to vote UKIP?

runnerBeanee · 03/04/2014 09:02

Over time I have warmed to UKIP. I see the other parties as self serving bullshitters. Recently I looked at schools for dd, every local school is bursting at the seams, bulge years etc and it's likely I won't get a school of choice. I've been told be teachers and other parents that a high percentage of the children at said schools do not speak English, so rather than teaching maths, the teachers spend more time just trying to teach English to non English speakers.

I live in an average area, I've been told be friends in other areas that it's the same there. There's not enough housing, schools and NHS resources to cope with the levels of immigration. So which stupid power hungry politicians decided it was a good idea to allow all this immigration when there wasn't the infrastructure to cope with it or the funds to pay for more schools etc?

I'm not from a 'British' family myself and have plenty of non British friends, it's not about racism, it's common sense, you can't have an uncontrolled surge in population and expect public services to cope unless you're happy to pay for it. Though I'm sure the govt arehappy that this has caused wages to be driven down...

Aibu?

julia the truth is i have no idea if they have an education policy - but what is absolutely clear is labour, who are meant to be the main contendor and who millions of people support, has absolutely no policy on education either even though we are only 15/18 months away from a general election. so if UKIP dont have a policy they are no worse than the main contendor for the next govt and i wouldnt think anything less of them.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/04/2014 10:14

The nearest I can find to policies on the UKIP site:
www.ukip.org/issues

diaimchlo · 03/04/2014 10:15

Very short

romsey-ukip.org/ukip-education-policy

juliacharles2013 · 03/04/2014 10:16

Well you're perfectly within your rights to vote for them, Peggy.

Personally, I wouldn't vote UKIP if they gave me the secret to eternal life, paid me & offered to make Michael Fassbender my personal sex slave for the next 20 years, but that is also my right. ??

Personally, I'm seriously considering home schooling my son but then, that is a personal choice I will take with my husband when we reach that point.

No politicians have a magic wand that they can wave to fix everything, but I'm sticking to the same principle my dear departed Grandpa always used "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't" I'd far rather vote labour with no policies than see a bunch of misogonistic loonies get in

Yeah, you vote for people who want to lock my kids up

I missed that one. Why do UKIP want to lock your kids up Dawn?

SirChenjin · 03/04/2014 10:44

Unfortunately parties like UKIP thrive as a result of other parties shying away from dealing with the issues that people care about. The main parties have only got themselves to blame imo which is why we've got the SNP up here

mrsjay · 03/04/2014 10:44

they wanted to put people with learning disabilities and physical in villages and communes also they wanted to end inclusive education, they have changed that policy a little sort of re worded it,

Really mrsjay I didn't think I could be more repulsed by UKIP but you've just done it with that statement.

Offering me Michael Fassbender, David Tennant & Hugh Jackman couldn't get me to vote for them

BuzzardBird · 03/04/2014 10:49

I'm sorry, I don't believe a word of the OP. If this really is an issue why not post in Primary Education thread and see how many teachers back up that ludicrous line about not having time to teach Maths?

mrsjay · 03/04/2014 10:49

Oh and they want to get rid of independent living so locking disabled people away as people will not be able to live on their own with carers support and have to either live with parents OR be put in institutions again

mrsjay · 03/04/2014 10:50

Really mrsjay I didn't think I could be more repulsed by UKIP but you've just done it with that statement.

yeah really although they now have a disabled minister in their party so thats ok then Hmm

fideline · 03/04/2014 10:50

Oh right, so the fact a teacher told me she can't teach maths as she has to teach her class English instead is not an issue?

It is a massive issue runner. I have heard similar from many teachers and understand your concern. As far as I can see a big injection of funding for EAL provision in Years R and 1 is needed.

Voting UKIP as some kind of protest vote against the above is like playing with xenophobic dynamite though.

fideline · 03/04/2014 10:52

they wanted to put people with learning disabilities and physical in villages and communes also they wanted to end inclusive education

Nice Hmm. How on earth did Cleggy make such a monumental pig's ear of it last night? Sad

juliacharles2013 · 03/04/2014 10:55

I know. It makes you wonder just how hated is That cretin Cleggy that he lost to an even bigger tosser like Farage!?! It beggars belief

Dawndonnaagain · 03/04/2014 10:57

UKIP abandoned policies For now!

mrsjay · 03/04/2014 11:05

so they say dawn so they say that just means they have hidden their views thats all ,

Wantsunshine · 03/04/2014 11:06

I am unsure on UKIP. I would never vote labour or lib dem as I don't agree with their policies. UKIP could be a good vote as none of the main parties will make many changes and it could be the shake up that all in government need.

IwinIwin · 03/04/2014 11:12

Yanbu to vote for who you want.

Yabu to think it will make any difference. Ukip will be just like main three: liars, thieves and pains in our stars.Same shit, ddifferent face on it.

I wish we could have a 'cross here.if you think all are fucking useless box, bet there would be a bigger voter turnout. I have no clue who to vote for but I don't want to help any of tthose four by not voting against them, but there's no one good against them.

IwinIwin · 03/04/2014 11:13

Pains in arses, not stars!

juliacharles2013 · 03/04/2014 11:13

So @Wantsunshine, you'd rather vote for a party that thinks any person with disabilities should be locked up in institutions & kept out of the public eye a seriously more viable option!?! I hope to god you never have to deal directly with a friend or family member who has a disability should UKIP ever get in...
