About Ds Teacher wanting to call him something else ?

So Ds 5 has come home from school a little bit upset & after asking bribing him to tell me what's wrong I'm unsure how to deal/react to it .

Right so for the sake of keeping my anonimity (sp) I have changed the names .

So Ds is called Tom & has a class mate called Thomas from what I can gather Thomas' mum has told their Teacher that Thomas must now be called Tom so the Teacher has told Ds that he must be called Thomas so everybody doesn't get confused Hmm

Ds said 'but that's not my name' but apparently that's how it has to be Hmm because everybody can't be confused by two children with the same name , even though Tom is what's on my Ds birth certificate not Thomas

So if I haven't lost/confused you all what should I do about this ?

I will be seeing the Teacher Monday so I will say something I'm just unsure of what to say

His teacher should count herself lucky; 20% of my class at secondary school was called Sarah. Somehow, the teaching staff coped Wink

"the teacher is a twat"

Hope to Tak that people that are posting this never have any serious school issues to deal with.

Well, isn't that teacher a wankbadger?

So, is Alexander's mum. If she wanted her son to be the only child in the class with a name why didn't she name him something no one else would choose?

Confused

Alexander is quite a popular name. Did she not realise?

She needs to get down the Deed Poll office and have a rethink.

Hmm

"Well, isn't that teacher a wankbadger?"

If the teacher was still insistent that the OP's son was to be called by the wrong name then yes she would be.

But the op has only spoken to the teacher about this once and the teacher is now calling the child by his proper name.

I am not saying that what the teacher and mother of the other child did was right but after one conversation the issue has been resolved.

and posters are still calling the teacher names.

Yep, I was in school with a Xander in 1970's Scotland, so the contraction definitely predates Mr Armstrong and Buffy. (Love the name, StoorieHoose Grin!)

HercShipwright · 02/04/2014 20:21

Let's see. The teacher behaved appallingly, and was rude, culturally insensitive and also insensitive to OP's DS's SN. I think she deserves to be called names. If I was a teacher I'd be ashamed to have the same job title as her.

Yes, because she acted totally unprofessionally!

And Op doesn't seem to have had a proper apology yet.

Confused

Unless she hops into a time machine that isn't going to change.

So, yes. I'm calling her names.

When the OP pops back and says she's had a genuine apology, and more importantly her beautifully named DS has had a genuine apology I shall be refering to the teacher as a wankbadger.

The shoe fits..!

I never knew any Xanders in Scotland in the 70s or 80s. I feel cheated.

PinkLemons · 02/04/2014 20:47

In my DD's class of 22 children their are 3 girls with the same name! All spelled differently but pronounced the same. It's an international school and none of these girls have easy to pronounce surnames. They are just known as Laura L, Lora B and Loura S (not real name!) they are fine with it.

Although since there are 7 classes per year why they put them all in the same class I'll never understand Hmm

StoorieHoose · 02/04/2014 21:04

billybanter I admit I knew more Alex's and Eckys than Xanders but nearer the end of high school there were a few Xanders

whereyouleftit my nn is a true reflection after weeks and weeks of germs and illness :)

CrazyHhas5kitties · 03/04/2014 21:17

Sorry my internet is still playing up Angry

Still had no apology though tbh I don't really think I'll get one unless I ask , which I won't Smile

Crazy how have things been? I noticed they are two of two sets of names In ds's class. I noticed when I had a sens meeting for him the other day and had to pick him up. Both (names changed obviously) he called Sarah smith and the other Sarah Johnson. As we was coming back He did the same with two other kids too. Max Smith and Max Johnson. If a 5yo can manage. A teacher should be able to manage it too. I have one of the mosf common names ever. However did I and the teacher and the 3 other pixies in the class ever manage?! Grin
