And no of course I'm not BU Grin and this is why:

Chat disappears after 90 days so it doesn't clog up MN servers hanging round forever like AIBU does.

If MN don't have to store all this stuff then we just might not have as much down-time or advertising to pay for the servers to hold it all.

I know people use AIBU for traffic but MN don't need to store an "AIBU to ask which pushchair is funkiest?" until MN implodes.

Well said potato salad!

Helpyourself · 30/12/2013 21:38
Xmas Shock What was that for potato? I think that's very sensible 80s Peace and love!
Faverolles · 30/12/2013 21:39

Shouldn't you have posted this non-AIBU in chat, so it doesn't clog up the servers?

Helpyourself · 30/12/2013 21:40

Shrugs
Is there some massive backstory here, because I really don't understand the hostility. It seems like a sensible suggestion.

SaucyJack · 30/12/2013 21:40

YABU, because all the dullards hilarious types that post mock-AIBUs are all so much more speshul and funny than everyone else and therefore the rules shouldn't apply to them. Or something.

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2013 21:40

Just put everything in '30 days only'. Grin In fact don't post anything, ever.

BuffyxSummers · 30/12/2013 21:41

Please use CHAT for your public service announcements.

thornrose · 30/12/2013 21:41

And you posted this in AIBU?

80sdrummer · 30/12/2013 21:41

If I had faverolles then those who only live in AIBU wouldn't have seen it.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2013 21:41

Shouldn't this be in Site Stuff?

Starlingsintheslipstream · 30/12/2013 21:44

Let's face it, Mumsnet doesn't need to store half the shit we all post though! Taken to its logical conclusion most stuff should be in chat... So YABU

80sdrummer · 30/12/2013 21:44

Only trying to help potato salad and clr - it costs money to hold all this data, so MN have to sell our souls with ads to pay for it, or the servers grind to a halt and then we have site outage.

BTW I didn't report your post that has just deleted, I'm a big girl and can take being told to fuck off

WorraLiberty · 30/12/2013 21:47

Am I the only poster on Mumsnet who takes no notice whatsoever of the ads?

I can see them, but I just never look at them or think about them. I think I have my own built in ad blocker.

scaevola · 30/12/2013 21:47

Perhaps people might just consider looking in the relevant subject forum - so they'll see eg the exact same pushchair question has been asked three times this week already.

And check Active Convos before starting eg the 8th thread on PB being on some telly programme.

thornrose · 30/12/2013 21:48

Ads pass me by too, just peripheral vision haze.

picnicbasketcase · 30/12/2013 21:48

I don't think yabu actually - it is kind of annoying to have stuff like 'AIBU to ask what time the next train to Bradford is' or whatever. The answer is yes, you are - google it or post it somewhere else

TiggyD · 30/12/2013 21:49

Take a happy pill dudette and chillax!

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2013 21:50

if you don't like an AIBU don't click on it. Easy.

Loonytoonie · 30/12/2013 21:51

There are ads?!

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2013 21:51

i have got 'Do not track me' and never see an ad.

usualsuspect · 30/12/2013 21:52

What did potato salad say?

usualsuspect · 30/12/2013 21:53

I have an ad blocker.

scottishmummy · 30/12/2013 21:53
