My DH won't buy them for me. So even though he does our weekly shop if I need any I have to go out and buy them separately. He says it's embarrassing looking 'in that aisle'.

Today I'm suffering with a heavy period and cramps and need more towels but I can't be bothered having the discussion with him to try and get him to buy me some as I know he won't, so I'm going to have to go out and get them myself.

Do other men behave this immaturely when it comes to 'women's things'? Or is it just mine? If there was a male equivalent I wouldn't think twice about buying it for him!

I'd just like to add that I've had the 'OMG, my period's early, have no stuff with me'... I only discovered that fact when I got up in a meeting and notice an enormous (half the chair seat) drenched in blood. The chair was that scarlet red fabric and the blood was dark. I was mortified. Did the only think I could think of to allow my escape to the loo - tipped my cup of black coffee over the seat by 'accident'.

That is why I NEVER run out of these things, I just can't afford to. I'm so often in places where there are no shops or stuck in meetings that I can't leave often.

I'm not judging anybody. I think we all take reference from our own circumstances and events that have happened to us. For me, the more traumatic, shuddery, embarrassing incidents will result in my paying greater attention to prevent them happening again.

I wouldn't expect a partner to refuse to buy sanpro; I might expect them though to come back with an approximation if I didn't specify. I think most men (and very many women) like to know exactly what is expected. My husband likes to see the packaging of whatever it is if he isn't sure of what I'm talking about before he goes. It's exactly like online supermarkets - tell them if you don't want substitutions.
