to post this note on an actor's car?

Background: I live down a narrow road, only 11 terraced house, on-road parking, very close to the train station. It's hard getting a space at best of times as a resident, let alone when people park down it to avoid paying station car park. I have seen this actor park his big black jeep down the road several times. And, well, this time as his trotted off looking all pleased with himself I posted this note on his car. He has starred in a major TV show and adverts am sure he can afford £4.70.

to post this note on an actor's car?
OP posts:

Ah, yet another poster who thinks they own the road and nobody else should be allowed to park on it. Get a life. YABVU.

Boudica1990 · 19/06/2014 15:53

Laurie maybe he can afford a expensive car because he minds his pennies, and dosnt waste money on hyperinflated car parking. Grin

OwlCapone · 19/06/2014 15:54

At some point you'd think I've just done a 12 hour shift and earned 70 quid and I'm a bit knackered and do I really have to walk for 5 extra minutes cos some arse in an expensive car has taken up a space on my street ?

Except that's irrelevant as the OP has a drive and no problem with parking.

WireCat · 19/06/2014 15:57

Tbh op, makes you sound a bit unhinged.

Saganoren · 19/06/2014 15:57

And there's also leaving unpleasant notes on someone's windscreen rather than thinking hey-ho, that's annoying

But the OP is clearly used to and enjoys this kind of reaction

Nancy66 · 19/06/2014 15:58

station car parks are usually full by 7am. I doubt it's too avoid paying four quid.

LaurieFairyCake · 19/06/2014 15:58

Of course you're right Boudica - all the really rich folk I know are brilliant at not wasting money when they don't need to.

And owl I read it that the OP was miffed on behalf of her neighbour. Maybe the OP doesn't like to see her care assistant neighbour struggle to get parked when there's a big Jeep taking the space.

ProtegeMoi · 19/06/2014 16:10

OP - AIBU?

Whole of mumsnet - YES!

OP - No I'm not.

On it goes again and again!

Why post in AIBU when you clearly are not willing to accept that you are?

kali110 · 19/06/2014 16:10

You sound lovely

mummytime · 19/06/2014 16:17

You should campaign your council to put in parking restrictions, otherwise he has a perfect right to park there. I used to park in a residential street, because there wasn't room in the staff car park for everyones cars (and I couldn't get the 10 miles to work by public transport in less than 1 1/2 hours). I once got a note, it was politer than yours, I just parked outside a different house - those residents could have thought I was going to the station - but actually I worked in their town.

Notso · 19/06/2014 16:29

...the on street parking doesn't really affect me.

It affects you enough to write petty little notes and start a thread on an Internet forum.

I don't know what the obsession with being able to park within millimetres of your front door is.

JakeBullet · 19/06/2014 16:31

Actually I can understand the OP's irritation to an extent. It's a nightmare if you have done a long shift and cannot park. In all honesty the actor (whoever it is) should park in a public car park and pay the cost. Legally though he has paid his road tax and is doing nothing wrong by parking on a public street....annoying but not illegal.
Not sure I'd have the brass neck to leave a note on his car though.

TheNumberfaker · 19/06/2014 16:33

Yabu. It's an unrestricted road so anyone can park there. Lobby the council if you want to make it residents only...

Icimoi · 19/06/2014 16:34

YABU, childish and silly. If I were you I'd go and take the notice away before he gets back to the car.

GoshAnneGorilla · 19/06/2014 16:37

Sharon and the wasps.

I need to hear more about Sharon and the wasps.

"At some point you'd think I've just done a 12 hour shift and earned 70 quid and I'm a bit knackered and do I really have to walk for 5 extra minutes cos some arse in an expensive car has taken up a space on my street ?"

Yes, many of us do fall prey to bitter, envious and resentful thoughts, experience self-pity and then self-righteousness...but then we realise we are being unreasonable before leaving anonymous notes on people's cars, letting them know that 'we know who you are' in a creepy and hostile fashion.

If you would have said it to his face, why didn't you sign your note and give your door number?

Grandstanding. Cowardly grandstanding.

Is it Jon Thomson?

Why did you feel the need for it to be anonymous? Surely if you stand by what you said you could have put your name/address on it so that the actor had the chance to speak to you about it? No, didn't think you'd like to do that.

^^Yes this posted my MrsDe at 14:11. You know who he is but he hasn't a clue who you are. Definitely smacks of the stalkerish or poison-pen.

Also, you are assuming that he parked there to avoid the 4.70. I don't know what the car park at your local station is like, but if it is anything like parking in our town then, unless you are there well before 7am, you can't get a space anyway. For all you know he might have parked where he did because he couldn't find anywhere else near enough to the station - free or otherwise. In which case lobby your council for both resident parking rights and better parking provision.

frankie001 · 19/06/2014 17:10

Another one for yabu. Actor, rich etc or not, if there's no restrictions tough luck.
