to want to try coke just once?

I'm nearing a significant and have a bit of a bucket list.
This is one thing that I'm considering.
Sourcing it shouldn't be a problem.
I've tried softer drugs in my midtwenties, but am now just got a yearning to give it a go in a very controlled environment. But and a little bit concerned about the aftermath.
AIBU to be thinking like this?

Speed is nasty stuff, don't bother & no to coke too, I wouldn't & Ive tried it a few times in my youth, maybe if you are absolutely sure you have no underlying high BP, etc etc, but its not that special & I did have good stuff, not something I would do again.

If I could turn back time & be sure I was healthy again, the only drug I would happily try again would be a smaller amount of LSD, I might have said ecstasy or MDMA one upon a time, but that was in the days of it being new to the UK, what came later wasn't the same & not at all nice.

Scarletohello · 20/01/2014 23:58

When I used to work in criminal justice I sat in on a lot of drugs trials and when they analysed the drugs often they were no more than 2% pure, often cut with stuff like washing powder, rat poison etc. Put me off for life!

Everyone I've ever known has been a twat on cocaine.

If you wanna do it go ahead but there may be consequences. Do you have someone reputable you can get it from?

Gossipmonster · 21/01/2014 00:02

There are probably healthy activities you could aspire to?

Have made the long journey though "trying" things once which led on to coke, crack and finally heroin nearly killing me on numerous occasions I wouldn't bother tbh.

I much prefer my life with my kids.

Sparklysilversequins · 21/01/2014 00:06

I used to like it but it gets very old.

Thing with it is once you've done it once you will want to do it again and that won't stop until one day you're just sick to the back teeth of the stuff, that can take a while though.

In the meantime you've spent a fortune on it and probably gone some way to really messing up your mental health. So even when you're sick of it you'll likely still be in quite a state. In short you'll pay quite a lot of money to buy yourself a mental health condition.

Bargain!

Thinking on it further, we have a group of friends who got into taking it at parties one of them threw from time to time, all very respectable, MC professionals, lots of school mum chums too - we stopped going to the parties because they all became so annoying, very boring watching them get off their tits & talk shite & generally no fun at all, even less so as they often had DCs around too, they thought that they were being oh so subtle - they really weren't Hmm

Thants · 21/01/2014 00:09

I feel the same about heroin. I just want to know what it's like! Of course I never will try it, what with it being so moreish.
I wouldn't bother with coke tbh. It's so expensive and you have to have a fair amount to even feel anything. Snorting is rank too Confused

RockinHippy · 21/01/2014 00:16

I accidentally smoked heroine once, as in young naive & abroad & I thought our local friends were just sharing a spiff, if a bit odd the way it was rolled - to this day I cannot understand why anyone would bother, let alone, so much that they become addicts - not particularly unpleasant - unless you were my friend who spent the rest of the night throwing up - but not so good I would ever want to try it againConfused - I'm lucky not to have a addictive personality though, but over the following years all of those friends died as a result of it - ALL of them - for what :(

thornrose · 21/01/2014 00:18

  1. You'll feel amazing. 2. You'll have a great night sharing your deepest, darkest, intense thoughts and generally being King of the fucking world. 3. You'll want line after line after line and the night to never end.
  1. You'll go to bed at 6 am and lie there grinding your teeth and trying to relax. 5. You'll get up feeling like crap and full of anxiety, regret and palpitations.

Next weekend you'll only think about 1 so will do it all again. You might've had enough after a few months or a few years, it depends.

Your bucket list should say never try coke Grin

NigellasDealer · 21/01/2014 00:20

i wouldn't bother with cocaine it turns perfectly reasonable people into total egotistical idiots - in fact one of the last times i saw my brother he was rubbing his nose furiously, shouting about how how stupid i was, and flinging his car around these cuntry lanes as though he was on Top gear, never mind that he had my then 4 year old twins in the back - he did not give a FUCK - and then he had the cheek to be surprised when I asked him if he had a nice night snorting the 'columbian marching powder' as his stupid sloaney friends used to call it.
what a bellend.

Loving this thread and the responses.

Doubt there is anything out there these days worth snorting that isn't ridiculously priced and even then not worth it.

But don't panic if you do...your nose won't crumble and you won't become an addict.

Go out with some great friends to a great club and bomb some Mandy instead Shock

LongRoadToRuin · 21/01/2014 00:33

YABU.

Yes, I am boring but I hate drugs especially cocaine (for very good reasons I may add).

Once is enough to kill you.

NigellasDealer · 21/01/2014 00:40

actually with cocaine that is true - esp if mixed with alcohol - the alchohol and the cocaine form some unholy chemical alliance and especially if you are middle aged, this can just give you a heart attack and it's good night Vienna.

AnyFucker · 21/01/2014 00:43

I don't think I am boring for thinking that people who do coke are nobheads

MakingEveryDayCount · 21/01/2014 00:44

^^ What anyfucker said.

SparkleSoiree · 21/01/2014 00:57

Of all the things to do in life, of all the amazing things you could put on a bucket list, you choose drugs? YABU.

expatinscotland · 21/01/2014 01:03

Oh, yay! What a bucket list, but you are still alive and not terminally ill.

To try a drug that has killed and continues to kill, tens of thousands of people, enslave thousands more, many children, expose them to lethal toxins.

Yah, hurray! Just a bit of fun.

Try stone/meth instead, that is so much better for those enslaved by its production and the entire world.

Yay, the slaughter of thousands is no big deal.

Heroin, why not just donate the money to your nearest terrorist cell. Where do you think they get their money?

No harm done.

Hmm
expatinscotland · 21/01/2014 01:06

Oh, no, don't panic, no one ever dies after just the once . . .

A bucket list, gees, only seen those in people who are terminally ill but hey, if you snort coke . . .

LOSER.

pricklyPea · 21/01/2014 01:09

You have children and you're thinking of potentially doing something dangerous and illegal for the sake of ticking something off your bucket list? How about adding 'grow the fuck up' onto the list and tick that one off instead?

So yabu and selfish and reckless.

You have your health your family and I assume other things going for you so why potentially jeopardise it all? Hey it might go well and you might just wake up with a hangover and a stuffy nose, or it might be the worst decision you'll ever make. Your life.

NigellasDealer · 21/01/2014 01:11

god take a chill pill folks....

goinggreyagain · 21/01/2014 01:12

I knew I should not have read this thread... I am in awe at some of the posts. Yeah go ahead its just one line.
My son at 18 (just started university) thought the same, 2yrs later almost to the day and dragging him all over the country for treatment, countless ER visits, therapists detox etc I had 2 policemen come to my door to tell me I had lost the battle to save him. From one line to an urn sitting in my bedroom in 2yrs. No big deal, right .......

Terrortree · 21/01/2014 01:13

Please don't. It is likely there are child victims and exploited people involved in the making and delivery of your experience.

Adapt your bucket list to: today I took a stand for humanity. 'Twas a great high.

ThatVikRinA22 · 21/01/2014 01:19

What.is the appeal? do some research on trafficking, then see.if.you still feel like it. (and if you do imo you are a prize pillock) people die to give idiots with more money than sense a quick thrill. grow a conscience.

ThatVikRinA22 · 21/01/2014 01:20

Going grey
am so sorry for your loss.
