To be glad Judy Murray isn't my MIL?

I am sure that she is a perfectly pleasant person and obviously immensely proud of her son; but all of this publicity about appearing on national TV (I think it was 'Strictly') and front page news today in the Evening Standard 'serving coffee to fans', makes me think she is being a wee bit possessive and trying to upstage the fiancée? Or is that being too harsh?

Me too, Pasta.

I find her really inspirational; more so this morning now I've heard her talking about bringing up her two small boys and re-training to do something she loved.

I'd love to have someone with someone as positive and supportive as her as my MIL.

On her own too. Fair play to her.

I loved listening to her stories of lining up cereal packets so the boys could hit a Ping pong ball across them. Great idea.

Andy Murray rubs me up the wrong way, although I've warmed to him slightly since he appointed Mauresmo as a coach. But I think YABU.

As for 'upstaging Andy Murray's fiancée'

  1. She isn't his fiancée

  2. She played a key role in his developing his tennis skills and is a high-level coach in her own right. It isn't like she's some hanger on latching on to her son's fame.

I would rather have her for a mother in law than the one I got lumped with. (Mutters Les Dawson jokes under his breath)

Just been listening to the Desert Island Discs recording and she says of her work trying to take tennis into areas where it doesn't currently exist like this:

'I say to the boys, you go out there and provide the role models and inspiration and I'll come round the back and do the grass roots and get things set up."

I think that's kind of fantastic actually.

I think she's fantastic.

And I personally wouldn't start a spiteful carping thread about someone I knew fuck all about apart from a shite article in the Standard and some Stuff I Reckoned.

Bizarre.

I would love her to be my mother in law (no disrespect to my own MIL intended). She is so young and active and lively and could teach the kids tennis and have loads of fun with them. What a great role model particularly for my DD.

My DD does tennis at the national tennis center as we live nearby. My three year old DS escaped and ran on to one of the courts a while back and threw some tennis balls around interrupting a lady running a training course.

I made my son apologize and the lady running the course was really good humored about it and got him to put the balls back where they belonged.

Afterwards I thought she seemed like a nice person but also strangely familiar looking so I looked up a picture of Judy Murray and it was her.

So apart from anything else she obviously works for the LTA running training course etc. Can't see why on earth she wouldn't or shouldn't be on TV talking about tennis.
