to be upset my friend didn't acknowledge my save the date card?

So I hand delivered a few of my save the date cards (as it was only a walk around the small town I live in).

I knocked on my friends door and no-one answered so I posted it instead. 2 weeks later I still haven't heard anything.

We went for a drink with a group of mutual friends so I asked her then if she got it and the only reply I got back yeah - "oh yeah I did thanks"

Aibu to think she could have acknowledged it?

I think it's fairly unanimous that people don't expect to have to respond to a save the date card.

BillyBanter · 06/05/2014 21:45

Is this the most unanimous thread ever?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 06/05/2014 21:47

Two words fir you, BillyB.

SUPERSOAKER.

ThatsAStupidUsername · 06/05/2014 21:59

Clap. I agree with with everyone else on this thread that you don't need to do anything about a STD card.

BillyBanter · 06/05/2014 21:59

I vaguely remember a supersoaker thread. some sort of community or school event and her DS taking a supersoaker?

Ragwort · 06/05/2014 22:03

What is the etiquette if you receive a STD card but don't really want to go to the wedding - can you then send a 'regret' response when you get the official invitation or are you meant to keep the day free even if you don't want to Confused.

Thank god I am at the age when most of the formal occasions I go to are funerals. .

Pipbin · 06/05/2014 22:03

And Penguin Bollards. That was a unanimous thread.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 06/05/2014 22:06

We got a STD fridge magnet from our friends who are getting married next year. It's in a popular holiday time (Easter) and they are only sending them out to daytime guests to give them some notice if they wanted to both attend the wedding and book a holiday around the same time.
We got the STD, but I never called her to say thanks, or remark on what a pretty magnet it is, or anything really. It was just saving the date.
YAB silly, but I can't wait to hear your future bridezilla posts so keep them coming Grin

SirChenjin · 06/05/2014 22:08

When did STD cards appear? Confused When we were all getting married 20-odd years ago we just sent out invitations - it seemed to work.

ShoeWhore · 06/05/2014 22:08

Can I add to the chorus? YABU.

RobotLover68 · 06/05/2014 22:09

I'd hate to get one of those, especially if I didn't want to go...

clam · 06/05/2014 22:11

Ah but have we all forgotten tidydancer, who received a STD card and duly STDed, but never actually received an invitation after all. This wasn't an error, but the bridezilla (who later became Gluezilla) decided she didn't have space to invite her after all. Except she made up for it by asking her to decorate the venue instead, seeing as how she'd Saved The Date and all.
Marvellous thread - went on for weeks.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 06/05/2014 22:11

Wow OP this is very early in the planning to get precious about things, I look forward to more threads wonders if OPs friend read Tidydancers save the date threads Wink

What is the supersoaker thread?

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 06/05/2014 22:12

AWombWithoutARoof · 06/05/2014 22:13

That reminds of that Phoebe line in Friends, "Ohhh, I wish I could, but I don't want to." Grin

Musicaltheatremum · 06/05/2014 22:13

That was a brilliant thread clam
OP STD cards are for info only. Pointless when you can just send an invite.

MmeMorrible · 06/05/2014 22:13

Agree SirChenjin, just had my 20th wedding anniversary last week and the lack of save the date cards back then hasn't really impacted on my life so far.

This another classic example of modern wedding twattery just like 'wedding favours' aka useless wedding tat that no-one wants.

Blu · 06/05/2014 22:13
