AIBU?

to ask -what is the problem with UKIP

that Mners seem to have? I have read through their manifesto and it seems all very reasonable to me.
I can't see why opposing 'open door' immigration, and wanting out of Europe , invokes so much hatred on MN?

so there is no evidence apart from an old manifesto. You could read it as providing more support rather than locking up in an asylum. But there is no evidence this is true other than some people talking online.

x2 UKIP haven't said some, though. That is the problem.

Thanks binky I'll read it now

you could read it like that - if the words 'congregate communities' are too big for you to understand.

That portion of the manifesto disappeared in January this year. Tobys. It's obvious that you want to vote for them. Do so. If it helps to salve your conscience to think that we're all a bunch of hysterical liars, fair enough.

Voting Ukip will make the big 3 sit up and listen

Yes - it'll make them listen to a load of backward-thinking, sexist, racist, disablist, xenophobic, homophobic rants. It'll persuade them the British people are willing to pay a lot more tax in exchange for a hate-filled Little Britain that doesn't care for its own. If we show them this is what we want, they'll all strive harder towards that.

I'm no fan of the Greens, but they make a far better protest vote.

I don't think Steady's post was directed at you, MrsdeVere

I am not being sarky.

PP said you could read it that they are planning to offer support in the community. I replied that you may think that, if you ignore or don't understand congregational communities.

As the parent of a child with L.D its a scary prospect so I couldnt give the tiniest of shits if I offended someone who is deliberately trying to be obtuse.

Sorry MrsD, I think we might be talking at cross purposes. My post wasn't aimed at you.

You have got it WRONG - they will listen to the PEOPLE WHO ARE PROTEST VOTING. Or maybe they won't, as they usually don't!

starGazey Why do you think your only possibility for a protest vote is to vote UKIP? There are lots of other options.

Janine - because for years and years people have been voting Green, Raving Loony, etc. etc. and the Big 3 have just laughed and shrugged.

The Big 3 are really worried about UKIP, believe me.

Compulsory abortion of foetuses with Downs or any 'abnormalities' in the womb

He was being serious, as to allow births means they would be a burden on the state and families.

This is a personal manifesto of the candidate, and over two years old, but it's an indication of the mindset of many UKIP candidates.

If you really feel you can't vote for any of the three main ones (not that I'd encourage anyone to vote Conservative anyway), vote Green if you must 'protest'.

where have I said that I intend to vote for them? ???? I previously said that I couldn't see the policies working. I just like to back up my views using evidence!!! Confused Hmm People were referring to this document so I wanted to read it to UNDERSTAND. tbh I have seen enough to get off my arse and actually vote in the european elections against them. It's apathy that allows in those systems minority parties to grow.

The manifesto is an 'interesting' document. Surely it would be more sensible to try and get a mn campaign to publicise the document or a Facebook campaign to provide the link rather than having a go at people who want to back their opinions up with evidence.

One big issue it has I think is that it has some aspects that anyone will agree with. It's quite a clever document from that point of view. I would also love to see their sums but I doubt they have any.

I still haven't seen any evidence of the raping of wives being ok though.

vote Green if you must 'protest'.

You mean like people have done in the past. As I said......the Big 3 just shrugged and laughed.

But if, as you say, StarGazey, more and more people are disaffected with the mainstream parties than ever before, then an increased vote for any of the alternatives would produce the same desired effect ie send a message to the 'Big 3' that they ought to listen to 'ordinary people'.

I suspect that there are a lot of people who agree with UKIP's policies but aren't prepared to say so openly. They pretend they are voting UKIP as a 'protest vote' but in reality they are comfortable with a party who want to turn back the clock to the 1950s - put women, gay people, disabled people, and worst of all immigrants back where they belong.
