Hullygully · 27/11/2013 22:38

No, I wasn't.

It was so crassly manipulative, Walt ok then oh dear bad stuff happens to Walt because of the meth. Up down up down. Because METH is Bad people.

And he is so so vile in his white underpants. WHY did we have to keep seeing him in his pants?

Bunny it is possible to obtain via "sources", just make sure you get La Serie, not the 2005 film. The film is good and features the luscious Kim Rossi Stuart, but it's the tv series that is a real masterpiece, IMO.

redshifter · 28/11/2013 00:13

Everytime I see Jessie in BB, I think of Fran Healy from the band Travis.

Bettercallsaul1 · 28/11/2013 00:28

Fairylea -I'm here!

It is a wonderful show - exciting, morally ambiguous, and genuinely innovative, in terms of plot.

I loved how the tone altered - the first series had a lot of black comedy amidst the excitement and horror, but the atmosphere darkened throughout the series.

Brilliant characters - apart from Walt and Jessie, who could forget the grim and gruesome Gus, the terrifying, unhinged Tuco, the murderous but charismatic Salamanco brothers, the humorous and mellifluous-voiced Mike,
the unfortunate, ill-fated Gale - not to mention my own personal favourite, good old Saul!

Excellent, fitting ending.

One of the all-time greats.

MeanAndMeaslyMiddleAges · 28/11/2013 02:44

Just popping in to recommend Justified (we watched this almost as obsessively as BB). However, I found the 4th series very boring. Series 2 and 3 were fab, and Raylan Givens is poss one of my fave characters ever now - he's so cool.

I also seriously recommend Deadwood!

DuckToWater · 28/11/2013 03:30

YANBU - I haven't seen it but the story line doesn't appeal to me at all. Have tried several popular US imports and I don't get on with them apart from the odd exception.

Ubik1 · 28/11/2013 03:59

BB is amazing

You are not supposed to like Walt - or any of them really. Stoner Jesse is the one who emerges with some morality.

BB is about how power corrupts. He ends up losing everything through his pursuit of power.

You might like the US version if House of Cards with Kevin Spacey. Also the Danish dramas. Am loving Borgen at the moment.

bragmatic · 28/11/2013 06:51

I have deliberately not RTFT.

This is because I bought the series about a month ago having heard nothing about it apart from how great it was, and have been obsessed with it and tonight is the night!!! The last episode! I've loved it, but the last couple of episodes have left me feeling a bit…sad. Poor Hank. And those bastards that have Jesse. God, I hope he makes it out alive.

I love that during the first season I found myself feeling sorry for Walt and wishing he could stash away some money for his family. and now I want to tear him apart with a pitchfork before the cancer gets him.

Crowler · 28/11/2013 06:56

YABVVVVVU.

I've never actually heard anyone say this before!

Levantine · 28/11/2013 07:02

I'm on series 2. It is okaaay, but doesn't touch the wire. Am persevering

CoffeeTea103 · 28/11/2013 07:06

Yabvu, you have bad taste then.

DeathByLaundry · 28/11/2013 07:15

YABU.

I too found it tough to get into, largely because none of the characters were universally likeable. Any time I started warming to Walt his manipulation of Jesse would let me down. But in the end the fact that the characters all have their flaws is what kept it so good all the way through.

I'm tempted by The Wire now. Is it on Netflix?

Bradsplit · 28/11/2013 07:35

i dont think BB as as good as Mad men for eg or the Sopranos - am stuck on series three and can only watch in school holidays - but dont think about it the same way as the others...

Crowler · 28/11/2013 08:06

I loved Sopranos. I loved BB more.

Six Feet Under is amazing as well.

I am not crazy about Mad Men since Donald Draper has started to unravel.

pinkdelight · 28/11/2013 08:12

YANBU. I have tried and tried - my DH loves it and I know I really should (I loved The Wire, Sopranos etc), but I can't find a single thing to like about it except sometimes Hank as at least he has light as well as shade. Series One lured me in, but then it slowed right down and became this horrible brown slow gloop of his illness and Jessie's drugginess and Skylar fretfully rubbing her bump and the narky son and good god, why I am watching these rotten people in this miserable place?? I even started to loathe the theme tune and the name! I know it has its moments, but I really can't get on the BB boat and it's not for want of trying. Game of Thrones on the other hand, I can't get enough of! And it's not at all shallow, but it's a magnificent place to go as well.

ChristineDaae · 28/11/2013 08:15

I tried twice to watch it, got bored both times around the middle of season 1... Pretty overrated I thought. But each to their own. Clearly a lot of people enjoyed it.

likelucklove · 28/11/2013 08:19

I HATE it. My P watched it non stop for 2 weeks and then decided he knew how to make a phone untraceable and do stuff with the berries Hmm It is vile and just glamourises drug abuse and women are only sex objects. I know a lot of people like it and I respect that. Maybe I'm a bit sensitive to subjects like this.

likelucklove · 28/11/2013 08:19

Oh and YANBU.

Clayhanger · 28/11/2013 08:24

Got to ep 3 in series 1 and gave up. YANBU.

The Sopranos, on the other hand...genius.

diddl · 28/11/2013 08:26

OP of course yanbu.

My husband has been watching it so I've seen the odd ep.

Can't say that I hated it, but it diesn't appeal to me at all & I have no interest in watching it.

Ditto The Walking Dead-even though I love Andrew Lincoln-but jeez, that Daryl Dixon is an ugly bugger.

harriet247 · 28/11/2013 08:27

Sacrilege! Loved it,Jesse was the hero though, not walt

Ubik1 · 28/11/2013 09:01

It is vile and just glamourises drug abuse and women are only sex objects.

Are you kidding? It does absolutely the opposite.

Perhaps you should actually watch it.

pinkdelight · 28/11/2013 09:06

It doesn't glamourise anything. I'm not asking for Dallas or Dynasty, but Oh for a little glamour!

DeathByLaundry · 28/11/2013 09:09

I agree, it's hardly glamorous and as for women as sex objects, I'm completely bemused. Are we talking about the same show?!

likelucklove · 28/11/2013 09:13

I did watch some of it, but didn't like it. It was just something my P seemed to get from it and reacted to it, I know everyone sees it in different ways. Sorry.

hopefulgum · 28/11/2013 09:14

I loved it. The ending is AMAZING!

Compelling, intelligent, fantastic viewing. But I also love The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and The Killing. OMG, so much fabulous television!
