...to feel strongly that women should not wash their private parts with soap, nor use feminine freshness wipes?

And the reason this is bothering me now is because I have had an argument with my (otherwise lovely) "waxing technician" because every time I go for a brazilian she insists on wiping me, inside my vagina after every spread of wax, with these packeted wipes.

How is it that we are in 2014 and the medical profession has not done a good enough job to make women aware that using products which remove the oils/mucous from places like the urethra/vagina/anus, causes problems with bacterial infection?

oddest discussion ever had

VoyageDeVerity · 21/03/2014 19:28

My waxing lady gives a wipe with a plain wipe to get rid of any excess wax it's REALLY no big deal would you rather have dropped wax there!

It's really not going to kill your fanny to wash it gently with mild soap. In fact I think it's pretty disgusting how many women on here don't. How I mean how could you let someone go down on you without being clean is beyond me.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 21/03/2014 19:30

I'm quite sure the area needs to be, ahem, clear to wax it, to make sure the wax sticks properly. So if you have hair there, that you want removed, it needs to be wiped first.

But yes, you are right, soap etc is bad for your 'natural flora' and not recommended. But then neither is waxing, really

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/03/2014 19:31

op

No.it.doesnt.

Because it is not inside your vagina. It is your vulva.

I don't recommend soaping yourself internally but externally a bit of soap is fine.

Also, you're having hot wax applied to your bits...what do you think that does to the area?!

I ask that question as someone who quite merrily has it all off more often than not.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 21/03/2014 19:31

Needs = should say may need

Goblinchild · 21/03/2014 19:31

Oh I wash thoroughly, with non-soap cleanser, but I'm old-fashioned. Grin
OH washes as well, do you have any advice for him, OP?

WaitMonkey · 21/03/2014 19:31

I'm Shock at the entire thread.

Binkyridesagain · 21/03/2014 19:33

So it happened within seconds, you asked her to stop, which she did. Why does this have a bearing on what other women are doing to their own genitals?

Not using soap does not a stinky fanjo make.

TalkieToaster · 21/03/2014 19:33

Oh dear lord... SHE IS NOT WIPING INSIDE YOUR VAGINA.

You don't get to 'consider' your vulva as 'part of your vagina'. I understand that a lot of women are sadly not educated about the differences, but you were just shown a diagram and had it explained to you. These are different parts of your body, with proper, anatomical names.

That would be like me poking someone in the eye and when they go, 'Oi! Don't poke me in the eye!', I could respond that actually I poked their eyebrow, so it doesn't count.

Needlesswidow · 21/03/2014 19:33

People - I am really not trying to start a debate on whether to wax your noonani or not. Go to relationships for that!

What I am saying is that I wash myself with water ONLY. It messes up the flora down there if you don't, and I don't like that this is just 'what she does' (ie, wipes the labia with one of these chemical wipes) when she waxes people.

OP posts:
TittyMcFartyFlaps · 21/03/2014 19:35

Maybe your vagina is whiffy cos you only use water and that's why she's wiping it.

Needlesswidow · 21/03/2014 19:35

TalkieToaster

She wipes my labia and my urethra, BOTH which have mucous membranes

OP posts:
Alisvolatpropiis · 21/03/2014 19:35

Fine fine fine...but it is not your vagina. It is your vulva.

Vagina = internal
Vulva = external

TheGreatHunt · 21/03/2014 19:35

How else will she make the wax stick ffs?

Needlesswidow · 21/03/2014 19:36

TittyMcFartFlaps

Haha. My vagina is not whiffy!

OP posts:
WeAreDetective · 21/03/2014 19:36

Well... If you don't like it then don't go back. Simple.

I, however, will continue to use soap.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 21/03/2014 19:36

Ahh, so you ae ignoring my sensible answer then? Figures.

You mean coz it's unnatural?
I like the natural approach myself.
Go to S&B, they will understand your trauma and probably be the sort of readers who need to know about fanny wipes and the danger they pose.
How widely used do you think they are, and amongst what sort of women?

SauvignonBlanche · 21/03/2014 19:38

It just seems strange that someone who has their pubic hair ripped out, wants to tell other women how they should look after their bodies

Got to agree with that.

JohnnyBarthes · 21/03/2014 19:38

You wash your genitals with water only, on account of their delicate nature, yet pay to get your pubic hair removed?

Has anyone linked to this yet?

GingerRodgers · 21/03/2014 19:39

She is wiping you to clean off the natural oils so the wax sticks or to wipe off excess wax.

If there is hair there it is not internal and so the wipes will have no effect on your internal bacteria.

The lips, clit and anus need to be washed thoroughly and possibly with soap to get rid of bacteria and cell build up (smegma).

As long as you don't clean actually inside it's fine WHICH SHE DIDNT.

Needlesswidow · 21/03/2014 19:39

BeyondthelimitsofAcceptibility I love your answer! Thank you very much!

Lips, clit and anus should not be washed with soap!

Goblinchild · 21/03/2014 19:41

Thanks Talkie. I did have a vision of the OP spread-legged and the technician fisting her with a wipe. Several times.
Odd places, beauty salons. Especially those with big windows.
