To ask how many of you have a 'natural' lady garden?

I used to sport the landing strip up until I was about 6 months pregnant with ds who is now 2. I stopped shaving as I couldn't see what I was doing, also might sound daft but kind of wanted it to be the way nature intended to give birth.
Since then I haven't shaved, waxed, trimmed etc. I'm not massively hairy so it's not a full on 80s style bush.
DP moaned the other day as he liked it the way I used to have it. Hmm. I sort of told him tough luck it's my bits and quite frankly I cba and like not having itchy stubble. He watched our Baby come out of there fgs surely he realises it's not a fashion accessory?
AIBU to not make the effort for dp?

Not me. Hair removal cream every few weeks. I'm ridiculously hairy and seeing my moustache and gorilla-esque arms every day is more than enough without rampant pubes as well. Husband couldn't give a fuck either way.
I'm 28

Scarletohello · 18/01/2014 22:44

And what if we demanded similar standards that men demand of us? Get rid of your gut, use moisturiser, wear more fashionable clothes, get your teeth done shave your pubes, legs etc..,?

It would never bloody happen which is why I resent having to do this..!!!!

WorraLiberty · 18/01/2014 22:48

No-one has to do any of those things Scarletohello

And speaking purely from my own personal experience, no man has ever demanded I do any of those other things you mentioned either.

Weelady77 · 18/01/2014 22:49

Scarlet my DH has never demanded either he couldn't give a flying fuck what it looks like as long as he gets it!
For me it's just cleaner

lookingfoxy · 18/01/2014 22:50

Ugh I veet all mine off when ive actually got the privacy tk do it otherwise it resembles a 70's porn star. Dp has never commented either way.
My body and ill dehair as I prefer, it definitely makes sex better, I feel the hair acts like a buffer!!!

5OBalesofHay · 18/01/2014 22:51

Don't remove any body hair except chin bristles. Not that hairy (except for chin)

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 18/01/2014 22:52

Very occasional partial shave and/or trim. Feels cleaner IMO, plus avoids swimsuit stragglers.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 18/01/2014 22:56

Didn't know you could use Veet on pubes!! There's an idea!
Does it burn if it gets too close to the plumbing?

Spermysextowel · 18/01/2014 22:56

I think I remember giving mine a quick scissor trim before a holiday, but that was about 12 years ago.

I very much appreciate the additions to my vocab that this has given tho. In particular pubic jazz hands and knicker spiders. Reasons to guffaw when I put on my large granny pants on a cold winter morning.

catsrus · 18/01/2014 23:00

Mine is as nature decrees - and always has been (I'm almost 60) I am totally mind boggled as to why anyone would want to do otherwise. I remember being on holiday, in my teens, with a group of friends and one had totally shaved "down here" - we were 17. Didn't get it then, don't get it now.

ineedsomeinspiration · 18/01/2014 23:06

Zombie you can get a special one for down there but my bits are sensitive and my lord did it burn!
The thing I don't understand is those that say for me it is cleaner. I wash my bits at least once, sometimes twice a day. Why would the hair make it any less clean? Is my face dirty as I have hair on my head?

FredFredGeorge · 18/01/2014 23:10

I'm male in my 40's so don't have much of a lady garden... however I have always trimmed / shaved / tended my manly garden. Even when completely single and with zero chance of anyone else seeing it.

VoyageDeVerity · 18/01/2014 23:17

It's cleaner because you don't wee, poo or have periods through your head hair.

Alisvolatpropiis · 18/01/2014 23:18

I guess I do. I'm not hirsute at all, which surprises people because the hair on my head is very dark.

It's mostly because waxing is expensive and I cannot bear shaving.

I'm happy either way, though I feel cleaner when completely bare for one week of the month.

Weelady77 · 18/01/2014 23:18

Ineed I don't know why I feel cleaner but I do, especially around the time of the month!

SuzanneUK · 18/01/2014 23:24

AIBU to not make the effort for dp?

It depends just how much of an effort it is for you.

WhereYouLeftIt · 18/01/2014 23:24

I can vaguely remember getting waxed in preparation for beach holidays in my twenties, but that was a couple of decades ago and then some. I'm not sure if being an old git maturity gives you the confidence to reject the current fashion of hairlessness that has leaked over from the porn industry or if I am just too old to give a shit Grin.

stickysausages · 18/01/2014 23:25

I'm 33, and pretty au naturel. Life's too short, and my husband is a real man, who can cope with a real woman who has hair!

WorraLiberty · 18/01/2014 23:30

I think all men are real aren't they?

Some men have a preference for pubic hair, some have an aversion to it and some couldn't give a shiny shite.

ineedsomeinspiration · 18/01/2014 23:32

voyage perhaps I am not very hairy then as I have never had any problems with any of that getting in my pupic hair. I have more of a bush out front but hardly anything underneath if you see what I mean.

OP posts:
Alisvolatpropiis · 18/01/2014 23:33

I'm 25. My dp is older. He likes it when I'm waxed bit as far as I know he likes it just the same when I'm not.

I think men who only like one or the other are weird. It's our choice as women.

babacoon · 18/01/2014 23:38

Mine is all waxed and tamed.

scantilymad · 18/01/2014 23:52

It's all personal choice but I have a bikini line wax every 3 weeks with my leg wax. Only just beyond my knicker line and at the back. I use a ladyshave to keep the remaining hairs short. I've never had a Brazilian etc but I do like not being able to see any hair when I put knickers on. It just feels 'neat' to me.
I'm 29 and although I don't think many of my contemporaries regularly go for a brazilian or a Hollywood, it is considered pretty unusual and not that attractive to leave everything au naturel. Don't know why and we didn't make the rules!
I am a neat freak so like everything short and sweet!

HMG83 · 18/01/2014 23:54

I'm 30, completely waxed down below and arms are always waxed too. I do it for myself, much prefer the hairless feel.

DP trims his (and his balls). I wouldn't mind if he didn't but I'd be lying if I said I didn't prefer him all trimmed and tidy!

OxfordBags · 18/01/2014 23:58

OP, it's not cleaner, don't listen to that nonsense. It's such an accepted lie (with nasty misogynist origins) that far too many people just trot it out unthinkingly. The very reason we have pubic hair is to maintain hygiene and keep the right vaginal flora balance. It's actually less hygienic for internal health to have little or no pubic hair.

Voyage, I'm a bit worried about you pooing through your pubic hair - have you considered seeing your Dr about what might be some sort of deformity?
