To think that this is a strange combination for siblings' names?

And yes, I know it's none of my business blah blah blah. And for the record I do think that they are both lovely names, however...

A friend of a friend has a DD called Ava, and has just had a baby girl and called her Eva?

AIBU to think that that's practically like calling them both the same name? Plus it just sounds really twee.

What about the 19 kids and counting family? Jeremiah, Josiah etc.

I also know twins called Poppy and Lilly. They have a big sister called Dairy.

DaleyBum · 09/04/2014 23:19

*Daisy!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 09/04/2014 23:36

I have siblings called Sharon and Darren in my family, wonder if it's the same ones mentioned here

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 09/04/2014 23:40

My ex's cousin is Polly Esther Hmm yes really.

I know a Steven and a Stephanie. brother and sister. lack of imagination right there.

I also know a paula who married a paul. was gutted they didn't name their kid Pauline.

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 09/04/2014 23:41

NoArmaniNoPunani · 09/04/2014 23:42

I also know siblings called Jack and Danni which always makes me snigger

Pipbin · 09/04/2014 23:51

Timogen? Thats not a name.

I knew a Kai and Kyle. That must have got confusing.

Pipbin · 09/04/2014 23:52

And I don't get Jack and Danni. What is the thing there?

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 09/04/2014 23:53

I know someone whos name is Ben and who's half brother was also called Ben. Needless to say his dad and stepmum are arseholes Hmm

foreverondiet · 09/04/2014 23:53

My friend Victoria married someone called Victor. Both called Vic for short.

My DH's sisters have names with the same vowels and my MIL said in hindsight not a good idea as when calling one name it sounds like the other.

ie Along the lines of Gina and Zila.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 09/04/2014 23:55

Jack Daniels?

Galaxymum · 10/04/2014 00:16

My dad's two youngest brothers were named Neil and Noel. The older ones all had quite different names - like my Nana just ran out when she got to 6 and 7!

I was at uni with a boy and girl who went out then later married - Francis and Frances who were known as Fran and Fran.

Galaxymum · 10/04/2014 00:20

Oh and remembering sisters Melanie and Melinda when I was younger. (Shortened to Mel!)

SarahAndFuck · 10/04/2014 00:30

I know two brothers named Dean and Martin.

I also know someone who has an Ella and a Sam. And that's the only way they ever say it, they were not happy when someone pointed out the obvious. I'm amazed it's such a popular combination.

consideringadoption84 · 10/04/2014 01:42

At least all these pairs/sets will only be associated so closely with other for 18 years or so of their lives.

I think some of them are pretty cool though! I don't understand using variations of the exact same name but I like some of the 'themes'.

I haven't got many to add.

I knew a set of little girls when I was a child who were called Kristie, Keltie, Keisha and Kiki but they aren't that similar really I guess.

And I had a friend called Poppy whose sisters were Fleur, Daisy and Rose.

Twins called Jackson and Jefferson

JessieMcJessie · 10/04/2014 01:56

Timogen? Surely not.

DaleyBum · 10/04/2014 01:57

I know two brothers called Craig and David.

I don't get Sophia and Lauren?

consideringadoption84 · 10/04/2014 02:11

^^

Sophia Loren is a famous Italian actress. But no, I agree, I think it's fine. I doubt most children know who she is now anyway.

OwlinaTree · 10/04/2014 02:12

Aren't Jamie Oliver's children all named after flowers?

basicdetails · 10/04/2014 02:38

I know a Sam and Ella.

I also taught identical twin boys with the same first name, Amir.

MidniteScribbler · 10/04/2014 02:42

I know twins called Jack and Dianne. I've also had Holden and Ford (younger sister Mercedes).

I can believe Timogen. I know of a Fredetta (daughter of Fred and Loretta).

Jenny70 · 10/04/2014 03:41

Friend taught boy and girl twins called Derek and Dereka, I mean it's not a great name to start with, let alone both together!

pettybetty · 10/04/2014 04:08

I know a brother and sister called Ellis and Alice! Bonkers

PeaceLillyDoge · 10/04/2014 04:31

I know of an Adam and Niamh.. think about it...

Mum swears it took her years to realise the connection and happily admits it sounds a bit daft, but they're lovelynames.

Polonius · 10/04/2014 04:32

I know a gay married couple who are Michael and Michael.
