and apparently similar results across Europe.

Front Nationale have done particularly well in France. Guardian is reporting similar successes for far right parties in Greece and Denmark.

I am unnerved.

This is where I think Australia has got it right.

Voting is mandatory. If you don't vote you get fined, quite a large amount too IIRC.

Voter apathy is a lot more damaging than anyone seems to realise.

gordyslovesheep · 26/05/2014 00:14

no it's not - although you seem very reluctant to discuss it - does fascism not worry you?

I have no worries about a referendum as, when properly explained, most people will vote to remain in the EU

FidelineandFumblin · 26/05/2014 00:14

Congratulations on your first brown child fifi

Probably should have mentioned my two brown DC to make that sound less erm dodgy Confused

FidelineandFumblin

I would think that any main party who has a referendum would adopt an exit policy.

When we leave Europe Farage is resigning and retiring.

And voters like myself will revert back to how I usually vote.

RazzleDazzleEm · 26/05/2014 00:17

The bbc are LOVING THIS! The Drama, they are even flashing purple.

I bet the conserves are shitting themselves!

caruthers · 26/05/2014 00:17

No caruthers, the left are saying fascism because it IS fascism, make no mistake about that.

Osbourne RESPECTS farage ....don't you find that odd?

UKIP have had a landslide here and until we get a referendum it's going to continue.

RazzleDazzleEm · 26/05/2014 00:17

What the FUCK!!!

THE depth and richness of the purple!

I would love to have been in the meeting that dreamt up this Map!

FidelineandFumblin · 26/05/2014 00:18

Oh yes I understand the one-aim party thing.

I do NOT understand how any exit policy could ever work smoothly. I honestly think blood would be shed.

But I also think this is a flash in the pan.

Are you suggesting British citizens will riot if we have a referendum and vote yes?

If that happens I hope the police keep order.

gordyslovesheep · 26/05/2014 00:20

their 'landslide' was hardly visible in the local elections and won't transfer to a general

Nic Griffin has shown them their future

AmberLeaf · 26/05/2014 00:20

Well done North West! First place tonight that UKIP hasn't won. Grin

FidelineandFumblin · 26/05/2014 00:22

Are you suggesting British citizens will riot if we have a referendum and vote yes?

Do you think it is the British citizens who would be most upset!?

So who do you think are going to start rioting and why?

If we democratically vote to leave Europe then that's democracy in action.

Smilesandpiles · 26/05/2014 00:25

This isn't looking well for racial relations across the uk does it? Theres already been a few rumbles in my area over the past week as it is.

I can see us having riots like we did a couple of years ago.

RazzleDazzleEm · 26/05/2014 00:26

Who is going to be rioting against who?

caruthers · 26/05/2014 00:27

So the left riot because they don't like it?

But if the right do it they are thugs?

Spot the hypocrisy here!

FidelineandFumblin · 26/05/2014 00:27

We can't welcome several million people with open arms and happily take their taxes caruthers and then expect that every last one of them will quietly leave without a murmur from them of their British friends. There are millions of EU nationals with jobs, mortgages, partners, children pets etc. What do you think will happen if their right of residence is suddenly stripped from them?

OP posts:
Smilesandpiles · 26/05/2014 00:28

"Who is going to be rioting against who?"

Idiots against other idiots. It's not taking much for anyone to have a reason at the moment. Left or right, immigrant or not...it doesn't matter.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 26/05/2014 00:29

An exit policy won't work smoothly. Getting out will be exceptionally difficult if not verging on impossible. Farage knows this. He also knows he's very unlikely that this support will follow through to a GE. Which is why he can sit and say he wants a referendum and will offer one. He's not going to get in to offer one so it's not going to backfire on him. It just puts pressure on the party in charge. Which is kind of his job as leader of a party not in power.

Cameron on the other hand is screwed. He led people to think it was possible to withdraw. Which puts him in the position of either offering a referendum and taking a chance on the result and putting his hands up and saying 'tough' if the result comes back as no or not offering it and looking like a bit of a liar.

FidelineandFumblin · 26/05/2014 00:29

I Can't think how you ever move millions of people without trouble. Where are the precedents? Mass refugee movement in post-war europe? Crikey.

OP posts:
mrsruffallo · 26/05/2014 00:29

why's that then?
its not just white english people who are concerned about europe you know. I don't believe you will get the riots you seem to want. Ukip have already stated that they will never share a platform with fascists so stop scaremongering.
