To expect a 'sister' card for Xmas from my brother

His card arrived today in the post, just a bog standard one out of a box of cards. I always get him and his wife a 'to my brother and his wife' card every year. He used to but the last two years it's been a box one. AIBU?

YABU. Who actually cares about what kind of card they receive?

Ifcatshadthumbs · 23/12/2013 13:14

Yabu and a bit silly it's just a card

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2013 13:15

Yes, yabvvvvvvvvvu. Do people REALLY buy 'To my brother' cards etc? Ridiculous waste of money.

BohemianGirl · 23/12/2013 13:15

shakes head

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 23/12/2013 13:15

YABU and YAB-Ridiculous

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/12/2013 13:16

Yes, YABU. Those designated cards are a rip off somewhat overpriced.

Pootles2010 · 23/12/2013 13:16

YABVVVU. My dp's family do this, it drives me nuts. He deals with it, I refuse to.

MyNameIsSuz · 23/12/2013 13:16

Er, yeah I think you are. My brothers always get ones out of the box and do the same for me. You know he's your brother!

cardibach · 23/12/2013 13:17

I actively dislike cards addressed to me by relationship. I know how we are related! I don't do cards at all now, but donate to charity so how would you feel about that?

Bunznroses · 23/12/2013 13:18

Jeez- my in-laws were like this (card nazis). If you didn't spend a fiver on a appropriate card for each of them they'd get the hump. 14 years of bog standard cards seems to have retrained them!
YABU!

Sirzy · 23/12/2013 13:18

I haven't even sent my sister a card.

Xmas Biscuit
amouseinawindmill · 23/12/2013 13:19

Seriously? Is it really worth getting annoyed just because he hasn't paid for an overpriced card to boost Hallmark's profits?

Timeandagain · 23/12/2013 13:19

There are some very odd AIBU threads at the moment that cannot be serious.

CointreauVersial · 23/12/2013 13:19

I have never in my life sent a card saying "to my sister/brother/mother" etc.

They are the height of naff, imho.

DaddyPigsMistress · 23/12/2013 13:20

Yanbu

I would shit in a box. Write to my dear brother on it and give to him at Christmas.

Can't belive he would do something like that to you.

Christmas is ruined

Or not.....does it really matter?

Salmotrutta · 23/12/2013 13:20

Grin at "card nazis"

YABU really OP.

Chippednailvarnish · 23/12/2013 13:20

Maybe he just has good taste compared to you...

littlewhitechristmasbag · 23/12/2013 13:20

Really?? Xmas Hmm

I don't get a card at all from my brother and his wife. They don't 'do' Christmas. They don't send birthday cards either. I send them one from a standard box of cards as i do to all my relatives.

Who gives a shit really? By January they are all in the recycling anyway.

Salmotrutta · 23/12/2013 13:21

Do they do "To My Dear Cats" cards?

pomdereplay · 23/12/2013 13:21

This is hilarious. I have laughing fits every year at the 'To a Special Couple' or 'To our Son and Partner' Christmas cards we get from my in-laws. Bless them for being so doggedly specific but it is so unnecessary. A card's a card... Waste of money anyway.

MrsDavidBowie · 23/12/2013 13:22

Be happy you got a card.
This must be a windup.

snice · 23/12/2013 13:23

I boggled at the availability of named cards in Card Factory-everything from "niece" to" wonderful neighbour"

The ultimate was: 'to a wonderful cat'

jacks365 · 23/12/2013 13:23

Yabu about a regular card but you can complain when the card from your brother and family spells your name wrong and misses off the name of one of your children. I dare not let my mother see it.

AmberLeaf · 23/12/2013 13:23

Seriously?
