Enticed by Mo and seeing it was a good source if protein, my dh went and bought lots of Quorn.

Interested to know what replaced the meat, I googled it only to find warnings about how unwell people have become after eating it!

Do not fancy it much now but realistically has anyone fallen ill after eating Quorn other than trumping loads from the protein?

Violently ill here - severe vomiting, diarrhoea and rash.
it is the Devils food! ( not sure why it is even a food ,it is overprocessed junk)

TeamWill · 08/02/2014 12:41

Im not allergic to anything else BTW

mummytowillow · 08/02/2014 13:20

Apart from the texture making me heave, no!

I think its hideous but everyone is different!

Catsmamma · 08/02/2014 13:22

i have eaten it and cooked with it....have veggie friends, but generally regard it as mushroom crap!

roastednut · 08/02/2014 13:49

I used to love the mince and we'd eat loads of it with tons of veg etc. then weirdly I went off it, no reason whatsoever that I can think of (other than someone telling me it is bad for you in terms of processing) but the thought of eating it now makes me feel a bit queasy.

splasheeny · 08/02/2014 15:28

No never ill.

I think some people may be misatributing their symptoms to quorn.

You are more likely to fall ill from pork sausages.

squoosh · 08/02/2014 15:37

Vile muck with little to recommend it nutritionally, Personally I'm alarmed by the high number of people who have a strong allergic reaction to it.

TeamWill · 08/02/2014 15:40

splash the reactions to Quorn are well documented .
I am violently ill if I eat it - almost instantly.
Im not referring to food poisoning btw but an allergic reaction.

foslady · 08/02/2014 15:46

OK Splash, I'll come round to yours for a meal cooked with quornand stay the night.

You can deal with the aftermath. Twice eaten quorn (the same quorn eaten by someone else with NO reaction) and twice violently sick.

squoosh · 08/02/2014 15:49

I think when Quorn's own website has a section dedicated to Quorn intolerance you have to admit it's a well documented issue.

www.quorn.co.uk/intolerance/

gamerchick · 08/02/2014 15:52

I never react to pork sausages the way I react to quorn. I get the horrors thinking about eating the stuff.

I'll stick to proper meat thanks.

Innogen · 08/02/2014 15:53

Love Quorn. Never ill.

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 08/02/2014 15:56

I'm a long term veggie - I've tried Quorn twice and both times been violently sick 45 minutes later.

Never again!

mousmous · 08/02/2014 15:57

yes, awful trapped wind/cramps, diarrhoea.
and it tastes weird and has a weird texture.

LessMissAbs · 08/02/2014 15:57

Isn't there a link between Quorn and metabolic disorders in some people?

NettoSuperstar · 08/02/2014 15:58

Tried it twice, both times got the wild shites soon after, plus it's not very nice.

mydadsdaughter · 08/02/2014 15:59

Tried it twice, projectile vomited both times, am not allergic to mushrooms though,

FlumpsRule · 08/02/2014 16:01

Only been sick a handful of times in my entire life. Not knowingly allergic to anything. Had Quorn 'chicken pieces' twice and violently sick both times. Will never touch the stuff again. I am intrigued that so many other people have the same reaction - I can generally eat anything else with no ill effects.

perplexedpirate · 08/02/2014 16:08

Never, and DH, DS and I eat it daily.
None of us are allergic or sensitive to anything though.

HMG83 · 08/02/2014 16:08

Yes! Both my DM and me get severe stomach cramps and vomiting! It's been banned from the table for years now!

HMG83 · 08/02/2014 16:09

Should add we are both allergic to mushrooms and have the same reaction to those too :)

squoosh · 08/02/2014 16:12

A lot of people think Quorn is more or less made of mushrooms. Quorn have actually been banned from marketing it as such. Yes, both are fungi but Quorn is a man made, lab produced fungus. Not quite as wholesome as woodland mushrooms!

CiderBomb · 08/02/2014 16:14

It makes me fart like hell.

Yes I am intrigued why everyone is mentioning mushrooms too? Quorn is a fungi but is not close to mushrooms, it is closer to mould apparently Shock
