And no of course I'm not BU and this is why:

Chat disappears after 90 days so it doesn't clog up MN servers hanging round forever like AIBU does.

If MN don't have to store all this stuff then we just might not have as much down-time or advertising to pay for the servers to hold it all.

I know people use AIBU for traffic but MN don't need to store an "AIBU to ask which pushchair is funkiest?" until MN implodes.

Yes I don't see why they don't delete them after a bit, they could put any good ones in classics.

I completely agree with this OP. I think AIBU as a concept is actually a really good idea. We all have cases where we think/say/do something and we don't know whether we've overreacted or been unfair so it's good to get other opinions.

IMO Where AIBU falls down is in three ways. Firstly as you've said the stupid questions phrased as an AIBU to get more 'traffic'. 'AIBU to ask you to talk to me about water coolers?!' I always think the first person who replies should just put 'yes' and then no one else respond. Secondly as others have said the ones where the OP is convinced that they're not and won't hear a word said against them, why bother?! But the one that actually really annoys me is when the OP clearly knows that they weren't and just want to bitch, leading to much frothing from other posters on their behalf. 'AIBU to be cross with XXXX for taking my money and not delivering when they said they would? The customer service rep told me to fuck off and I can't afford to feed my children'. Why not just be honest and post in chat saying 'I want to slag off XXXX, who wants to join in?!'
