I used to sport the landing strip up until I was about 6 months pregnant with ds who is now 2. I stopped shaving as I couldn't see what I was doing, also might sound daft but kind of wanted it to be the way nature intended to give birth.
Since then I haven't shaved, waxed, trimmed etc. I'm not massively hairy so it's not a full on 80s style bush.
DP moaned the other day as he liked it the way I used to have it. Hmm. I sort of told him tough luck it's my bits and quite frankly I cba and like not having itchy stubble. He watched our Baby come out of there fgs surely he realises it's not a fashion accessory?
AIBU to not make the effort for dp?

DayAfterYesterday I don't actually have any hair on the underneath part anyway.

mammatj no one has ever called me 'girly' - not even as a child. That kinda blows your theory out of the water.

I do keep meaning to NC to something like spectrumbird

Weelady77 · 18/01/2014 21:07

This is so funny who really gives a flying flick what anyone's else's daisy is likeGrin

WorraLiberty · 18/01/2014 21:08

Every older generation tuts and bosom hoiks at the what the younger generation does.

The tutting and hoiking is simply aimed at pubic hair removal now

Past generations tutted and hoiked at punk hairstyles/music/dances etc..

It's just par for the course really.

Binkyridesagain · 18/01/2014 21:09

I'm happy to know that no matter what the decade and no matter what the fashion, my minge will never be 'on trend'. Its full of bald patches and the hairy bits aren't that hairy.

It does its job, I can ask no more of it.

FightingOverImaginaryIcecream · 18/01/2014 21:10

I trim some of the length off with scissors (because otherwise it's long enough to tangle), but that's it. After having DS I invested in a swimming costume which gives a bit more upper thigh coverage and haven't touched the sides since.

I used to shave around the edges, but no longer have any tolerance with itchy regrowth and ingrown hairs.

BobPatSamandIgglePiggle · 18/01/2014 21:10

Mine is a massive bush - mainly because DH has been doing the bathroom for nearly 3 fucking years, we've not had a shower in all that time and I'm not shaving it in the bath and sitting in floaty pubes.

theressomethingaboutmarie · 18/01/2014 21:12

I used to have the full mow of my lady garden (for my own comfort NOT for DH) but since having DC2, I'm too poor and time deprived to give it any real attention. When I finally get some time to start giving it some attention, it will be a quick Veet of the stragglers.

Joysmum · 18/01/2014 21:12

Hubby and I are both clean shaven. Love how sensitive we both feel to the touch.

MalcolmTuckersMistress · 18/01/2014 21:20

I woman therefor I pube.

Or something like that...

Mia4 · 18/01/2014 21:20

Yanbu. If you want to do it then have it be for yourself not anyone else.

I wax. Take it in at sides to tidy it. Mainly though I wax my thighs. Im unlucky in that my bikini is.not just a bit wild it's a full.on jungle almost down to my knees.

mgrg · 18/01/2014 21:22

So hi Worra. You're back. The last time i spoke to you, you were taking the p out of me cos i wasnt coping with my mother's sudden death and i was a bit under the influence...So, I genuinely hope that you and Mumsnet are genuinely looking at the Mumsnet site and I wish you all good for your future,

poorincashrichinlove · 18/01/2014 21:23

Been pondering starting this thread myself. I had a hack today and rather enjoy the smoothness. Normally I'm pretty lazy and appreciate au naturel. It is a maintenance job I can happily live without though.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 18/01/2014 21:27

Mine is always hair free.

When I was pregnant and could not do it DH did it for me, mine is never itchy.

EdithWeston · 18/01/2014 21:30

I trim away knicker spiders if I'm likely to be swimming, but otherwise leave it alone,.

Unless you're about to go on holiday in a resort with saunas where nudity is the norm, who will see your pubis?

If the amount of pubic hair is an issue for your DH, and you want to please him, then trim. But it's really up to you. Does he alter his body hair to please you?

FTRsGotAShinyNewNN · 18/01/2014 21:32

Au natural here too, a trim with the nail scissors if it's getting out of hand.
I'm 29 but it's total laziness and apathy in my part, I just don't care enough to do much about it.

AngryFeet · 18/01/2014 21:35

I usually wax but haven't in months so have grown a massive bush. DH calls it my massive growler and makes a growling noise when he sees it Hmm. He seems to find it very amusing.

squoosh · 18/01/2014 21:36

I keep mine trimmed but never take it all off.

I really don't buy the 'men who like pube free women actually like young girls'. I think that's a massive leap to make!

EatingAllTheCrumpets · 18/01/2014 21:39

I used to shave mine off, but for the last couple of years I've just trimmed the bikini line and trim it a little so it's not au natural but near enough! I'm 28 if that makes any difference.

I prefer it, I felt I was only shaving it as that's what was expected. DH hasn't mentioned it, think he knows better than to tell me what to do with my bits Grin

I do worry that I'm probably in the minority, so it's nice to know I'm not alone.

WorraLiberty · 18/01/2014 21:41

mgrg Actually you were pissed out of your head and totally misunderstood what I'd said (even though other people clarified). However, I'm not entirely sure why you've brought it up so if it's all the same I won't bother replying to you after this.

ILiveInAPineappleCoveredInSnow · 18/01/2014 21:46

Au naturel here, mainly because I'm lazy and also hate being itchy.

To be honest, I think my DH is incredibly privileged to be allowed near my lady garden, trimmed or not, and should therefore make no comment as to its state of landscaping and just be bloody grateful I'm choosing him from all of mankind to be allowed in close proximity to it!

PaperBagPrincess · 18/01/2014 21:53

I'm 36. I was au naturel for most of. Y life but have got hairier and hairier as I have aged and it pisses me off...its growing half way down my keg and up my belly and is SO curly, long and itchy. I started shaving my bikini livne, the graduated to a landing strip. Love it. It feels nicer and more sensitive during sex. I definitely do it for me. DH couldnt care less ...and I agree that the cultural shift towards shaven havens is a bit weird and definitely porn-driven in some instances.

Tiptops · 18/01/2014 21:54

Wouldn't judge anyone else's choices but I hate being natural so have regular brazilian waxes. Love the feeling of baby soft skin instead of hair, touch is more sensual, feels cleaner. As for the comments about looking like a young girl, er no Hmm not likely with a woman's body with breasts, hips etc! If you're shaped like a beanpole with no curves then maybe, but for everyone else it takes more than a bit of pubic hair to be able to distinguish between a child and adult body!

HopeClearwater · 18/01/2014 21:54

Can someone in the know please say how often you would need to shave to keep bald (as it were) all the time? Surely it would be at least every other day to avoid stubble? Isn't that a giant fag? And waxing would need to be done fairly often too, but what about the regrowth? It just sounds an awful lot of maintenance...

Weelady77 · 18/01/2014 21:56

Hope I used to get waxed every 4 weeks now it's every 6 weeks
