to post this note on an actor's car?

Background: I live down a narrow road, only 11 terraced house, on-road parking, very close to the train station. It's hard getting a space at best of times as a resident, let alone when people park down it to avoid paying station car park. I have seen this actor park his big black jeep down the road several times. And, well, this time as his trotted off looking all pleased with himself I posted this note on his car. He has starred in a major TV show and adverts am sure he can afford £4.70.

to post this note on an actor's car?

it makes you look like a weird stalker for singling him / his car out for legally parking somewhere that doesn't actually even affect you. So yes, YABU

Boomer51 · 19/06/2014 14:11

I hope he laughs in your face. He's parked legally. Get over it or move house.

BIWI · 19/06/2014 14:12

And you chose this as your very first post on MN? Hmm

It was rude, silly and pointless. It's a public road and anyone can park there. YMBR for getting cross with people parking there, but there's nothing you can do about it whilst it is a public road with no parking restrictions

bigmouthstrikesagain · 19/06/2014 14:12

Instead of frankly stalkerish and Passive Aggressive notes on cars - Why don't you start putting cones or wheelie bins in the road to prevent parking legally on the public highway - that is what my loony former neighbours did on our street (near a commuting station in London) - then we got resident parking so they continued putting cones etc out to save 'their' spot... parking issues always bring out the best in folks Hmm

VisualiseAHorse · 19/06/2014 14:13

YABU.

Saganoren · 19/06/2014 14:14

I am lucky as I am the only house down the street to have a drive so the on-street parking doesn't really affect me

Even more reason to pick on somebody just because they happen to have a job that makes them recognisable freak

NorksAreMesssy · 19/06/2014 14:14

Who is the actor...we all want to know

Plus YABU

FatalCabbage · 19/06/2014 14:14

And it doesn't even affect you?!

Nerf · 19/06/2014 14:15

Erm , you have just identified your house out of the 11 to anyone finding said note on car or just walking past it

CarpetBagger · 19/06/2014 14:16

your note isnt getting the to heart of the issue though he will just think some bitter cheesed off person is berating him.

if you had written would it be possible to park somwhere else your car keeps blocking our narrow road, what if we need an ambulance down....he may feel more inclined to solve gthe probldm

Sorry, ' the on street parking does not really affect me'...so why take issue with someone who has done just that? Very odd.

ellabelle · 19/06/2014 14:17

LookingThroughTheFog - actually that is spot on. Let's hope Peter Andre (another regular in area in his yellow lamborghini) doesn't park down here too, who knows the kind of letter I will unleash on him?

Smilesandpiles · 19/06/2014 14:19

I'm not sure if this thread is actually a stealth boast now.

LookingThroughTheFog · 19/06/2014 14:19

You know I wasn't agreeing with you, right?

You are being unreasonable. You're attacking someone because you've recognised him, and made a snap, possibly erroneous judgement about him.

Smilesandpiles · 19/06/2014 14:19

*isn't

not is

thedancingbear · 19/06/2014 14:19

This is shockingly rude and unpleasant. How would you like it if someone left an abusive note on your car. Grow up OP.

DeWee · 19/06/2014 14:19

Perfectly reasonable as long as you've never taken any advantage of a sale offer or something going cheap on the basis that there's probably someone worse off than you who could then buy it.

Playfortoday · 19/06/2014 14:21

ooo I once gave a dirty look to an actor who parked his big black jeep in a parents' parking space with no children on board. Wonder if it was the same one.

ellabelle · 19/06/2014 14:21

Smilesandpiles - are you suggesting I am a troll? I have been on forums for year and years and several mentions of Mumsnet recently on two I frequent made me come over here.
Nerf - and...?
CarpetBagger - good points, but surely if I did that I wouldn't be posting on AIBU?

Boudica1990 · 19/06/2014 14:22

Ella it's called are you being unreasonable? Notice the question mark,

The answer is yes.

You have no right to be the lord mayor of parking. It makes no difference who he is, he is parked legally. Get over yourself, and get on with your life. Stop being such a fucking busy body....

steff13 · 19/06/2014 14:22

So, who is it?

If he's parked legally, the note is pretty rude, IMO.

ppplease · 19/06/2014 14:22

One of the first things I learnt on mumsnet was that you have no more right to the piece of road outside your house than anyone else in the world does.
You would think you do, but you dont.
So, tough I am afraid.

ppplease · 19/06/2014 14:23

I dont think a troll needs to write this.
There are probably 5 million people who feel like writing the same sort of thread every week!

ellabelle · 19/06/2014 14:24

LookingThroughTheFog - yes I get that. I am agreeing with you.
Smilesandpiles - what am I boasting about? Peter Andre, oooh that uber successful pop star drives his car in the same area I live in ergo I am so rich and successful myself?!
