to want to try coke just once?

I'm nearing a significant and have a bit of a bucket list.
This is one thing that I'm considering.
Sourcing it shouldn't be a problem.
I've tried softer drugs in my midtwenties, but am now just got a yearning to give it a go in a very controlled environment. But and a little bit concerned about the aftermath.
AIBU to be thinking like this?

I tried it once a couple of years ago at the grand old age of 55 as it was on my bucket list too and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. A double G&T is much more fun imho. Don't waste your money.

BillyBanter · 20/01/2014 23:02

I'm assuming the posters on this thread protesting about the chain of misery all their clothes from people tree and don't use petrol or buy nestle or coca cola or or or.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 20/01/2014 23:02

furthermore i don't get why people say things like 'it's no worse than alcohol, as if that makes it better. isn't there enough evidence to show how harmful - physically and mentally - alcohol can be to addicts and their families?

SauceForTheGander · 20/01/2014 23:03

I've never met anyone who's personality has been improved by line of coke.

But if talking shit is your thing and thinking you're the best thing ever - followed by anxiety then go for it!

But what Poppy said is true. The drugs' trade is steeped in the horrendous treatment of innocent people.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 20/01/2014 23:04

where are you thinking of buying it to, if it's a home address then if the police are watching and catch you with cocaine, they’ll always take some action. This could include a formal caution, arrest and prosecution.

Possession can get you up to seven years in jail.

SauceForTheGander · 20/01/2014 23:04

Drug trade - sorry ... !

Robfordscrack · 20/01/2014 23:06

Yabu - for having a bucket list :)

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 20/01/2014 23:07

Billy i dont buy coca cola or nestle. All my clothes, and i mean ALL, right down to bra and knickers are second hand from my sister and i need my car to get to work or we'd starve. Clothes and diesel are essentials. Coke (the white variety) is not.

Droves · 20/01/2014 23:08

Its illegal for a reason .

And its Class A . That comes with a prison sentence .

If your looking for a holiday at her majs pleasure , then bash on .

Danielle Westbrook took coke .... look at the state of her nose because of it . Her nose fell apart.

My final argument is coke heads think that they are brilliant .... thats the coke addled brain. Most are infact massive arseholes .

Fifyfomum · 20/01/2014 23:09

It's not all it's cracked up to be (badoomtsh)

landrover · 20/01/2014 23:09

Im sorry, but you are an idiot!

PirateJelly · 20/01/2014 23:10

I wouldn't waste your money if I was you op. £50 for what the call a gram but is 3/4 of one if your lucky. Then enjoy a numb nose and 20 minutes of feeling like your having a panic attack with slight added euthoria. If you are drunk you will sober up more or less straight away or if you take it with drink you won't get drunk (although it's really dangerous to drink alcohol and take cocaine at the same time as it metabolises into a new drug altogether I believe)

Yes you may talk shit and you can call it an experience, especially come 4am when you are desperate for sleep but your jaw is so tight it's vibrating against the pillow and you can't switch off.

Seriously so not worth it. Although I am also of the try most things once 5 times but it's really not what it's cracked up to be (pardon the pun)

BillyBanter · 20/01/2014 23:11

Its illegal for a reason

Politics?

Helpyourself · 20/01/2014 23:14

No desire. I've only ever used cannabis- take it or leave it as a student, and alcohol- round the clock raging alcoholic until I stopped 4 years ago.
I fully intend never taking another mind altering substance in my life, and work hard to ensure I never do.
It gives me great peace of mind.

thenicknameiwantedisgone · 20/01/2014 23:18

Well when people like something and it makes them feel good, they tend to want to feel that way again. If you intend to become an habitual user then ok but saying you just want to try it once is a bit naive unless you make a comitent to yourself beforehand that whether you like it or not you wouldnt do it again ever.

^ This ^. Do you really want to run the risk of loving it and going back for more, and more, and more?!?!

What would your kids say if you asked them for their opinion? If you're too embarrassed or awkward to so that, surely that says something!!

sweetkitty · 20/01/2014 23:19

It's ok just ok

Much preferred E when I was younger.

McFox · 20/01/2014 23:21

1 or 2 lines isn't going to turn you into a fiend or make your nose fall apart! It was never my drug of choice but I don't see any harm in a one off - lots of it in the uk is a but shit anyway, there are much better naughty things that you'd have way more fun with!

whethergirl · 20/01/2014 23:29

There is a lot of rubbish out there OP, the quality will greatly affect your experience. And no, you're not going to become an addict by just trying it once ffs! It works better with alcohol (as in, be at least a bit tipsy). Don't take it sober.

I used to dabble in my youth, have taken it on a few occassions in recent years. I may have it again, I may never have it again. It's not a big deal and no more harmful than alcohol. I would be prepared for a come down though afterwards, as sometimes experienced but a good night's sleep should sort it. But if you're prone to anxiety then it may affect you like that (personally I still prefer it to an alcohol hangover). If you're literally only considering having a couple of lines then I wouldn't even think twice about it. Another thing to consider...the first line (of the night - not ever) is the best, all the rest don't quite measure up to it!

Thatisall · 20/01/2014 23:37

Drugs are bad mmkay

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 20/01/2014 23:43

whether how exactly do you become an addict then, if not from trying it once?

Grennie · 20/01/2014 23:46

Speed is really nice. Only took it once and never would again, because I liked it too much.

MoonlightandRoses · 20/01/2014 23:47

BillyB - not quite PeopleTree, but yes, relatively ethical/fair trade/local purchase in general.

Not seen many stats on the additional miseries of forced prostitution/human trafficking aspects (as opposed to the known child labour/inhumane conditions) of the clothes/food/fuel trades mind you so would be interested if you have some to hand?

whethergirl · 20/01/2014 23:47

Vampyreof I would say a lot depends on the drug, the person and the circumstances. I highly doubt the OP, considering the situation, is going to become a coke addict after one night.

MakingEveryDayCount · 20/01/2014 23:50

Yes, YABU. I completely see where you're coming from re: the bucket list as I've made a list of stuff I need to do this year, just because!
(Also hence the user name Smile
Why on this earth though would you want to try drugs as one of the tick off list?! Confused
Christ, it's supposed to be a tick off thing of things to do and enjoy while you still can.
Not knacker you up and put you one step closer to not being here at all! Confused

AnyFucker · 20/01/2014 23:51
