To think that this is a strange combination for siblings' names?

And yes, I know it's none of my business blah blah blah. And for the record I do think that they are both lovely names, however...

A friend of a friend has a DD called Ava, and has just had a baby girl and called her Eva?

AIBU to think that that's practically like calling them both the same name? Plus it just sounds really twee.

I knew of a Megan.
Nice name but her surname is Bacon

PicardyThird · 10/04/2014 08:57

My boys went to kindergarten with a brother and sister called Henry and Henriette.

Our former neighbours had Luca (boy), Linus and Lena.

DaleyBum · 10/04/2014 09:32

Oh and I know a litter boy called Montague Burns. Monty Burns.

JonathanGirl · 10/04/2014 09:53

I knew boy-girl twins called Christian and Christine. They were Christy and Chrissy for short.

My friend's son, dad, brother, partner and stepson all have the same name - Michael - and she is called Michelle Grin.

honeybeeridiculous · 10/04/2014 09:54

I once had a boss called richard head
and a work colleague has a partner called Michael Hunt
and I know twins called coco channel and armani Hmm
poor buggers

ToffeeMoon · 10/04/2014 09:58

I know sisters asked Helen and Elaine.

Elaine is an old French form of Helen.

Always strikes me as a bit odd.

ToffeeMoon · 10/04/2014 09:59

*called, not asked.

almapudden · 10/04/2014 09:59

Oh I went to school with a Jenna Taylor. She's changed her name now.

HicDraconis · 10/04/2014 10:04

Boy and girl twins - Jamie and Jaime. Why?

TheLadyRadishes · 10/04/2014 10:09

Kate and Sidney Pie!

Megan Bacon!!!

I've been feeling a bit ill, this thread has cheered me right up!

curiousgeorgie · 10/04/2014 10:11

I know a Charlie and Lola... Grin

MyBootsAreMuddy · 10/04/2014 10:15

I know someone who gave their ds a name that was the same as first part of surname.... because they thought it was funnyHmm.
It is along the lines of: Peter Peterson, David Davids or Luke Luketon!!

Also know sibling Thomas, Richard and Harriet (in that order) which always raises a chuckle from people (parents seem oblivious though!)

MidniteScribbler · 10/04/2014 10:21

And (pretty sure this is a fable), heard of Drew Peacock.

Nope, that one is actually true.

HoldOnHoldOnSoldier · 10/04/2014 10:30

I have a friend who's daughters are Charlie and Lola Grin

Inkspellme · 10/04/2014 10:36

knew brother dean and ian. apparently the mum didn't notice how alike they were until youngest was two....

HicDraconis · 10/04/2014 10:40

MyBoots - to my eternal shame I wanted to do that with DS2. Our past name is also a male first name, I wanted to give DS2 the same name as his first name. Luckily for both of us, DH vetoed it :)

HicDraconis · 10/04/2014 10:41

Last name. Not past!

Inkspellme · 10/04/2014 10:46

also knew two adults called Dermot McDermot and the other was Brian O'Brien.

frizzcat · 10/04/2014 10:50

I also went to school with Michelle and her brother was Michael.
We have a family within our family, where there were 11 children - they have a daughter named Frances and a son named Francis....
I have also come across a little girl named Scarlett Charlotte Confused

SarahAndFuck · 10/04/2014 10:52

In the class above DS at school there are two boys with the same names, just reversed.

Think Jacob Harrison and Harrison Jacobs.

That can get confusing, especially when sometimes the school lists names as and at other times as .

bellsandbutterflies · 10/04/2014 10:59

I have a Jack and a Daniel, with another boy in the middle. I totally missed the Jack Daniels thing because we don't drink it. Our Daniel usually goes by Dan and we refer to them as Jack, xxxx & Dan. No one else has ever commented (perhaps they're all laughing behind my back Grin).

TessOfTheBaublevilles · 10/04/2014 11:09

I had a school friend called Charlotte, who had a sister called Caroline and a brother named Charlie, all of course forms of Charles. I'll leave you to guess what the dad was called!! Wink

There are two "stand out" sets of twins at DS1 and DS2's school....

Jayde (girl) and Jayden (boy)

Tayler* (girl) and Tyler (boy)

  • Yes spelt like this, as opposed to the usual Taylor.
WrongendoftheSTIX · 10/04/2014 11:09

Maybe those parent naming DC very similarly suffer from sane issue I have.

I keep liking names containing key elements of Dd2's name e.g
If Dd1 is Joanna, I'd like: Josephine, Annabel, Roseanna, Susannah, Joli, Joseph etc

I didn't notice that I was naturally drawn to names with repeated elements of my Dd's name in them until my DH pointed it out Grin must love her name!

x2boys · 10/04/2014 11:09
