Parcel arrived on the 2nd of January

it was a delivery that the delivery people put it under there doormat

I took it in in case of theft

We live in flats

I put a note threw their door

It's not been collectected

can I open it and keep it now?

It's amazing what you can hide under a doormat, anything from a key to hair loss shampoo.

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2014 20:40

I don't think Rose does intend to keep it Pixel. Unless she needs shampoo for thinning hair. Grin

HyvaPaiva · 31/01/2014 20:41

well kind of delivey delverer thinks hiding a parcel under a doormat will make it invisible?

...Says the person who stole it Grin

MrsWedgeAntilles · 31/01/2014 20:42

Me too :)

mygorgeousmilo · 31/01/2014 20:42

Put a post it or something on front of their door saying "Hi I'm at No.- and I have a parcel for you" stick it right by the keyhole. If it disappears and they STILL don't collect, then leave it outside their door. I'm not getting this whole 'stealing to prevent theft' concept...........

MrsWedgeAntilles · 31/01/2014 20:43

That last one was to Sparkling, this thread is moving at break neck speed.

FastWindow · 31/01/2014 20:44

I'd be miffed if my neighbour threw my door Grin

flatbellyfella · 31/01/2014 20:44

It will teach the deliverydeliverer a lesson.

Tallforadwarf · 31/01/2014 20:44

MrsWedge, so fast you could lose your hair! Funnily enough I know of some shampoo.....

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2014 20:45

For all we know the neighbour could have complained to the shampoo people and had another bottle delivered by now.

Sleepgrumpydopey · 31/01/2014 20:46

Maybe the guys a hairdresser and the shampoo was for the local drug dealer and because he didn't have it he washed the dealers hair with normal shampoo. The dealer then went bald and shot the guy whose parcel it was!!!

Tallforadwarf · 31/01/2014 20:47

Look for the neighbour with a mad Afro Rose! They may still be alive.

BackOnlyBriefly · 31/01/2014 21:11

Perhaps your neighbour reads MN and now knows who stole their parcel.

scantilymad · 31/01/2014 21:35

Dishonest appropriation with intention to permanently deprive. Sounds like theft to me!

salsmum · 31/01/2014 21:39

Suppose it's been reported as missing/stolen? and the parcel man has lost his job over it.....what if that poor man has waited a long time for the job, what if that man was your DH,DP,DD,DB.....I could go on forever with 'what ifs' but how about you just do the decent thing and return it?.
When I worked as an activity leader in an elderly residential home I was collecting goods for the summer fete...I came across a handbag that really liked...I put a few quid in the fund and that was the end of it. When I got home I went through the bag to check for mouldy mints/boiled sweets anything and found £70 worth of various gift vouchers in Christmas cards 'to Nan' ( I myself was struggling) I felt sad that they'd been left in there in error. The zip at the front of the bag had a Hospital letter in it (Thank God) in a lovely residents name....the next day I returned the bag to the residents daughter who worked their and was a lovely co-worker. Her daughter thanked me and said I could keep the bag which I was more than happy with...her daughter then explained that her Mum was showing early signs of Dementia and had probably put the bag in in error. I'm pleased I did the right thing and don't regret a thing. Smile.

flatbellyfella · 31/01/2014 21:49

I once was expecting a parcel of curtains...
After several calls and several weeks the company eventually told me that they had delieved to number 1 instead and the person had signed it in my name (the name on the parcel)

So no.note thru the door

So I go to number 1..
I say 'hi, is (wadi83) there please. The woman looks at me baffled and.says, no, no-one here of that name...

So I say '
I was just wondering why u would sign.for a parcel in my name if it isn't your name...

She started stuttering and I said 'can.I.have my.parcel back'

She opened the door and pointed, and there was my 'parcel' hung up at her windows, (my curtains)

.......

I was Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock and said the police would be in.contact and walked away.

I rang the parcel.company back.and.told them that my.parcel was missing, they replaced them eventually Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock

RoseRedder · 31/01/2014 21:56

I left a homemade cheese scone on top just to say sorry I opened your parcel

KatoPotato · 31/01/2014 22:03

Omg... Was the package for SHARON??!

SuburbanRhonda · 31/01/2014 22:05

I'm sure that will more than make up for them having a thief as a neighbour, OP Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2014 22:06

Aww they can wash their hair and have a cheese scone after Rose. Thoughtful. If they ask you can just say 'I thought it was your life saving medication'. Wink
