...to feel strongly that women should not wash their private parts with soap, nor use feminine freshness wipes?

And the reason this is bothering me now is because I have had an argument with my (otherwise lovely) "waxing technician" because every time I go for a brazilian she insists on wiping me, inside my vagina after every spread of wax, with these packeted wipes.

How is it that we are in 2014 and the medical profession has not done a good enough job to make women aware that using products which remove the oils/mucous from places like the urethra/vagina/anus, causes problems with bacterial infection?

I'm gobsmacked.

This thread is truly amazing.

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/03/2014 20:02

Yes op that's true.

BUT LABIA ARE NOT INSIDE THE VAGINA

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 21/03/2014 20:02

Perfumed soap OP. You do need to wash your arse, water is not going to go very far in cleaning there!

FabBakerGirl · 21/03/2014 20:02

This all is very strange.

scottishmummy · 21/03/2014 20:03

I won't be lectured to by someone who had a Brazilian
Or gets inappropriately touched up by the beauty therapist
If I were you I'd worry why she intimately touches you...

Needlesswidow · 21/03/2014 20:03

SchroSawMargeryDaw

There are internet health articles which say you should wash your arse with water only. It is not my preference, but I read it in several places.

RaRaTheNoisyLion · 21/03/2014 20:03

'I certainly agree that you shouldn't wash your fanjo with Original Source Tea tree and Mint shower gel.'

Why?

I do exactly that.

Needlesswidow · 21/03/2014 20:04

FabBakerGirl Why is it strange? I am enjoying being educated on this - I didn't know. Apologies.

Of course you don't wash just inside the urethra. Are you mad.

But you wash with a flat hand the whole area with soap. Just don't stick your fingers inside anything be it your arse, vagina or urethra (wouldn't get a finger up there anyway).

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2014 20:06

Well I've got to the ripe old age of 44 using Dove on my bits and pieces

Nothing's dropped off yet so it's all good Grin

Thetallesttower · 21/03/2014 20:06

Yes, but normally you don't wash round there with soap, so what's the problem, this was a one off, possibly because the wax adheres better before or drips on and needs cleaning off afterwards YABU to be so neurotic about one wipe going near your bits that you now imagine you have thrush and stopped having your bits waxed.

You remind me of people who hear the sun causes skin cancer message and don't ever expose any of their body to the sun except with sun cream- it's too extreme and can cause other problems. If you over-exaggerate the message, and get completely neurotic, it gets distorted.

Plus the fact that many of us use soap say to wash our botties and haven't ever got an infection means you must be a bit wrong really.

BMW6 · 21/03/2014 20:06

You have bizarre double standards OP......Hmm

Needlesswidow · 21/03/2014 20:06

TheGreatHunt I didn't say "inside" the urethra. I said the urethra. Which anyone would touch if they used a wipe to wipe down from the top of the vulva to the bottom.

CoteDAzur · 21/03/2014 20:06

Who would be mad enough to wash inside their rectum? Shock

And how would you even do that? Stick a hose up your ass?

OP - I don't understand how you can be so ignorant about your body. And still you think you can tell women what to do with their private bits, the names of which your don't even know!

CuttedUpPear · 21/03/2014 20:06

Do you not think it's a bit rich preaching to us about keeping our fanjos natural when you pay someone to RIP ALL OF YOUR HAIRS OUT WITH HOT WAX?

Needlesswidow · 21/03/2014 20:07

Thetallesttower thank you for giving me the sanest reply. I'll take your word for it.

SOOTIKINS alert

CoteDAzur · 21/03/2014 20:08

"There are internet health articles which say you should wash your arse with water only"

Oh ok then. Why didn't you say so before? Hmm

BornToFolk · 21/03/2014 20:08

Well no, I can't imagine that anyone would advise washing inside your rectum with soap. Hmm

bialystockandbloom · 21/03/2014 20:09

Am aghast at this thought Shock Slight side-track but those of you who have full waxes (ie everything off), do you have to take your knickers off??

I only have the kind which takes off the bit at the side (bikini line) and from underneath, only anything from the outside of labia, iyswim. And keep knickers on, just pull to the side.

And if it's at all helpful, I don't wash the inside with soap either, just the outside bits. Using soap inside can give me BV

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 21/03/2014 20:09

See, actually your bit about the outside of the urethra isn't correct. I am a catheter user and guess what they send me everymonth with my catheters to use before?

Medical wipes.

And if you're talking about not washing inside of your arse with soap, that's fine. If your talking about outside then that is a load of crap (literally).

TheGreatHunt · 21/03/2014 20:09

As long as you don't get it all inside it should be fine.

If you get thrush a lot, take a look at your diet and boil your knickers.

MissMooMoo · 21/03/2014 20:09

OP I have read through the thread completely and tbh I am not surprised your waxing technician is wiping you with wipes, are you honestly saying that you have never washed the outside parts down below? does it not smell??

scottishmummy · 21/03/2014 20:09

There are internet articles say Elvis alive and living in Blantyre
Don't believe everything you read on internet

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2014 20:10

scottishmummy is right.

Everyone knows Elvis is living in Dagenham.
