Enticed by Mo and seeing it was a good source if protein, my dh went and bought lots of Quorn.

Interested to know what replaced the meat, I googled it only to find warnings about how unwell people have become after eating it!

Do not fancy it much now but realistically has anyone fallen ill after eating Quorn other than trumping loads from the protein?

OP posts:
GwenStacy · 08/02/2014 04:56

I eat loads of quorn and have never been I'll!

Catsize · 08/02/2014 05:11

Without Quorn, my life would be duller...

dunsborough · 08/02/2014 05:14

I love Quorn

VegetariansTasteLikeChicken · 08/02/2014 05:18

NO not had any problems with it at all! I love it actually. It is a fungus based product, could be people who have allergies to mushrooms etc?

giraffesCantMakeResolutions · 08/02/2014 05:34

Yes. Get very bad heartburn/indigestion. Am allergic to penicillin.

newsecretidentity · 08/02/2014 05:40

Nope, love the stuff.

ZingSweetApple · 08/02/2014 05:50

Just utter disgust

gamerchick · 08/02/2014 05:51

Just bad bellys and the squits.

LittleBabyPigsus · 08/02/2014 05:55

I've never had a reaction to it. I would imagine that mushroom/yeast allergies or egg allergies would be the most likely source of tummy upset from Quorn. Maybe sulphite sensitivities? Not sure what it's seasoned with but lots of things like veggie sausages contain sulphites (natural chemicals found in mustard/celery).

ChubbyFeets · 08/02/2014 05:59

Yes, it smells like feet. Yuck.

StrawberryTartYum · 08/02/2014 06:05

My veggie DM fed it to me regularly when I was wee, I had no bad side effects. Her favourite trick is to feed it to 'unsuspecting' committed meat eaters who she thinks will never notice the difference (!) and none of them have got ill either. So far anyway lucky for her Grin

AmIatwat · 08/02/2014 06:20

Stomach cramps.

Misspixietrix · 08/02/2014 06:28

OP yes I have. Was given it in hospital when pg with Ds.Spent the next morning being violently sick. Haven't touched it since.

Callmedavenotrodney · 08/02/2014 06:30

Most quorn products contain wheat so are off limits for gluten allergy / intolerance people.

LittleBabyPigsus · 08/02/2014 06:38

Callme it does taste quite bread-y so that makes sense. Explains why some people have had reactions - it's not like it's anything dodgy.

NoFavours · 08/02/2014 08:22

Some people have very strong reactions - a friend's husband will be throwing up shortly after eating it!

jendot · 08/02/2014 08:36

Gives me a terrible tummy and awful trapped wind....... Arghh

LaurieFairyCake · 08/02/2014 08:37

Diarrhoea. - I'm not veggie

Dd and dh who are veggie have no side effects

Joysmum · 08/02/2014 08:39

No we haven't.

I tend to use the mince to add to meat mince. The family don't notice the difference.

tulippa · 08/02/2014 08:42

No violent reactions - just lots of farts.

hiddenhome · 08/02/2014 08:43

Abdominal cramps, nausea and diarrhoea.

Lilithmoon · 08/02/2014 08:47

No reaction at all. DD, DH and I eat it a couple of times a week.

JabberJabberJay · 08/02/2014 08:47

Gives me wind and an upset tum if I eat too much, but nothing more serious than that.

PookBob · 08/02/2014 08:49

DP is violently ill within a couple of hours of eating Quorn. Sweating, d&v, and a 24 hr 'hangover' period. It's not pretty.

Dillydollydaydream · 08/02/2014 08:52

No me but my ds gets awful vomiting when he eats the quorum mince. It doesn't smell like normal sick (sorry tmi) it has an odd smell to it too Confused
