What kind of twattery is this??!

Toots mine is an iPhone 4.

Add an item to reminders. Double click the item, and an 'i' in a circle appears on the right. Click on the 'i' and it has a couple of options - remind me on a day, or remind me at a location.

It's pretty cool - you can type in an address, then extend the bubble around the pin - so it could remind you if you were, say a mile away.

mynameismskane · 23/09/2013 22:47

You can't seem to delete separate text messages (from one Person I mean) anymore. Why?!

Hate it

BerylStreep · 23/09/2013 22:51

myname double click on the message you want to delete, and it will come up with the option of 'copy' or 'more'. Select 'more' and you then have the option of deleting or forwarding individual texts.

Check me out - I sound like an expert!

TootsFroots · 23/09/2013 22:59

Beryl. That's fantastic news! I still can't get it working but at least its doable. Now I just have to work out how.

When I click on the little 'i' I don't get the option. Sad

Right... I will be back!!

TootsFroots · 23/09/2013 23:16

BerylStreeps. Yay! Thanks Thanks. I have got it working.

I am not 100% sure how I did it though Blush. I turned the stalker'ish 'Frequent locations' back on, then turned on location based ads then checked reminders and the option to use a location was there. Grin Grin

Then I turned off 'location based adds' and 'frequent locations' checked reminders again ... and the option to use a location was still there [confusing]

I am very glad as I use it ALL the time as I have a mind like a sieve

BsshBossh · 24/09/2013 07:52

I only have it on my iPad and iPhone but I love it. YABU.

Laurensdad · 24/09/2013 10:36

The functionality seems about the same to me, on both my iPhone and iPad.

I do not like the new 'flat' icons. They look more Windows than Mac, and I liked the 3D look of the old icons.

Openyourheart · 24/09/2013 10:51

So far, I like it. I have turned the brightness down which helps.

One thing that I have not worked out yet is how to stop applications running in the background? Anyone know?

15thnamechange · 24/09/2013 11:04

Disable background app refresh: settings general scroll down to background app refresh and turn off

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 24/09/2013 11:05

Settings > General > Background App Refresh. :)

15thnamechange · 24/09/2013 11:05

Oops, can also close apps: double click button, swipe any unwanted apps upward to close

Openyourheart · 24/09/2013 12:51

Thankyou :)

Openyourheart · 24/09/2013 12:55

The alarm is good. You just touch anywhere on the screen for snooze - you don't have to look for the "snooze" icon any more.

Can anyone tell me how to preserve battery life? I find it is running out quicly, but i do not know if i should switch off any apps i do mot use (wifi is off...what about location??) help!!!

TootsFroots · 24/09/2013 14:03

To preserve battery life READ THIS

If I am out for the day I also carry a couple of portable external battery chargers with me.

TootsFroots · 24/09/2013 14:04

Bluetooth seems to gobble up my battery life. I keep it off unless I am using it.

littlepopsy · 24/09/2013 14:08

Sorry if this is a really stupid question....
So it seems that someone invented an app for a torch. Put it in the AppStore. Sells well. Apple notice this and include in next model of phone. End of revenue for person who came up with the good idea. Apple can just take it. Is that right ? Is that what the others, samsung etc, do ? Slightly off topic I know, but I just feel sorry for people who come up with good ideas.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/09/2013 15:31

the old torch app i had was free

tbh i generally only add free aps tightwad blondes

In my email, how do I search by sender, subject, body etc?

You can't. Which is annoying.

Personally, I found myself being annoyed that I couldn't search for "stuff from or cc'd to xxx" under iOS

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2013 08:31

I can search my emails. Just go to the top and enter in search bar then and if whom I'm looking for

Nothing changed? Don't get why you can't

Also there's a io7.2 update now - apparently to fix some bugs

Anyone updated to that?

Blonde in previous releases you could limit the searches to the Subject, the From or the To, as well as the message as a whole. Now you can't.

Historically, that limitation was more about being kind to the mail server than about user functionality. Most mail servers have a database containing cached header information, so can do header searches quickly; searching for keywords inside the messages can be a lot more work, depending on the software the server is running. These days, however, most people are using large, hosted mail services which can do that sort of searching in the blink of an eye, so there's no reason from a resource point of view to not do it. Some people, including mirai and me, use(d) that functionality to make the searches more focussed, and we've lost that capability.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2013 09:39

My emails are simple searches lol

Generally I know who the email info I want is from do can find easily but guess if you have a lot of work stuff then it's harder

FannyFifer · 29/09/2013 13:21
