I'm nearing a significant and have a bit of a bucket list.
This is one thing that I'm considering.
Sourcing it shouldn't be a problem.
I've tried softer drugs in my midtwenties, but am now just got a yearning to give it a go in a very controlled environment. But and a little bit concerned about the aftermath.
AIBU to be thinking like this?

Don't bother - it's shit. When you look at the wider implications of cocaine importation as well.......it's just not worth it imho.

I can understand this... I can remember talking with a friend about being interested/intrigued by this drug. No other drugs just coke. I did try it, with my now husband many years ago. We had great fun! I'm glad I tried it but don't think I'd waste money now...

Enjoy Wink

Is anyone actually saying that taking drugs are a good thing?

That would be so vague and sweeping a statement as to be meaningless.

Ask a better question.

I would still be interested to hear from the posters that think its okay to take drugs.
If you think its less harmful than alcohol, would you do it with your child~?

I've seen lots of patients during psych on calls and in A+E who have done one or more of the following after trying cocaine once:

  • become acutely suicidal when coming down and harmed themselves or attempted to do so- sometimes very dramatic, fine earlier that day, then took a bit of coke, now absolutely intent on killing themselves. I only see the ones that survive though...
  • developed heart problems- heart attacks or abnormal rhythms- people do die of this after using coke
  • did something really stupid and illegal, like getting in a fight (even if you're in a controlled environment what's to stop you leaving said environment?) and getting charged with something, and I've seen them because the offence was so out of character for them so the sheriff asked for a psychiatric report, but it was all because of the coke and now they have a criminal record

All of the above are common- not things I've only seen once or twice. Have also seen people have a psychotic or manic episode after one try of coke, but that's less common- usually need to take a bit more to get a drug induced psychosis.

Bloody stupid idea. Don't listen to the posters that are telling you one try doesn't hurt.

To be fair, if I did any of those things after taking coke I'd probably claim it was my first time.

You have no evidence that all these 'first timers' are anything of the sort and you can't possibly know their backgrounds re mental health - only what they say and what shows in their records, which may be a partial picture.

Basing your analysis of real risk on your personal clinical experience is not scientific.

Something, no. I will let the question stand as it is.
