Party uninvite

BatterseaGirl · 18/06/2014 20:41

So I had an email inviting DD to a party. It's a joint party and between the two girls they have invited five children. It's quite a special day out. DD very excited and I replied straightaway with a yes (replied to both mums). Then this evening I had a text from one of the mums saying - "sorry there's been a mix up with the invites ! DD has already promised to others. I'll speak to you tomorrow" AIBU to be livid? And what should I reply?

Can't get over some people charge people to go to their parties?!! Does this really happen?

mumeeee · 19/06/2014 20:29

Glad it has worked out for you OP. That was very rude and mean of mean Mum to uninvite your DD especially as it is a joint party and your DD was on the other girls list, Glad nice Mum and her DD want your DD at the party, Sounds like mean Mum will have some explaining to do

nippysweetie82 · 19/06/2014 20:29

There's no way that I would be buying two birthday presents. I would only buy for the girl who actually invited your dd. Either that or give the other girl a token gift from the pound shop.

DustBunnyFarmer · 19/06/2014 20:58

This thread reminds me why I haven't done a joint party since DS1 was in reception. This year he wants to have a few boy pals round to play/talk about Minecraft and eat pizza. Win!

ChasedByBees · 19/06/2014 21:00

Why TF does mean mum think she has the right to uninvite - and then try and charge?! - the guest of the other child?

I hope you're going to be suitably frosty when you see her next?

rollonthesummer · 19/06/2014 21:20

Was mean mum party to this latest email?

Clutterbugsmum · 19/06/2014 21:33

Sounds like mean mum either wants money from those she has invited or has invited too many friends so now want to muscle in on ther child invites. Where as nice mum is paying for her dd birthday treat.

I would either ignore any texts from mean mum or tell her that nice mum has comfirmed as your dd was on her dd list of friends to invite and as such the invitation has been accepted on that basis.

Aeroflotgirl · 19/06/2014 22:20

Fantastic, all your dd needs to do is turn up!

Zucker · 19/06/2014 22:35

Sounds like she's trying to pull the old mumsnet favourite.....profiting from an event you're hosting. Cheeky mare.

starlight1234 · 19/06/2014 22:37

Yes I would ignore any further texts from mean mum.. Don't even text Mean mum only deal with nice mum

BatterseaGirl · 19/06/2014 22:41

Have ignored a call from mean mum!

Watercolourfootballs · 19/06/2014 22:48

Maybe she's just caught up with the thread?

noneofyours · 19/06/2014 22:50

BatterseaGirl Keep ignoring, if she's this contradictory and trying them get it in writing!

Aeroflotgirl · 19/06/2014 22:57

Just ignore mean mum the invite to your dd is not from her dd but nice mums dd, so you deal with nice mum.

Simile · 19/06/2014 23:06

So mean mum wanted to exclude your DD so she can use the spare ticket for another child. Then when that backfired tapped you for money so she can invite others? Cheeky mare.

Best keep ignoring her or the drama will continue.

Aeroflotgirl · 19/06/2014 23:07

I bet nice mum won't do another party with bad mum again!

MintyChops · 19/06/2014 23:12

Well done for ignoring her call. If she approaches you tomorrow at school Just keep it breezy and brief "Oh, all sorted, turns out DD is on Nice Mum's DD's list to invite but thanks anyway you fucking snake. Ooh, must dash; see you on . "

Nanny0gg · 19/06/2014 23:15

NO! Don't ignore!

Now you have confirmation from Nice Mum you need to hear if Mean Mum is going to apologise continue to extort money from you towards the party.

Or come up with some lame explanation.

Aeroflotgirl · 19/06/2014 23:20

Exactly minty, at school keep it breezy, and what minty has said.

NoodleOodle · 20/06/2014 01:09

Agree with the advice to just ignore any communication from mean mum from now on. Nice mum has confirmed that your DD is invited, as a guest (not flipping paying!), so I'd let it stand at that. Do make sure your gift for mean mum's daughter is something from the pound shop though, or get something really annoying like something that makes a lot of noise or stains things.

PrincessBabyCat · 20/06/2014 01:16

Yes, get her loom bands. They make a mess and get everywhere. :)

Aeroflotgirl · 20/06/2014 10:06

Or harma beads Grin

Floggingmolly · 20/06/2014 10:08

Or moonsand...

redexpat · 20/06/2014 10:21

Anything with glitter ...

yoshipoppet · 20/06/2014 14:04

I'm wondering if mean mum is related to Gluezilla from Tidydancer's famous thread?
