To think that this is a strange combination for siblings' names?

And yes, I know it's none of my business blah blah blah. And for the record I do think that they are both lovely names, however...

A friend of a friend has a DD called Ava, and has just had a baby girl and called her Eva?

AIBU to think that that's practically like calling them both the same name? Plus it just sounds really twee.

I believe Timogen too. People are mental.

DH knew a couple called Winifred and Winston

OB1Kenobi · 10/04/2014 06:36

I knew twins called Don and Donna

NoArmaniNoPunani · 10/04/2014 07:02

And I don't get Jack and Danni. What is the thing there?

Slang for a fanny.

barmybunting · 10/04/2014 07:30

I went to school with identical twins called Rachael and Rochelle. Why??

Gemdar · 10/04/2014 07:35

Neighbours kids were Robert and Richard which are fine unless you know your Cockney rhyming slang...

Other neighbours through marriage are Janet and John.

PurpleKittyKnitting · 10/04/2014 07:38

I knew a woman called Philomena but she asked everyone to call her Phil, her brother was Phillip, shortend to Phil.

One of my friends years ago told me about a family that came in to her place of work with 4 girls, Gina, Nina, Tina and Leena (not sure of the spelling of that last one!)

JohnBarleycorn · 10/04/2014 07:41

Not siblings but I once visited a school which in one class had Aiden, Aiden, Jayden, Jayden and Kayden. And next door was Laydon. Kept me amused for days, that did.

NobodyLivesHere · 10/04/2014 07:42

I know siblings who are Eve and ava that's weird enough!

Jinty64 · 10/04/2014 07:43

I'm clearly missing something. What's wrong with Craig and David.

NotTodayJosephine · 10/04/2014 07:48

YoureAllABunchOfBastards. Paul, Pauline and Paula ??? Did you grow up in F by any chance????

NotTodayJosephine · 10/04/2014 07:52

I've quoted this one before but I was friends with a couple called Robert and Roberta who called their son Robert. Both the son and the Mum were known as Bobby and the Dad as Bob. It was in the states though so it didn't seem quite as bad.

goldenlula · 10/04/2014 07:55

Having read this thread, I have decided I was very mean about a lady I met in a toilet once her when ds2 was a baby. On hearing me speak to him she commented what a lovely name Oliver was and all I needed now was an Olive to go with it. I thought it was a bonkers idea and said later to friends who in their right mind would do that to their children. It would seem quite a few people.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 10/04/2014 07:56

The Paul, Paula, Pauline were in NA.

MichelloBarner · 10/04/2014 08:00

OP that is bonkers. Especially as in come languages/cultures Eva would be pronounced Ava anyway. I would have to have a little judgefest and declare the parents to be a bit dim.

I also hate it when you get those families with about 29 kids and all the names begin with the same letter. K and J would appear to be the most common offenders.

Jinty64 · 10/04/2014 08:06

I know a Donald Donaldson, a David Davidson and at least two Donald MacDonald's which I don't think show much imagination but are fairly common in the Scottish Highlands and Islands there was, of course, Magnus Magnusson.

There are also two brothers called Mohamed in ds's school. One gets called Mo. I presume this is cultural.

Eastpoint · 10/04/2014 08:13

I know an Ella & Sam too, they must just be very popular names amongst a certain age group.

MummyBeerest · 10/04/2014 08:19

The mother of a friend of mine was one of 12 children, and you could really tell towards the youngest three, the mum to 12 was just over it...

Honey & Bunny (twins)
Hughina Bernadina

...no lie.

I also knew a couple called Fiore and Fiorella.

Aren't names fun?

Seminyak · 10/04/2014 08:23

I know a man called Richard Head.

And (pretty sure this is a fable), heard of Drew Peacock.

herethereandeverywhere · 10/04/2014 08:24

I'm another one who knows a Sam 'n' Ella sibling combo. Like all of these examples, I just think, of all the names in the world.....

Felyne · 10/04/2014 08:31

My Mum taught twins called Benson and Hedges.

Cheerymum · 10/04/2014 08:38

Is it something about twins that makes people extra bonkers?
COI I have identical twins and am arguably bonkers, not sure whether being bonkers or having twins came first, but managed to avoid matchey matchey names. Instead I indulge in angst about how to balance celebrating their twinness against helping them foster their individuality, and managing relationships with their non-twin sibling ... Probably rather a first world problem now I read that back!

Beehatch · 10/04/2014 08:39

I knew a Paul and Paula too
And twins called Nadine and Nadia
And another set called Ruby and Pearl, with older sister Sapphire

commsgirl · 10/04/2014 08:44

I know a Sherie, Sheriden and Eden.
