to post this note on an actor's car?

Background: I live down a narrow road, only 11 terraced house, on-road parking, very close to the train station. It's hard getting a space at best of times as a resident, let alone when people park down it to avoid paying station car park. I have seen this actor park his big black jeep down the road several times. And, well, this time as his trotted off looking all pleased with himself I posted this note on his car. He has starred in a major TV show and adverts am sure he can afford £4.70.

to post this note on an actor's car?

OwlCapone - No, he wasn't blocking my enterance. In fact I am lucky as I am the only house down the street to have a drive so the on-street parking doesn't really affect me.

In which case, tough. He is perfectly entitled to park there and you are simply being arsey.

Davsmum · 19/06/2014 14:27

It does seem unfair when you cannot park near to your own house - but that is why we bought a house with a driveway because we would not want the hassle of not being able to park near our own home. If we couldn't have got a driveway, we would have bought a house where this sort of thing is not a problem.

You need to do your homework before you buy a house. No good buying or renting and then start moaning about the situation.

The Actor is not doing anything illegal so you don't really have the right to have a go at him

OnlyLovers · 19/06/2014 14:29

Let's cut to the chase.

Who is it?

Pumpkinpositive · 19/06/2014 14:30

Christ, that is pathetic. And hardly likely to achieve the desired effect. Unless the desired effect is to make him want to keep parking there.

ellabelle · 19/06/2014 14:31

How do I do get the names to come up in black so I don't have to keep copying and pasting? And the strike through too?

Well, this certainly is a lively forum. I have many more AIBU to post (all true, otherwise what the hell is the point?). I have been round forums long enough to recognise a troll but based on the accusations I am getting quite clearly not all of you here have...

Yabu. Anyone has the right to park in that space.

If you are so worried about the care worker at number 5, maybe offer him/her your driveway?

No? Thought not.

Youdontneedacriminallawyer · 19/06/2014 14:33

It's not your income that matters, it's your outgoings. You have no idea how much disposable income the man has. Not that it makes any difference. If he's parked legally, then there's nothing you could/should do to stop him. Perhaps he does enjoy the 3 min walk from car to station after a long drive to get that far.

You might have got a bit of sympathy from him if you'd left him a polite note explaining that it's difficult for residents to park, and you'd be very grateful if he'd consider using the designated station car park etc etc. If you'd left that note on my car, I'd be doubly sure to park right where it annoys you most.

Did you put a similar note on all the cars parked in your road which don't belong to residents? Do you ever park your car on a road you don't live on? Why pick on the actor?

ellabelle · 19/06/2014 14:33

Pumpkinpositive - that's exactly what my DH said and probably true.

Nerf · 19/06/2014 14:34

I just wondered if it was wise that's all. If he/she gets the note and is pointed to this thread do you really want a knock on the door?

Pumpkinpositive · 19/06/2014 14:35

Ok, Ella, you're not a troll. Profuse apologies on behalf of everyone who's doubted the veracity of your first (?) ever post to these boards.

You're just a garden variety passive aggressive, self entitled, supercilious busybody with a chip on her shoulder.

That better? Smile

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 19/06/2014 14:35

Ella - on MN we do get parking trolls. Also poo trolls. And my personal favourite, Sharon and the wasps.

CarpetBagger · 19/06/2014 14:37

Well yes...you might still be, as the point is the note rather than the content but if you want him to actually not park his car there, explain why.

thecageisfull · 19/06/2014 14:38

YABU. Anybody can park there. My friend is an actor. She has been the lead in a couple of TV shows but she's on the bones of her arse most of the time not helped by her talentless husband thinking he's Stephen Spielburg but that's a different story

iMacHunt · 19/06/2014 14:40

I'm going to guess David Tennant.

G'wan tell us who it is.

iK8 · 19/06/2014 14:40

I think if you're going to leave a note it's prob best not to look as if a particularly obnoxious 7 year old has written it.

But really, probably best to just get a life no?

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 19/06/2014 14:42

Type * then immediately without spacing add the poster's name then without a space type another asterisk.

I expect the actor will be chuffed at having been recognised .

Unless he parked on the pavement blocking access I'm afraid he is able to park where he likes.

Nancy66 · 19/06/2014 14:42

most actors are piss poor - unless we're talking real A lister here.

if it's legal to park there then he is doing nothing wrong. Chances are the car park gets full very quickly.

Pumpkinpositive · 19/06/2014 14:43

I'm going to guess David Tennant.

In that case, she is being quintuply unreasonable.

And him with all those little mouths to feed. Sad

Floggingmolly · 19/06/2014 14:43

Isn't it the orange arsehole, or was that just an example??? (Op's post of 14.24)

ellabelle · 19/06/2014 14:46

Pumpkinpositive - I think that is almost right. But more aggressive than passive aggressive normally. Although based on this note you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise. I will have to post a few more AIBU (I could just do a random sample from my FB feed).

Mother and baby parking and petit filous most common fuffle thread where I come from.

iK8 - pretty normal looking handwriting I would say? And you graphologist you, being able to tell how obnoxious someone is by the slant of their handwriting.

steff13 · 19/06/2014 14:50

If I knew where David Tennant was parking, I'd be too busy stalking him to leave him notes on his vehicle.

Milmingebag · 19/06/2014 14:51

O.P. you are behaving like a massive tit.

wildfig · 19/06/2014 14:52

I think it would be more effective if you did some proper research into everyone parking against your personal wishes.

"you! You, the marketing analyst! Your salary of £57,750 inc private health insurance and gym membership is more than enough to pay for parking!'

"Hey! Dentist man! I checked your entry at Companies House and you can definitely afford a taxi to work.'

And so on. The combination of self-righteousness and stalking will soon scare anyone off from parking in your street.
