I can buy a higher welfare chicken for less £ than a lower welfare turkey. And it will be lovely.

No, chicken is lovely. We are having chicken!

BerryChristmas · 21/12/2013 22:43

We are also having chicken Xmas Grin

Writerwannabe83 · 21/12/2013 22:43

I'd much rather have chicken on Christmas Day than turkey.
Damn traditions Xmas Grin

quesadilla · 21/12/2013 22:45

no, god no. I'd take a decent chicken any day over a turkey.

Moxiegirl · 21/12/2013 22:46

We did it one year and told the kids it was turkey. They were all very suspicious Grin
Nothing wrong with having chicken.

SnowMuchToBits · 21/12/2013 22:46

Chicken here too! Yayyyy!!!!!!! Go chickens.... Xmas Smile

ipswichwitch · 21/12/2013 22:46

I never had

RhinestoneCowgirl · 21/12/2013 22:46

We like chicken for Christmas day too, especially with just 2 adults + 2 children.

This year MIL is coming to stay and we're having a big lump of beef with yorkshire puds. She'll probably fret about pinkness, she usually does...

ipswichwitch · 21/12/2013 22:46

I never had t

ipswichwitch · 21/12/2013 22:46

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 21/12/2013 22:47

Heston of Fat Duck is having chicken, you are in good company Xmas Grin

ipswichwitch · 21/12/2013 22:48

Bastard iPhone!
I never had turkey til I left home - DM refused to cook it since she couldn't stand it so we always had chicken. Not that I minded, got loads of lovely bread sauce with it!

Fannydabbydozey · 21/12/2013 22:48

My ds came into the kitchen the other day saying "mummy I think we should have goose this year. It's much more traditional" he'd been watching Michel Roux.

I'm force feeding him chicken for that...

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 21/12/2013 22:49

I've had chicken for Christmas. One year we cooked a ham. I'd like to cook a goose but their huge.

Cook whatever you like.

SnowMuchToBits · 21/12/2013 22:50

Heston having chicken? Yay! Ds and I like Heston.

SnowMuchToBits · 21/12/2013 22:51

Oh and I LOVE bread sauce!

LadyBeagleEyes · 21/12/2013 22:51

I love Roast chicken but make it regularly over the year.
I need something a bit different at Christmas so Turkey it is.
I tried to persuade ds 18 last year to try Goose which I've never had but he was not having it.

PenguinsDontEatStollen · 21/12/2013 22:52

We are having beef. Have what you will enjoy.

BunnyLebowski · 21/12/2013 22:55

We're having chicken. With all the trimmings.

No matter how it is cooked turkey is like eating cardboard.

Chicken is easier and has actual flavour Shock .

I am going to tell DD that it's turkey as she has her heart set on a traditional Christmas diner Blush .

Breezy1985 · 21/12/2013 22:55

I'm thinking about just having a chicken, this year it's just me and the 2 dc, and they'll barely eat it anyway. Turkey seems so expensive but then I've always been invited round to family before Sad

StarsUponThars · 21/12/2013 22:57

Damn it, I'm not BU Grin.

My first AIBU, and I didn't get remotely flamed. Must Try Harder.

I'm having chicken. Just me and DS (20). Husband buggered off nearly 2 years ago, last year we spent Christmas with older DS's family, they're away this year. TBH - prefer chicken to turkey anyway!

lostdomain · 21/12/2013 22:59

Chicken here too. A big free range organic one for half the price of the same sized over-farmed turkey. It's just a bit of plain, low fat meat to go with the real reason for Christmas dinner - pigs in blankets.

Killinascullion · 21/12/2013 23:01

I'm doing a rack of lamb for three, salmon steak for one and goats cheese tartlets for the other two plus usual veg.

No-one apart from me likes a bird or Xmas pud or Xmas cake so I never get to eat a traditional Christmas dinner on Christmas day. Xmas Sad

A quality chicken sounds good to me.

WorraLiberty · 21/12/2013 23:02

We're having chicken and ham.
