to post this note on an actor's car?

Background: I live down a narrow road, only 11 terraced house, on-road parking, very close to the train station. It's hard getting a space at best of times as a resident, let alone when people park down it to avoid paying station car park. I have seen this actor park his big black jeep down the road several times. And, well, this time as his trotted off looking all pleased with himself I posted this note on his car. He has starred in a major TV show and adverts am sure he can afford £4.70.

I live in a village with a station that has just three, repeat three parking spaces but unregulated parking on the ample roads, over 100 empty spaces at all time of the day and night. Sometimes I have to drive from my side of the village to other, and park on one of the roads in order to use the train - I have a Blue Badge. I am out the house 11-12 hours so it's a long working day. All the houses on that road have driveways with parking for 2-3 cards minimum and as I said, the road has never got more than one or two cars parked on it out of, say, 100 possible places.

Residents from that area think they own the road. They have repeatedly put snotty notes on my car and written on snow/frost on my windscreen telling me not to park. They also write to the village newsletter about it and moan at length. However it's clear from the newsletter they are under the impression that it's people from outside the village doing this, and refuse to understand that it's their disabled neighbours from the other side of the village having to do it. They don't actually need the parking, they are just being territorial.

Basically if it's not residents' parking only, I don't think it's reasonable to make a fuss. If you mind, then campaign for residents' parking.

well this has cheered my afternoon up, how lovely to be embraced into a new forum with such open arms.

FWIW, this is the kind of street where, despite unrestricted parking technically open to the whole world to park down, we all leave one space outside the 82 yr old lady's house so she can park directly outside her house. The next time a car is in that space I will presume it is a member of Mumsnet parking there exercising their freedom to park anywhere they want.

Yes, OP, because they'd KNOW it was an 82 year old lady.

Don't tell us you seriously thought anyone would be impressed by your note?

ppplease · 19/06/2014 17:40

I have been left wondering if you are waiting for just 1 poster to agree with you. And then you would be happy and feel justified and right?

Smilesandpiles · 19/06/2014 17:41

Quack

PossumPoo · 19/06/2014 17:42

OP that was a horrible thing to do. And then to take a pic, what a charmer you are! I've not RTFT but I assume you posted it on your FB to tell everyone what a funny thing you did Hmm

Hope you feel like an arsehole.

Smilesandpiles · 19/06/2014 17:42

Possum - read the thread. It's worth it.

Saganoren · 19/06/2014 17:42

I think OP is enjoying the attention

Nancy66 · 19/06/2014 17:43

is it one of the cast of It Ain't Half Hot Mum?

That would really impress me

ellabelle · 19/06/2014 17:47

Of course I didn't think he would be impressed by the note, that was the point! I couldn't give a rat's arse if no-one agrees with me. I am supposed to not reply anymore, is that the done thing here? If so, how boring.

This road is a dead-end side road, it is tiny and there is no way you would not realise that by parking down here as a non-resident would not cause a problem to residents (if that's not too many double negatives).

Oh yes, of course. Silly me.

So if 1000 posters say that she was BU she would be happy I guess.

glenthebattleostrich · 19/06/2014 17:55

What did the note say and who is the actor? If its Richard armitage I'm happy to take him into a quiet room and have strong words.

maddy68 · 19/06/2014 17:57

Provided he has got valid car tax he is as entitled to park there as he is. Just be careful that there is no damage to his car as you have now proved that you have a gripe and a prime suspect!

Boudica1990 · 19/06/2014 17:58

Wah wah wah wah wah........cry me a river.

I think you have issues.

Flossyfloof · 19/06/2014 17:59

OP, I think YABU and unnecessarily unpleasant. I understand what a pain it is when there is hardly any space for residents to park but the note is pretty nasty.

DottyDooRidesAgain · 19/06/2014 18:02

Hello OP.

Welcome to MN. Grin

Thenapoleonofcrime · 19/06/2014 18:03

This is why houses around a station are not that desirable, it's like buying a house opposite a school and then complaining there's loads of parents parking there dropping their kids off.

Plain fact is- you don't own the road.

Your note is horrible.

Living near a station, this is to be expected and if you feel so strongly about it, why not write letters to the council asking for permit parking instead of penning nasty anonymous notes to people?

CorporateRockWhore I'm not sure if the threads are still around, they may have gone poof for being iffy. But in brief, the OP posted about a woman called Sharon who had the hots for her DP, a man who dances like a T-Rex. Sharon also tried to steal the OP's slippers, and squished a wasp against her newly painted wall. There was other stuff too, it was very entertaining Grin

CharmQuark · 19/06/2014 18:21

Is it Jeremy Clarkson?

MrsBigginsPieShop · 19/06/2014 18:21

OP as an aside, with your references to Peter Andre and such good descriptions of your road I'm afraid I now know exactly where you live (I think). Please be careful with what you post.
