to think there's a lot of patronizing snobbery here with regards the netmums site.

it's as posters on mumsnet are somehow superior to anyone who posts on netmums...

I mean, whats that all about?

You can basically be Nick Griffin in a halter neck on MN

Did you mean NM? Great post though!

BlingBang · 08/10/2013 23:18

Mrs DeVere - I pop into Nm about once a year but that scary thread you mentioned seems familiar. Had the guy been done for Rape or DV and was asking advice to get access to his kids or something?

The way possible emotional abuse etc is dealt with here is SO much better. When women moan about their husbands blatantly abusive behaviour there it's met with a lot of "I know hon, mine's the same....men are such pains aren't they??" When I just want to scream "WHY ARE YOU PUTTING UP WITH THIS???"

Everyone's entitled to a moan, I get that, but sometimes it does my head in there. There's a lot of errant sexism from both sides as well.

ScarletLady02 · 08/10/2013 23:32

I don't recognise any pics, but your children are beautiful Smile

I'm the woolly leftie with the crazy hair (as I always get called)

Doubtfuldaphne · 08/10/2013 23:33

Those tickers! The way it takes ages to get to anything. The way they all say Hun and babe and leave kisses. Bleurgh!
I like it here, its simple and a little more intellectual. I do find a lot of people on here are a bit nasty/sharp though

Sparklysilversequins · 08/10/2013 23:36

It's unsatisfactory over there. They give advice but its like its text book advice iyswim? Here on MN there's some real insight and people read between the lines and can see bigger pictures. Over there it's all "if you can't say anything nice then say nothing at all or get banned!" which is pretty useless when people are really struggling or need serious support and understanding. Not to mention the fact that that kind of attitude post after post makes for painfully dull reading.

Nope, not banned. What were you banned for?

IRCL · 08/10/2013 23:42

I'm on both for different reasons.

I dislike the "debate" over there, I also find a lot of victim blaming going on on that site most recently the other night.

It infuriates me beyond belief. I like how mumsnet is straight to the point and I do feel it is a better place to actually engage in intelligent debate and I'm not as exactly highly intelligent myself. Grin

I know who you are I think Scarlet in fact I'd put money on it.

I feel that the moderators are a tad drunk with power, after all the moderations the threads rarely make sense.

TheFabulousIdiot · 08/10/2013 23:43

Wow, sparklingbrook, the forum/site you linked to is awful.

I got banned from Bounty the day I joined.

Hardcore.

Grennie · 08/10/2013 23:46

Why did you get banned the day you joined?

PeppiNephrine · 08/10/2013 23:50

They said I was trolling! I wasn't. All I said was maybe 6 weeks was fucking ridiculous a little early for weaning on one thread, and on a baby names one that no child needed 4 ii's and a hyphen all in one name not to mention the nonsensical spelling

Bit harsh, I thought. Grin

WestieMamma · 08/10/2013 23:50

Snobbery towards netmums? Here? I always got the impression that netmums was the PFB, lentil weaving, glitter ball, cafe latte drinking forum and this one was the common as muck, screaming fishwives, getting drunk on special brew in the park forum.

Grennie · 08/10/2013 23:51

Peppi - :)

How very dare you!

ScarletLady02 · 08/10/2013 23:53

Oooh are the Bounty Debates ladies starting to creep out the wood-work now? I haven't posted there in over a year, but I STILL have loads of them on facebook. Bounty Debates was brilliant...I never went anywhere else on there...

Buy and Sell invasions were HILARIOUS!

I know! An apparently the wrong one at that!

KatoPotato · 08/10/2013 23:56

My only venture took me to a thread called 'what brands do you luv yr LOs in?

One replied, moncler, d&g fendi, Gucci but not Ralph Lauren because it is common and tacky.

Can you imagine that thread here?

Grennie · 08/10/2013 23:58

The wine bar is the equivalent of chat here. So top thread at the moment is about prostitution.
