Dn seams to always be coming home with sweets, I just think it should be up to the parents to decide on these things, I would be livid. Should the school ban this?

We obviously mix in different circles Lots of my friends have children with autism and have far bigger fish to fry in getting their children an education to meet their needs that the odd bag of sweets wouldn't register I suppose and with my older ones well there seemed to be far fewer rules around schools then as well and anyone mentioning sweets as a problem would have been viewed as deranged by the teachers as well I imagine.

Maryz I think you have been very unfair distributing chocolate on this thread. There are posters....... like me...... who don't like chocolate and so it shouldn't be allowed on the off chance I might feel upset.

Supermarkets should sell them. If not try the offf licenses or corner shops as they tend to have halal sweets. Ones round here do anyway.

Strangely enough reading this thread made me wander off and get myself some cheese. I must be broken.
As for the subject, I do understand that 'just one little packet' can mount up to a problem if people are not taking note of the overall amount, so I can see why some people are concerned. But most parents do take note and do ensure that it doesn't mount up, so banning seems a bit of an overkill. Those parents who do struggle to give their kids a healthy diet would struggle regardless of the odd packet of birthday treats. I would say educating parents on healthy choices would be more logical but that's already happening. Maybe once the current push towards educating parents on food had had time to bed in we will see children's health improve, and the odd packet of sweets won't be seen as such a big deal.
