Every time a UKIP person speaks, they want to say rape within marriage is ok, Lenny Henry should go back to Black Land, bit too scared to stand in a by election just now...yet

PEOPLE ARE STILL DESPERATE TO VOTE FOR THEM.

What hope is there? Humanity is as truly doomed as ever.

My cousin is severely disabled, but she does know the difference between bare and bear, unlike BigDog.

Mrsjayy · 02/05/2014 12:14

och so he is where did i get nick from Blush

bigdog888 · 02/05/2014 12:16

Yes Oxford my bad!

TillyTellTale · 02/05/2014 12:31

For me it's UKIP all the way in the EU elections - I really hope they gain a good number of seats. I want to be represented in the EU by a strongly anti EU MEP.

Don't vote UKIP then. It is their policy to turn up and automatically vote No to everything to make a point.

If there was a ballot on "Should the EU kick out the UK?" or "should the EU's powers over member states decrease?", UKIP MEPs would be obliged to vote no.

In the past few months Ukip has voted against updated rules on cab design and safety, which would make it easier for the drivers of lorries to spot pedestrians and cyclists. Also against requirements that MEPs who draft legislation should publish which lobbyists they have met and their influence on the legislation. It opposed greater transparency for clinical trials data and greater protections for holidaymakers buying package holidays. Also legislation to tackle money laundering and calls for greater public access to EU documents. Things are moving in the right direction, perhaps. The 2010 manifesto, which Farage has called "drivel", called for taxi drivers to be required to wear uniforms, dress codes for the theatre and for the Circle line on London's underground to be made a circle again.

Bigdog is actually an excellent example of why UKIP are scary. One of their candidates has said he is in favour of forced abortions. Let us not beat about the bush with this one - a UKIP candidate is in favour of strapping a woman to a table, FORCING her to have an abortion whether she wants to or not, or is capable of supporting a disabled child.

Bigdog does not agree with this policy.

But Bigdog is happy to vote for someone who would bring in this policy as law because he is pissed off with the other parties, and believes Daily Mail headlines about immigrants, and more importantly THAT UKIP COULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT (which they can't).

So Bigdog is willing to vote for a party which currently states it has no policies, but whose candidates and supporters have espoused some pretty horrific viewpoints, just because he is pissed off with politicians.

That is incredibly scary.

chicaguapa · 02/05/2014 13:29

Opinions like some of these in support of UKIP make me realise how Hitler got into power and had crowds of people cheering him on and turning a blind eye to the gassing of Jews. WTF is wrong with people? Confused

OxfordBags · 02/05/2014 13:34

It's a shame babies can't be tested to see if they're going to grow up to be ignorant, kneejerk, thick as pigshit fucknuts. Not to be aborted, just so you can really keep an eye on that pathetic-yet-dangerous tendency.

worldgonecrazy, don't forget that the disabled foetus could be the result of rape, as UKIP want to repeal the law about rape within marriage/relationships. In their brave new world, you can be raped as often or horribly as someone decides, so long as they have some sort of previous romantic atachment to you, and then have the results of that abuse forcibly removed from your body against your will. Nice.

Also, for a party that has voted against equal working rights for women in the European parliament, you'd think they'd want women to have lots of kids to occupy them, instead of working for pay, which is clearly just for men.

OxfordBags · 02/05/2014 13:41

chica, it's exactly how people like Hitler got into power. Actually, how the Tories got into power works the same way - appeal to the basest, meanest aspects of the gullible, ignorant, troubled and thick, and make it acceptable or even good to hate and denigrate the easiest targets within that society, amplify the scapegoating and blaming, manipulate the media to pump out a form of hate rhetoric that feels inclusive in its 'them or us' rousing language, make it feel unsafe to stand up to their nonsense (which can take the form of making opponents appear churlish or silly, etc.), give permission and encouragement for nornally decent people to demean themselves by becoming spiteful and bigoted, use a charismatic leader and/or other prominent figures, and so on and so forth, then stir, sit back and wait for hatred, ignorance and intolerance to flourish.

RufusTheReindeer · 02/05/2014 13:52

oxford

That sounds like how most political parties get into power

Ridersofthestorm · 02/05/2014 13:59

Its seriously scary that people could/would/will vote for such a party. They are playing on the whole Europe debate to get ordinary people to listen to them, and sadly people are falling for it.
What they really are, are a bunch of racist, phobic anything other than male, straight, white middle class, privately educated, self serving idiots.
This country needs to be careful about voting for loons like this. Why do you think countries like Germany take their voting system so seriously? So nothing like the nazis can ever get in power again. Hopefully the majority of the people in this country can see through the ukip bullshit and see them for what they for what they really are.

AlpacaYourThings · 02/05/2014 14:08

OxfordBags, would you consider standing as an independent candidate in your local area?

KnittedJimmyChoos · 02/05/2014 14:09

In their brave new world, you can be raped as often or horribly as someone decides, so long as they have some sort of previous romantic atachment to you

Is this a brave new world or what goes on in many cultures already? A woman is raped and its her who brings dis honour on the family.....

Not brave new world at all...

manipulate the media to pump out a form of hate rhetoric that feels inclusive in its 'them or us' rousing language, make it feel unsafe to stand up to their nonsense

I am no UKIP supporter but its them thats treated like this by the media and everywhere....If your a UKIP supporter you are racist....

I suppose Hitler got to power because he listened to people, and what they wanted....they felt he gave them a voice....

Perhaps the main parties will start to listen now?

bigdog888 · 02/05/2014 14:15

Bigdog does not agree with this policy

Of course I don't - however that is the personal opinion of one member. I suspect you'll find members of all the main parties with unpleasant personal views or at least views with which you vehemently disagree. I personally don't agree 100% with the policies of any party and I guess most people are the same. The particular policies of UKIP with which I disagree seem to be pretty irrelevant in the context of the EU parliament and as they really stand no chance of getting into power in the UK I can live with them. Other UKIP voters I have spoken to reflect these opinions and will be voting for them in the EU elections but not the UK ones like myself.

worldgonecrazy · 02/05/2014 14:24

knittedjimmychoos marital rape may be acceptable in some cultures but it is currently illegal under British law, so women can press charges. Treating those from a different culture as "other" is less likely to encourage these women to come forward to make a complaint against their family/husband.

UKIP candidates and supporters have expressed a view that, if in power, they would make marital rape legal so not only would women from other culture be legally subjected to rape, white British women would too. Don't you find that rather repulsive?

Nousernameforme · 02/05/2014 14:25

I read something ukip, said about gay marriage that civil partnership was fine but they couldn't have marriage they are equal but different wasn't that the same line those in the Deep South used to justify segregation. If you want a protest vote vote green. Those that are saying ukips my protest vote are using this political situation to air their bigoted views in a PA way

KnittedJimmyChoos · 02/05/2014 15:21

Don't you find that rather repulsive?

I find most extremism repulsive, too far right and certainly too far left.

Hitler is always held up in these debates, as should be, however stalin, and his socialsm killed how many, about 20million? With deportations...gulags, and the rest.

I was told Hitler only gets more air time that Stalin, because Hollywood PREFERs to make films about Hitler.

I don't trust anyone with extreme views and who is not able to have a balanced argument.

OxfordBags · 02/05/2014 16:10

Knitted - did you lose your ability to understand sarcastic irony at the same time as your ability to use spelling and punctuation correctly?

caruthers · 02/05/2014 16:19

OxfordBags have a Biscuit for rudeness.

OxfordBags · 02/05/2014 16:23

Is it still rude if it's correct?

As a disabled person, please shove your UKIP-defending biscuit up your a... No, better not be rude, that's far worse than tacitly supporting eugenics and bigotry.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 02/05/2014 16:37

"Don't you find that rather repulsive? "

"I find most extremism repulsive, too far right and certainly too far left."

Ooh, nice question dodge. And moving on into complete change of subject. Smooth! Got to admire your style.

DioneTheDiabolist · 02/05/2014 18:59

Knitted Hitler gets more airtime (as you put it) because he was the enemy and Stalin was an ally during WWII.

TucsonGirl · 02/05/2014 19:31

I will vote UKIP as I want to free of the EU and they are the only party that I believe will do this, I don't trust the Tories one iota with their promise of an agenda, it will either not be a definite in/out choice with no half-arsed "devolved powers" option, or they will launch the mother of all propaganda campaigns, (likely backed by Labour and LibDems) in order to try and frighten people into voting to stay in. I just want us out, a clean break with no ties. From there we can negotiate bilateral agreements with the countries we want to do business with.

OxfordBags · 02/05/2014 19:41

It must really upset you, then, Tucson, that they're not going to win. There's just not enough ignorant, bigoted thickos in this country. Obviously, there's a lot, but not that many.

HauntedNoddyCar · 02/05/2014 19:47

Dione I agree but would also add that most films 'about Hitler' are actually about the US Army. I'm struggling to think of any Hollywood Hitler films other than the Tom Cruise thing.

lionheart · 02/05/2014 20:10

Fucknuts is a satisfying word, I think.

ButI have to agree there is a big conversation to be had about why people vote for UKIP.
