I read this last night and it just about broke my heart

I believe her, and I am just so saddened by it

How the hell did he not get prosecuted

brave brave girl, and I feel awful as I have watched and enkoyed his films, even knowing of this murky tale in the background

YANBU, you can believe who you like, but we don't know the truth. It's a strange age we're living in where the public make these judgements based on open letters and tweets and the like. Fact is he didn't get prosecuted and has been vetted and allowed to adopt children. I don't know who I'd believe, the whole set-up with that family was very peculiar and it's not down to me to make a call really, but those are some facts.

Smoorikins · 03/02/2014 09:17

I agree with Pinkdelight.

YouAreMyRain · 03/02/2014 09:22

Let him sue her then, I am sure she is confident enough in her version of events that he will be unable to prove himself innocent.

Twistiesandshout · 03/02/2014 09:24

I believe her too. What other reason could there be to write something like that other that it's the truth. So very sad.

mercibucket · 03/02/2014 09:26

nothing new is it though, and everyone has happily ignored it for years Sad Sad Sad

Joysmum · 03/02/2014 09:27

I've been dead sure that certain public figures were guilty, and then found out the woman has lied. I've also been dead certain other public figures were innocent, only for them to confess to more.

Consequently I don't know what to think and try not to get emotionally drawn in until it's gone through the courts.

KatieScarlett2833 · 03/02/2014 09:30

I believe you Dylan.

OwlCapone · 03/02/2014 09:32

Fact is he didn't get prosecuted

Because Mia Farrow didn't press charges in order to protect her daughter.

Smoorikins · 03/02/2014 09:32

There are reasons why people lie about such things, but I feel it is inappropriate to go into them when discussing an individual case. People would, for one thing thing that I am saying she is lying, when That wouldnt be the case, and they would also assume that I am on 'his side', when really I would just be trying to show a balanced perspective.

OpalQuartz · 03/02/2014 09:32

I believe her.

I believe her

Rooners · 03/02/2014 09:53

I don't know her, or the bloke she is talking about, or her mother.

But the article rings very true. So I believe her as well.

Not that it matters too much - I'm a stranger.

But I believe her.

Rooners · 03/02/2014 09:55

Also I've never understood what is so cool about Woody Allen. He was always a prick in his films, I could never understand why any sane woman would date that. seemed to have some kind of God complex.

QueenThora · 03/02/2014 09:58

In cases like this it's very hard to find actual evidence that proves it one way or the other. It does come down to who you believe, and someone has to believe the complainant in order for the case to even get to court. It's not wrong to believe her in the absence of proof and a conviction.

I definitely believe her.

It's a matter of public record that they guy has a penchant for very young partners, including one (his current wife) who he started out with, arguably, in a parental role. And most of his children seem to want nothing to do with him. I think it's telling that her brothers seem to support her.

I hope he will be sued, because that's what an allegation like this should lead to.

bochead · 03/02/2014 10:03

It sounds as if her mother didn't press charges to avoid a vulnerable child being victimised twice, once by the abuser, and then again by a legal system that isn't set up to support child victims.

I don't know enough about the US legal system to be sure how accurate a judgement that is, but the media circus must have had a terrible impact on the children in that family. One of the rare times I can see why the UK family court is held in secret. At least in this country a mother trying to protect her child from an abusive partner is spared having the details of the case splashed across the papers.

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/02/2014 10:07

Can someone kist clarify if I have this right

-Mia has lots of kids
-She gets with Woody Allen
-Woody sexually assults one of Mia's daughters (Dylan) -allegedly /depending on what you believe
-Mia and Woody split up
-Woody and Soon-Yi (another of Mia's daughters) get together as a couple

Is this right??? Just spent ages trying to google who is who and still confused

LittleWhiteWolf · 03/02/2014 21:22

I believe her.

OpalQuartz · 03/02/2014 21:35

Just read that Mia Farrow and Woody Allen began dating in 1980. It was revealed in 1992 that Mia's adopted daughter Soon Yi (aged 21) and Woody Allen (aged 56) were together. Hmm
