And no of course I'm not BU Grin and this is why:

Chat disappears after 90 days so it doesn't clog up MN servers hanging round forever like AIBU does.

If MN don't have to store all this stuff then we just might not have as much down-time or advertising to pay for the servers to hold it all.

I know people use AIBU for traffic but MN don't need to store an "AIBU to ask which pushchair is funkiest?" until MN implodes.

Told the OP to go away usual.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 30/12/2013 21:54

Totally not unreasonable OP.

Threads like "AIBU to ask you all to share your bedtime routine" are ridiculous glaringly obvious attention seeky shite. Post in the relevant topic where people who care might see it!

80sdrummer · 30/12/2013 21:54

SM- it's not an edict, it's a request / suggestion to avoid down time / ads which people find frustrating.

Sparkling - it's not that I don't like AIBU I love a good bunfight so many people don't seem to venture out of it, they just post in it automatically.

Adverts? What are they then? My Internet never has adverts Grin

80sdrummer · 30/12/2013 21:54

usual potato salad said "oh do fuck off" - nice

Shame, I wanted a shit coloured boogiewoogie.

Anyone selling one of them?

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2013 21:56

I am wary of AIBU as the default setting to replies is 'YABU' wherever possible it seems.

Tinkertaylor1 · 30/12/2013 21:56

I don't take notice of the ads either!

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 30/12/2013 21:56

OFGS don't get the pathological aibuers to come over to chat. We can use more than one question over there. Grin

scottishmummy · 30/12/2013 21:57

I'm impervious to the ads, don't care.its a commercial diet generates revenue

WorraLiberty · 30/12/2013 21:58

There are always going to be ads on MN, that's how MNHQ employees get paid.

Surely you don't think that if this thread magically works (unlike the other 100s of threads on this subject in the past), HQ will turn down advertisers money? Confused

ShylaMcClaus · 30/12/2013 21:59

This pushchair any good, usual? It's sort of snot-coloured.

usualsuspect · 30/12/2013 21:59

The mobile site ads make me laugh tbh.

They reflect the thread, bit like the music in Homes Under The Hammer.

TaillessChicken · 30/12/2013 22:00

Tinker I use a lovely little add on for my browser so I never see adverts or pop ups. Just a lovely, uncluttered screen with lots of white open spaces :)

CatAmongThePigeons · 30/12/2013 22:00

I've just seen that MN has their own ads on the mobile site, who knew? Not me. I am oblivious to most things.

I can't remember what the OP was about Blush

scottishmummy · 30/12/2013 22:02

Ads generate revenue, mula.the point of a profit making business

80sdrummer · 30/12/2013 22:02

No of course not worra - I said "as much downtime or ads" - I just think people post in AIBU automatically without thinking whereas most of it is Chat and if it disappeared might help the site run smoother.

I have been around long enough to have seen some of the 100s of other threads that you refer to, but none have given a reason to, other than it pisses off the pedants

revivingsnowshower · 30/12/2013 22:03

We could at least stop all this messing about, make your answers short and to the point. Yabu/yanbu and no more than a couple of sentences explanation, sometimes a simple ltb will suffice, why do you think we have these abbreviations anyway?

scottishmummy · 30/12/2013 22:04

I cannot see what's your issue op,are you privvy to info that things don't run smooth
What's mnhq. think of your suggestion

WorraLiberty · 30/12/2013 22:07

A site as big as this should have its servers sorted by now, regardless of which topic people choose to post in though.

And as for people posting here for traffic, well if HQ didn't have so many topics (like waaaaay too many), then the remaining topics would be much busier and people would be happier to use them.

HECTheHeraldAngelsSing · 30/12/2013 22:08

Fact is, aibu has become chat. Thats how its used so thats what it is.

if it causes mnhq problems with storage, etc, theyll no doubt change it so it deletes after however many days.

if you change the way you see it, then it wont bother you. Dont thinkmof it as the place where people want views on whether or not they are reasonable, cos tbh it was NEVER that!
just see it as the place where people gather to chat, having first tied their title in knots to fit the aibu format.

then you wont give a shit.

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2013 22:10

We need a flow diagram to make sure we are posting in the right section.

usualsuspect · 30/12/2013 22:13

I think aibu is a bit crap though.

MaryzBoychildCheeszuzCrizpz · 30/12/2013 22:13

Can I add:

If you want to post in aibu, please ask if you are in fact being unreasonable.

And if you are told you are, please don't get cross and go off in a huff

I think the answer is deleting aibu after 90 (or even better 30) days.

MaryzBoychildCheeszuzCrizpz · 30/12/2013 22:14

Worra, do you think, maybe we should ask MNHQ to look at refining the topic list.

I'm sure no-one has thought to do that.
