I can buy a higher welfare chicken for less £ than a lower welfare turkey. And it will be lovely.

I always miss the juicy bits!!!

ephemeralfairy · 24/12/2013 00:17

Turkey is horrid. I'm doing gammon.

Theodorous · 24/12/2013 02:22

Was I attacked? Why? Because if where I live? I honestly don't see what I said that was so wrong.

Theodorous · 24/12/2013 02:30

And did I get reported?

Twattyzombiebollocks · 24/12/2013 07:23

Cook whatever the hell you like as long as its legal :0)
You are the ones eating it after all. We are doing beef rib, ham and a small turkey crown as a token gesture because I bloody hate turkey and rest of family don't care

Morloth · 24/12/2013 07:26

We are having a BBQ and seafood.

M0naLisa · 24/12/2013 07:52

We too are having Chicken

Groovee · 24/12/2013 07:54

Chicken was the original before Turkey became popular for christmas.

ouryve · 24/12/2013 08:42

In the Northeast, Stars. We had one near to where I lived, as a student.

LondonMother · 24/12/2013 09:06

I saw all the deleted messages. Nobody missed anything very much. One person may have been a little tired and emotional, that's all. The wrong end of the stick appeared to have been firmly gripped.

Morloth, I'm assuming you're not in the UK. It's not BBQ weather here at the moment.

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 24/12/2013 09:13

Blessed are the cheese makers London ... or something Xmas Smile

Theodorous · 24/12/2013 09:18

Weird but then the internet is full of nutters. Speaking of which, I am going to really miss my family this year.

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 24/12/2013 09:21

That's not a comment on my lovely post is it Theo ? Xmas Confused

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 24/12/2013 09:22

How come you're not with them this year dorous ?

Theodorous · 24/12/2013 09:24

No, sorry, it was about further up when someone seemed to have a bizarre and disproportionate reaction to the fact I live in Qatar. I would never, ever make fun of anything to do with cheese. I have a fridge full of the stuff, every single variety you can think of. They are nestled next to the chicken I am cooking tomorrow Xmas Wink

Theodorous · 24/12/2013 09:26

I have decided to go back and see them when it is less busy, otherwise I never get to see my mum properly. We will go back in february

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 24/12/2013 09:35

Just checking Theo - love that on MN I can chat about cheese on a chicken for XMas thread with someone in Qatar.
< Wonders how anyone got upset about the Qatar bit ?! >

I had a lovely Christmas with DP in northern Japan a few years before we had the DC - we went ski-ing and had a bento box for lunch - I think I forgot to miss the rest of the family back home in UK ...
Actually I think I missed cheese and curries more that year!

Anyhow I hope you have a nice Chrimbo too - and remember you'll be seeing everyone in February?

Mishmashofstyles · 24/12/2013 09:49

We are having a pizza.

Morebiscuitsplease · 24/12/2013 17:20

Glad to see I am in such good company, chicken with all the trimmings, even Yorkshire puddings, special request from DD2. No Christmas pudding either as we don't like it so sherry trifle and cheese cake. Oh and a bit of fizz for mum. ??

Anyfuckerisnotguilty · 24/12/2013 18:03

we are having turkey

but only because waitrose has bloody run out of chickens

OneLittleToddleTerror · 24/12/2013 18:30

morloth is probably in Australia or NZ. It is 'traditional' to do a bbq with a pavlova. Obviously there are silly people insisting on stodgy christmas pudding and a steaming oven with a large joint of meat and roast veggies. I much prefer a barbecue outdoors.

I'm having stir fried rice, gyozas and mont blanc. I'm the only one who like roast so I'm not inflicting roast chicken on my family.

GhettoPrincess001 · 25/12/2013 03:35

I live in NZ. We had the (obligatory) bbq on Christmas Eve. We had been to an out door carol concert with a live nativity.

My husband had just finished barbequing the steak, lamb chops and chicken as the rain started. He bought the food indoors where I had the table set. We quickly moved the bbq into the garage to cool down.

Today, Christmas lunch, we had roast chicken with all the trimmings. I made sherry trifle for dessert.

GhettoPrincess001 · 25/12/2013 03:41

Oh, and I also served (the obligatory) strawberry pavlova for dessert on Christmas Eve after the (obligatory) Christmas Eve bbq.

I don't need to worry about being reported to the 'no bbq or pavlova on Christmas Eve in New Zealand' police.

I'll stay shtumm about my roast chicken Christmas Day lunch. I don't want to get a reputation with my neighbours.

oldfatandtired1 · 25/12/2013 17:13

DS2 (aged20 and a 3rd year student) has just served up roast chicken, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, potatoes, stuffing, pigs in blankets and gravy. And it was bloody gorgeous! Hope his dad (and my STBX) are enjoying Mauritius and I don't envy them one bit!
