to post this note on an actor's car?

Background: I live down a narrow road, only 11 terraced house, on-road parking, very close to the train station. It's hard getting a space at best of times as a resident, let alone when people park down it to avoid paying station car park. I have seen this actor park his big black jeep down the road several times. And, well, this time as his trotted off looking all pleased with himself I posted this note on his car. He has starred in a major TV show and adverts am sure he can afford £4.70.

to post this note on an actor's car?

Very unreasonable and an aggressive thing to do. Feel sorry for the poor guy. As long as it's legal parking, you had no right.

Mintyy · 19/06/2014 14:54

Did you honestly think anyone would say yanbu?

ellabelle · 19/06/2014 14:56

milmingebag and that coming from someone called mingebag?

OP posts:
BristolRover · 19/06/2014 14:57

can I completely derail this by asking how you can tell this is OP's first post? ta

Milmingebag · 19/06/2014 14:57

The clue is in the first three letters.....

Oh dear.

TooSpotty · 19/06/2014 15:00

It seems a bit petty to be honest. I know it's annoying when people do things like that, but singling him out because you recognise him actually sounds like you're being a bit of a sad namedropper.

Badvoc2 · 19/06/2014 15:02

It's a public highway.
He pays his car tax.
Yabu.

partialderivative · 19/06/2014 15:03

You are being an arse if you think an actor should not park where anyone else can park.

A really big arse.

magpiegin · 19/06/2014 15:03

YABU. How dare someone park legally on a road. What a shocker? How much he earns is irrelevant. Just petty. Don't see how someone even cares enough to write the note.

missmargot · 19/06/2014 15:04

OP I know you're not a troll, I'm fairly sure I know you from elsewhere. Posting about other people parking on the street outside your house is like posting about Petit Filous elsewhere plus AIBU can have a sense of humour failure.

Of course you don't know how much money he earns and of course you can't stop him parking on your street but honestly the way some people are reacting it's as if she's slashed his tyres or keyed his car, not put a note on it.

Badvoc2 · 19/06/2014 15:04

God, I wish you all lived near my mum instead if the PA prick who reversed into my car in Sunday trying to get as close as humanly possible because I dared park in "his" space!
:(

Pumpkinpositive · 19/06/2014 15:06

I can think we can safely add self important and really likes the sight of her own posts to this growing list. Hmm

ellabelle · 19/06/2014 15:08

toospotty I'm a name dropper without actually giving his name? Now that is one hell of a talent.

milmingebag I have no idea what you are talking about? Do you mean your MIL is a mingebag?

OP posts:
ellabelle · 19/06/2014 15:12

Pumpkinpositive what? So the etiquette here is you post then don't respond to individual insults? That's sounds shit- fun. Anyway I have got to go now, will return when I have parked up down my narrow road.

OP posts:
Lovecat · 19/06/2014 15:14

hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa at the idea that any actor outside the a-list is wealthy.

As for this 'I've posted on load of forums so I can't possibly be a troll' pomposity - you do realise that you can say what you like on the interweb and it - shock! - might not be true?

I'm actually Pippa Middleton. The pic of a fat, ageing, speccy bird on my profile is just to throw the paparazzi off the scent...

TalisaMaegyr · 19/06/2014 15:15

Oooh ellabelle, you're an interesting one. Stick around, you could be fun! Grin

TooSpotty · 19/06/2014 15:17

Name dropping to him. Perverse sucking up really.

SirNoel · 19/06/2014 15:17

I'd be lying if I said I'd never been wound up by parking but no, your note is crap, don't embarrass yourself

Badvoc2 · 19/06/2014 15:17

I assume you saw the road prior to moving in?
And were aware of the existence of the station?....

WorraLiberty · 19/06/2014 15:18

What a bizarre thread

I can only hope he Tweets about this so many more people can roll their eyes about the petty note Grin

YouMakeMeHappy · 19/06/2014 15:24

You aren't making sense. I can't read your note either (iPad mini) but if he is parking there to save buying a ticket then it must be because he needs to save money. My station car park costs 11 pounds a day.

Like you say, it won't be because he enjoys the walk.

If I was you I'd run and take it off, it makes you seem loony

isitsnowingyet · 19/06/2014 15:30

I say the OP has done a fine job of standing up for herself! Good for you!

I try not to start threads on Mumsnet as they can sometimes end up in a crazy bun fight about not a lot in particular.

Unbelievable the amount of people sticking up for the 'poor actors' who probably can't afford parking fees of £4.70 like others. Yeah right, I feel so sorry for them.

Just for the record though, perhaps leaving a note was a teensy bit over the top if it wasn't directly blocking you in.

CorporateRockWhore · 19/06/2014 15:35

saskia what the hell is Sharon and the wasps?

That sounds like something I have to read, immediately.

LaurieFairyCake · 19/06/2014 15:36

Ok, he has the right to park there same as everyone else

But surely if he's very obviously wealthy (the CAR, not the acting) the OP can be slightly miffed?

If someone parks an 80k Range Rover in a residential street to avoid a £4.70 parking charge you'd raise an eyebrow surely if you lived there and you were a care assistant on minimum wage and couldn't park outside?

At some point you'd think I've just done a 12 hour shift and earned 70 quid and I'm a bit knackered and do I really have to walk for 5 extra minutes cos some arse in an expensive car has taken up a space on my street ?

I mean there's legally right and complying with the law...

And there's being a teeny bit of an arse...

CharmQuark · 19/06/2014 15:43

I hope you get done for harrassment.

He has paid his road tax and can park anywhere he likes on unrestricted parking.

Really, really nasty to place such a personal and stalkery note.

You sound like a loon.
