16:18

The woman did a stupid thing, as did the 24 men involved. I feel more and more sorry for her as time goes on. I know her name has already been revealed online. I really, really feel for her and I hope she can get through this. It would be tough for the strongest of people.

Somehow I don't think the names of any of the 24 men will be made public, unless they choose to 'out' themselves.

I don't think the men are any more responsible then she was here but the double standards are clear.

I hope she has a strong support network around her. If anyone should be named and shamed for this it should be the organisers.

glasgowstevenagain · 04/07/2014 16:19

MOSTWICKEDIt's like a prostitute calling rape if a client didn't pay after she consensually had sex with him.

OMG!!!!!!!!

I think you will find that is rape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MrsBoldon · 04/07/2014 16:20

Yes she was exploited and yes it is awful but I've seen the video (on MN last night! Which I report ed). Some men had their penises out, others didn't and you can see her trying to pull penises out of shorts, beckoning with her hands and on one occasion you can hear her saying 'give it to me'. I'm sorry to relate that as the whole scene is awful but that's what happened. Some do move away with the crowd trying to make them get their penises out!. The Geordie shore 'star' at the end, she tried but he said no and gave her the middle finger.

Shocking awful scenes but she wasn't presented with a line of penises. There were some and she had to search the crowd for the rest, some of whom I imagine did it due to the pressure of the situation and the crowd baying for it. Nobody comes out of this looking good at all.

Awful all round.

MostWicked · 04/07/2014 16:25

she is clearly being set up and made a laughing stock - the offer of the holiday which turns out to be a cocktail shows its all about mocking her.

So would it have been ok if she had won a real holiday?

If she was consenting - I think so

OMG!!!!!!!!
I think you will find that is rape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So 2 people (prostitute and client) consensually have sex, then the client doesn't pay and you believe that make the sex rape?
You can't give conditional consent to sex, you either consent or you don't!

fifi669 · 04/07/2014 16:33

Churchill: "Madam, would you sleep with me for five million pounds?" Socialite: "My goodness, Mr. Churchill... Well, I suppose... we would have to discuss terms, of course... "
Churchill: "Would you sleep with me for five pounds?"
Socialite: "Mr. Churchill, what kind of woman do you think I am?!" Churchill: "Madam, we've already established that. Now we are haggling about the price

LaurieFairyCake · 04/07/2014 16:37

Yes, of course you can give conditional consent to sex - if you have sex and agree that the man should wear a condom and he takes it off and continues then it becomes rape.

phantomnamechanger · 04/07/2014 16:38

I can't believe what I have just read - and I've only read the thread, not clicked on any links and certainly won't be seeking out the video.

How utterly seedy and revolting all round. What is the world coming to when this sort of disgusting thing can be done "for a laugh".

I do not approve of the young woman being willing to do it, at all, to multiple strangers, in public - but that she appears to have been the victim of a "joke" is beyond comprehension.

sick sick sick Sad Angry

YouAreMyFavouriteWasteOfTime · 04/07/2014 16:39

MostWicked no - I am commenting the focus of the event was to make her a laughing stock and sexually humiliate her.

and if it was not her, it would have been some other woman.

Trollsworth · 04/07/2014 16:39

Mostwicked, that is LITERALLY the most stupid thing I have ever seen anyone post on this website.

Go and educate yourself, and then, in a few years, when you have brought yourself up to speed, come back to this thread and bite your fist with embarrassment at the posts you have typed today.

TheWholeOfTheSpoon · 04/07/2014 16:41

It's an insult to rape victims to even remotely describe this as rape. Plus it's not particularly helpful to women. We're as responsible for our own actions, even when drunk, as men are.

The whole thing is grubby and sleazy, from the bar owner to the holiday reps and the participants themselves. But I don't think she should be the one named and shamed.

tethersend · 04/07/2014 16:42

"You can't give conditional consent to sex, you either consent or you don't!"

It's not that simple.

From this article:

In 2009 in the case of one woman, the defendant and complainant were in a relationship for some time. They had sexual intercourse on many occasions but the complainant wanted to end it. At this point the defendant hatched an elaborate and juvenile plan to continue the relationship by impersonating a police officer by text message to trick and manipulate the victim into believing that if she did not continue the relationship and to have sexual intercourse with him she would be fined. The Court of Appeal said this was rape.

midgeymum2 · 04/07/2014 16:43

She might regret it. She might not! It's not behaviour that I would be proud of, or engage in myself, but neither is it something I feel it's right to judge others for. As for prosecuting the rep/organisers the whole case would hinge on consent and if she is consenting then what's the problem iyswim?

GarlicJulyKit · 04/07/2014 16:44

Wicked - Of course you can give conditional consent Shock It's in the law. Or look at it this way - You agree to work on a rush project for your boss, who says he'll give you an extra day's pay. You meet the deadline but no extra pay appears. He says it doesn't matter, as you agreed to the overtime anyway Hmm

TucsonGirl · 04/07/2014 16:46

the sad thing is, this publicity will probably lead to more business for the resort of magaluf in general, and the company that organises these events in particular.

GarlicJulyKit · 04/07/2014 16:47

"It's an insult to rape victims"

I really hate this old chestnut.

I've been a rape victim. I am only insulted on behalf of the girl.
